Kadın Çalışanlarda Cam Tavan Yansıtıcılarından Kurum İkliminin, İş Tatmini ve İşten Ayrılma Niyetine Etkisi: Otel İşletmelerinde Bir Araştırma The Impact of Organizational Climate as a Glass Ceiling Reflector on Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention of Female Employees: A Research in Hotel Operations

Cam tavan işletmelerde kadınların yönetimde belirli bir düzeyin üzerine yükselmesini engelleyen görünmez engelleri ifade etmektedir. Bu engellerin belli başlıları ise; basmakalıp yargılar, rol çatışması, şirket uygulamaları (işe alım, terfi ve ücretlendirmede ayrımcılık yapılması), rehbere sahip olamama ve iletişim ağı gibi unsurlar olabileceği gibi kurum uygulamaları, kurum kültürü ve iklimi boyutları eksenindeki eksiklikler olarak da sıralanabilir. Geleneksel ataerkil kurum kültürlerinde kadın yöneticiler bazı işlere ve görevlere uygun bulunmamakta, kendilerine verilen rollerin dışına çıktıklarında bu durum çevrelerindeki diğer kişilerde rahatsızlıklar yaratmaktadır. Kadınların kariyer olanaklarında eşit fırsatlar yakalamaları kurum kültürüne göre değişmektedir. Yapılan bu çalışmada konaklama sektöründeki kadın çalışanlarda cam tavan sendromunun boyutlarından biri olan ve zihinsel durağanlığı etkileyen değişkenlerden kurum ikliminin, iş tatmini ile işten ayrılma niyeti üzerine etkisinin belirlemesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya Antalya’daki zincir otel işletmelerinden üç otelde görevli 153 kadın çalışan katılmıştır. Veriler Cam Tavan Sendromu Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, cam tavan boyutlarından kurum iklimi ile iş tatmini arasında anlamlı ve negatif yönlü ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca kurum iklimi ile işten ayrılma niyeti arasında da anlamlı ve pozitif yönlü bir ilişki ve etki tespit edilmiştir. Glass ceiling refers to invisible obstacles that prevent women from rising above a certain level in management. The main ones of these obstacles could be; stereotypes, role conflict, institutional practices (such as discrimination on recruitment, promotion and salary), not having a mentor and communication network, as well as shortcomings in terms of institutional practices, corporate culture and organizational climate. In traditional patriarchal corporate cultures, female managers are not regarded as suitable for certain jobs and duties, and when they are out of their roles, this creates disturbances in other people around them. Women having equal opportunities to pursue career opportunities could vary from institution to institution. In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of institutional climate, that affects mental stability and one of the dimensions of glass ceiling syndrome, on job satisfaction and turnover intention in female employees in hospitality industry. 153 women working in three hotels of local chain company in Antalya participated in the study. The data were collected by Glass Ceiling Syndrome Scale. According to the findings, it was determined that there is a meaningful and negative relation between corporate climate (which is one of the glass ceiling dimensions) and job satisfaction. In addition, a positive impact and relationship was found between the organizational climate and turnover intention

Communicatıon skills of hotel management employees: Artvin sample

Etkili iletişim becerileri, gündelik hayatta olduğu kadar mesleki anlamda da ilişkileri kolaylaştırıcı olabilmektedir. Dolayısıyla tüm meslek gruplarında bellirli düzeyde iletişim becerileri gerekmektedir. Turizm çalışanlarının hizmet sektörü içerisinde yer alması iletişim becerilerinin yüksek olmasını gerektirmektedir. Bu nedenle turizm sektörünün önemli bir kısmını oluşturan otel işletmeleri çalışanların iletişim becerilerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’na kayıtlı Artvin ilinde bulunan toplam 13 turizm işletme belgeli otel işletmesi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veriler İletişim Becerileri Değerlendirme Ölçeği anket formu ile elde edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda otel işletmeleri çalışanlarının demografik bilgileri ortaya çıkarılmış ve otel işletmelerinde çalışanların iletişim becerileri ile ilgili görüşleri anket formunda Likert tipi sorularla saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda otel işletmesi çalışanlarının eğitim düzeyleri ve çalıştıkları pozisyonun “iletişim becerileri” ile ilişkili olduğu sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.Effective communication skills can facilitate relationships in the professional sense as well as in daily life. Therefore, communication skills are required at a certain level in all profession groups. The presence of tourism workers in the service sector requires high communication skills for this reason, it is aimed to examine the communication skills in the hotel management employees, which constitute a significant part of the tourism sector. The sample of the research consist of 13 tourism operation certified hotels in Artvin registered with Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The study data was obtained by Communication Skills Evaluation Scale Survey. As a result of analysis of data, the demographic information of hotel management employees are searched out and opinions of the employees of the hotel companies about the communication skills were tired to be determined with the question of Likert type. In this context, it has been found that the level of education of the hotel management employees and the position they are working associated with communication skills

Mediterranean Diet and Health

In recent years, much emphasis has been placed on the relationship between the diet form known as the “Mediterranean diet” and various diseases. The Mediterranean diet is considered as one of the most effective diet forms in relation to a healthy diet and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Research has demonstrated that adherence to this diet form has contributed positively to protecting dental health and reducing mortality rates stemming from neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s), Type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cancer (particularly colon and breast cancers), mental function diseases, lower incidence of atherosclerosis, and chronic degenerative diseases. It has further been determined that this diet form, positively affects the improvement of general health status, with its positive effects on living a healthy life and quality aging.
