IT Influenced CSR in De-Stabilized Economy with Comparative Analysis of Various European Countries
Corporations around the world are struggling with a new role, which is to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the next generations to meet their own needs. Organizations are being called upon to take responsibility for the ways their operations impact societies and the natural environment. They are also being asked to apply sustainability principles to the ways in which they conduct their business. Sustainability refers to an organization’s activities, typically considered voluntary, that demonstrate the inclusion of social and environmental concerns in the business operations and in interactions with stakeholders (van Marrewijk & Verre, 2003)It is no longer acceptable for a corporation to experience economic prosperity in isolation from those agents impacted by its actions. A firm must now focus its attention on both increasing its bottom line and being a good corporate citizen. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to the company’s efforts to go beyond what may be required by the regulators, it is the corporate initiative to assess and take responsibility for the company’s effect on the environment and impact on social welfare. Information Technology (IT) is also an enabler of business functions. It plays a great role as the benefits gained from it are of great use but corporate social responsibility (CSR) puts limitations on its usage.
Increased regeneration efficiency of _Brassica napus_ L. cultivars Star, Westar and Cyclone from hypocotyle and cotyledonary explants
The comparative organogenesis of _Brassica napus_ L cultivars Cyclone, Star and Westar was studied. The cotyledonary explants gave a higher response to all the combinations of 0.5 mg/L 2,4-D and BAP (0.5, 1.0,1.5 and 2.0 mg/L} used for optimizing the conditions for callus induction. The best mean weight and mean length of callus was obtained at 0.5 mg/L 2,4-D and 1.5mg/L BAP for Star cotyledonary explants. For the complete plant regeneration the new method of exposing the explants culture to Growth regulator free medium was performed. The method was applicable to both hypocotyl and cotyledonary explants. The Shoot Induction Frequency for hypocotyl (6-34%) in the three cultivars is higher than the cotyledonary explants (3-23%). The method is speedy and almost all of the shoots and some unshooted calli (78%) form roots on the same media without prior transfer to rooting medium
Synthesis and cytotoxic activity of some derivatives of alkyl piperidine
Abstract: Synthesis of novel phenacyl derivatives of alkyl piperidine as cytotoxic agents via simple and single step reaction procedure is going to be reported here. Twelve new compounds were successfully synthesized in moderate yield and in solid form. Their synthesis was confirmed by TLC, melting point, CHN analysis and through different spectral studies such as UV, IR, Mass and proton NMR. The advantages of this synthetic route are simple operation, mild reaction conditions and good yields. These newly synthesized derivatives were extensively explored for their cytotoxicity by brine shrimp lethality assay

Inflammation and impaired endothelium-dependant vasodilatation in non obese women with gestational diabetes mellitus: Preliminary results.
International audienceBACKGROUND: To evaluate whether abnormal endothelial function, a common finding in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) pregnancies, can be explained by inflammatory cytokines. METHODS: Forearm skin blood flow (FSBF), into response to acetylcholine (Ach) (endothelium-dependent vasodilatation), were measured in 24 pregnant control subjects and 28 gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) women, in the third trimester of gestation. A fasting glycemic and lipidic panel was obtained, and inflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha and IL-6) and adiponectin were also determined. RESULTS: FSBF is significantly reduced in GDM group compared with control subjects (344.59 +/- 57.791 vs.176.38 +/- 108.52, P < 0.05). Among all subjects, FSBF showed a strong negative correlation with TNF-alpha and IL-6 (r = -0.426, P < 0.0001 and r = -0.564, P < 0.0001, respectively) and positive correlation with adiponectin (r = 0.468, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: Endothelial function, an early marker of macrovascular disease, is present in non-obese pregnancies complicated by GDM. This alteration seems to be directly related to inflammatory status, which may represent a patho-physiological link between GDM and type 2 diabetes and, later on, metabolic syndrome
Dosimetry Characterization of Unknown Dye Polyvinyl Alcohol Films
In the present study chemical dosimeters having aqueous solutions of crystal violet commercial dye were irradiated by Co60 γ source in the range (0-120)KGy. The standard aqueous solutions were scanned by UV/VIS spectrophotometer for the determination of maximum wave length (λmax) which was found to be 591nm at this value maximum absorbance was found to be 3.5; it was also observed that with increase in dose, absorbance decreases correspondingly. At this value, the absorbance (A) of irradiated samples was measured in UV region. The plot between concentration C and A gave approximate linear relationship and hence verified Beer’s Law which proved that these dye solutions can satisfactorily be used as the dye dosimeters in 0-120kGy gamma dose range
