Geometric transformations between general concurrent charts and tangential contact charts
summary:The general geometric transformations between the general concurrent charts of three variables and the general tangential contact charts of three variables are researched in this paper. General geometric transformations treated here are of the form: , by which the general concurrent charts in -plane and the general tangential contact charts in -plane are transformed to cach other, by the envelope method or the contact transformation method
Singlet-triplet Crossover in the Two-dimensional Dimer Spin System YbAl3C3
Low-temperature magnetization (M) measurements down to 0.1 K have been
performed in magnetic fields up to 14.5 T for a single piece of a tiny
single-crystalline sample (0.2 mg weight) of the spin-gap system YbAl3C3. At
the base temperature of 0.1 K, several metamagnetic transitions were clearly
observed for H // c in the range 6 T < H < 9 T whereas only two transitions
were observed, one at 4.8 T and the other at 6.6 T, for H // a. At fields above
9 T, the magnetization becomes almost saturated for both H // a and H // c. The
present results indicate that a singlet-triplet crossover occurs in a
relatively narrow field range, suggesting a rather weak interdimer interaction
in spite of the nearly triangular lattice of Yb ions.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, proceedings of ICM 201
On an analysis of Bus driver's Flicker Values (1)
There are a number of methods for measuring the fatigue because the measurement of this in the working hours is useful for analyzing the factors of fatigue and for the utilization of the labor management. In this paper, the fatigue of bus drivers who have experience of various
number of years in some bus company is measured by the flicker and these values are analyzed by X(2) test or sign test and its control limit is determined. These are contributed to find a daily variation and to estimate the fatigue capacity, the degree of skill and what factors have influence on points which oversteps the limit line. It was found in this study that the limit line gets lower as the year of experience increases and the flicker values decrease in the forenoon
Synthesis and properties of 4′-ThioDNA: unexpected RNA-like behavior of 4′-ThioDNA
The synthesis and properties of fully modified 4′-thioDNAs, oligonucleotides consisting of 2′-deoxy-4′-thionucleosides, were examined. In addition to the known literature properties (preferable hybridization with RNA and resistance to endonuclease hydrolysis), we also observed higher resistance of 4′-thioDNA to 3′-exonuclease cleavage. Furthermore, we found that fully modified 4′-thioDNAs behaved like RNA molecules in their hybridization properties and structural aspect, at least in the case of the 4′-thioDNA duplex. This observation was confirmed by experiments using groove binders, in which a 4′-thioDNA duplex interacts with an RNA major groove binder, lividomycin A, but not with DNA groove binders, to give an increase in its thermal stability. Since a 4′-thioDNA duplex competitively inhibited the hydrolysis of an RNA duplex by RNase V(1), it was not only the physical properties but also this biological data suggested that a 4′-thioDNA duplex has an RNA-like structure
