The loads testing on in-house-fabricated flight configuration Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) outer boot ring segments. The tests determined the bending strength and bending stiffness of these beams and showed that they compared well with the hand analysis. The bending stiffness test results compared very well with the finite element data

Cyclic loads tests of carbon involute solid rocket motor outer boot ring segments

    Get PDF
The cyclic loads tests performed on the 30-in. segments of the DM-9 (Development Motor-9) configuration solid rocket outer boot ring are described. The tests found that the effect of the cyclic loadings on the structural integrity of the outer boot ring was negligible. The results are compared with a hand analysis of the strength of a 30-in. outer boot ring segment. Several phenomena of engineering interest are also described

    Releasable locking mechanisms

    Get PDF
In the aerospace field spacecraft components are held together by separation systems until a specific time when they must be separated or deployed. Customarily a threaded joining bolt engages one of the components to be joined, and a threaded nut is placed on that bolt against the other component so they can be drawn together by a releasable locking assembly. The releasable locking assembly herein includes a plunger having one end coupled to one end of a plunger bolt. The other end is flanged to abut and compress a coil spring when the plunger is advanced toward the interface plane between the two components. When the plunger is so advanced toward the interface plane, the end of the plunger bolt can be connected to the joining bolt. Thus during retraction the joining bolt is drawn to one side of the interface plane by the force of the expanding spring

Improving nursing documentation via reducing the written work load

    Get PDF
With the growth in the health care industry around the world and introduction to new technologies in the system, the uses of traditional methods in nursing practices are reducing. These modern work practices are meant to reduce human effort without compromising on the quality. Where as dealing with documentation whereas always has been a major challenge in providing the better health care. The project thus outlines the improving nursing documentation via reducing the written work load to increase work efficiency

Does Corporate Governance Constrain Earnings Management in an Unstable Economic and Political Environment?

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of corporate governance structures on earnings management behavior in a weakly governed and politically unstable environment. A panel of data from 35 non-bank companies listed on the Palestine Exchange between 2012 and 2019 was employed. A fixed effects regression model was used to examine the impact of certain board characteristics (board size, board meetings, and audit committee formation) and ownership structures (institutional ownership, foreign ownership, and ownership concentration) on earnings management in the volatile and risky political and economic environment of Palestine. The findings indicate that corporate governance and ownership systems in Palestine appear to be ineffective in constraining earnings management practices. None of the board attributes appear to constrain earnings management practices. However, there is weak evidence to show that ownership concentration has some effect in curbing earnings manipulation. The findings of this study are expected to increase awareness among Palestinian regulators, investors, and other policymakers regarding the role of boards of directors and institutional and foreign shareholders in monitoring Palestinian listed companies to enhance corporate governance and the quality of financial reporting

Turnover propensity among nurses in Pakistan: Overview and management

    Get PDF
Human resource management is an important stake of health care systems. Today, the increase in the burden of diseases has increased the demands of health care professionals in particular Nurses who are the key assets to these agencies. Unfortunately, there is a huge difference between the numbers of nurses between developed and developing countries. Various databases were used to identify this gap, rationales behind its existence and recommendations to improve it

The graded Betti numbers of truncation of ideals in polynomial rings

    Let R=K[x1,,xn]R=\mathbb{K}[x_1,\dots,x_n], a graded algebra S=R/IS=R/I satisfies Nk,pN_{k,p} if II is generated in degree kk, and the graded minimal resolution is linear the first pp steps, and the kk-index of SS is the largest pp such that SS satisfies Nk,pN_{k,p}. Eisenbud and Goto have shown that for any graded ring R/IR/I, then R/IkR/I_{\geq k}, where Ik=IMkI_{\geq k}=I\cap M^k and M=(x1,,xn)M=(x_1,\dots,x_n), has a kk-linear resolution (satisfies Nk,pN_{k,p} for all pp) if k0k\gg0. For a squarefree monomial ideal II, we are here interested in the ideal IkI_k which is the squarefree part of IkI_{\geq k}. The ideal II is, via Stanley-Reisner correspondence, associated to a simplicial complex ΔI\Delta_I. In this case, all Betti numbers of R/IkR/I_k for k>min{deg(u)uI}k>\min\{\text{deg}(u)\mid u\in I\}, which of course is a much finer invariant than the index, can be determined from the Betti diagram of R/IR/I and the ff-vector of ΔI\Delta_I. We compare our results with the corresponding statements for IkI_{\ge k}. (Here II is an arbitrary graded ideal.) In this case we show that the Betti numbers of R/IkR/I_{\ge k} can be determined from the Betti numbers of R/IR/I and the Hilbert series of R/IkR/I_{\ge k}

Dynamic Properties of an Aggregate Econometric Model of Pakistan's Economy

    Get PDF
The use of econometric models for policy planning and decision-making is wide-spread in many developed as well as developing countries. One of the most vexing problems of such an exercise is to construct a model that could adequately reproduce the dynamic behaviour of an economy. The recent experience in modelling has shown that policy objectives could be achieved only by recognising the complex relationship between real and monetary variables. Such an integrated framework .could be used not only to compute impact and dynamic multipliers and to determine the stability of the model, but also to evaluate the relative importance offiscal and monetary policies. In the present paper, this objective is achieved by constructing a linear yet dynamic macro-econometric model of Pakistan's economy.' This model although has a Keynesian structure, but it could easily and meaningfully be solved to determine the values of endogenous variables especially income in terms of pure exogenous variables. In order to establish the dynamic stability of the model, we seek to present the "necessary conditions" that will depend not only on the structure of the model, but also on the estimated paramters of structural equations. After establishing the stability of the model, the next step is policy evaluation. In this regard the impact and the dynamic multipliers will be computed. These multipliers will then be used to assess the relative importance of fiscal and monetary policy variables on income and other dependent variables such as consumption and investment. The time period under consideration ranges between 1959-60 and 1987-88 which includes dramatic events like two wars with India, nationalisation, the oil price hike, recession and floods
