    Nazm Jawen on ‘Ilmu Al-Tajwīd and Qirā’āt A La Pesantren (A Study on Tanwīr al-Qāri fī Kalām al-Bāri’ by KH M. Mundzir Nadzir)

    The history of Islamic intellectualism in Indonesia has now and then been strongly tied to the role of pesantren and kiai, both of which have always been deeply engaging to the agenda of disseminating Islamic teachings to the society. Their attempts including the use of certain model and styles in producing contributions to the agenda show the unique literary traditions of Nusantara ulama, on the one hand, and constitute a communicative way of delivering their academic thoughts. This article delves into Tanwīr al-Qārī fī Kalām al-Bārī’, a book on tajwīd and qirā’āt by KH M Mundzir Nadzir. Closely reading the book, I find that it indeed explains important points of the two disciplines but does reveal social, moral, spiritual, and even theological stances of its author. The locality appears here and there in varying forms, including idioms, and thus attests the dynamic of pesantren’s intellectualism in dealing with local context while introducing and keeping survive Islamic teachings in Indonesian context.[Sejarah intelektualisme Islam di Indonesia tidak bisa dilepaskan dari peran pesantren dan para kiai yang selalu berjuang menyampaikan ilmu-ilmu Islam kepada masyarakat. Upaya para kiai menggunakan gaya atau model tertentu dalam menuliskan karya intelektualnya bukan saja memperlihatkan nuansa sastra khas pesantren yang indah, namun juga menjadi salah satu cara yang komunikatif dalam menyampaikan pesan- pesan ilmiahnya. Artikel ini akan mengkaji Kitab Tanwīr al-Qāri fī Kalām al-Bāri’ KH M. Mundzir Nadzir, yang merupakan karya ulama pesantren tentang Ilmu Tajwid dan Qiraat. Artikel ini mengungkap nilai-nilai yang dibangun oleh penulis bersamaan dengan penjelasan mengenai pengetahuan ilmu tajwid dan qiraat. Dengan menganalisis isi buku, tulisan ini menemukan bahwa, sekalipun Tanwīr al-Qāri fī Kalām al-Bāri’ karya KH M. Mundzir Nadzir memang membahas ilmi tajwid dan qira’at, namun pesan-pesan sosial, moral dan spiritual dengan jelas ditemukan di sana. Aspek lokal dalam karya yang menggunakan Naz}m  Jawen ini memperlihatkan intelektualisme Pesantren yang dinamis dalam rangka pengembangan keilmuan Islam.

    Effect of Mix Culture Bacteria and Fungi in Fermented Peanut Hulls-Based Feed Supplement on Physical Quality and In Vitro Rumen Fermentation Parameters

    The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the combination of mix culture bacteria (EM4®:E) and fungi (Trichoderma viridae:TV) on physical quality and in vitro rumen fermentation parameters of peanut hull-based feed supplements. Basal feed was divided into four treatments, which were: P0 (BF); P1 (E:25%+TV:75%); P2 (E:50%+TV:50%),; and P3 (E:75%+TV:25%); and each treatment had three replications. Feeds were fermented facultative anaerobically for nine days. The observed parameters were physical qualities (color, odor, fungi appearance and pH), and in vitro rumen fermentation parameters (rumen pH, microbial protein content, and total volatile fatty acid content). Data were analyzed using one way ANOVA design, and the significance of differences were tested using Kruskall-Wallis test for the physical qualities data and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test for in vitro rumen fermentation parameters. Results showed that the combination of E and TV at different level did not affect odor and the fungi appearance parameters (P≥0.05), however, it significantly affected P≤0.05) color change from blackish (1.64) in P0 to brownish in P1, P2 and P3 of 2.44; 2.69; and 2.80, respectively. The pH also decreased significantly (P≤0.05) by 10.67%.  Treatment also did not affect the rumen pH, microbial protein content, and total volatile fatty acid content (P≥0.05). It is concluded that the combination of the EM4® 25%: Trichoderma viridae 75% on peanut-hull based feed supplement fermentation gives the best result on color and pH fermented feed product without affecting the rumen fermentation process

    This Research was conducted to determine the effect of Lerak fruit (Sapindus rarak) extraction as feed additives on meat, blood, and fecal cholesterol of broiler were fed with basal diet. sixty male broiler chickens strain Lohmann 7 days old were divided into four groups of treatment with Lerak fruit estract as saponin source with different levels 0, 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5%. Each treatment consisted of three replication, and each replication using five chickens. Data with collected were meat, blood, and fecal cholesterol. Data were analyzed, using one way ANOVA design, the significancy of different were tested by Least Significant Different (LSD) test. The result from this research showed that the treatments using saponin from Lerak Fruit extraction with different level (0; 0.1, 0.3; 0.5%) decreased significantly (P<0.05) meat cholesterol and blood triglyceride levels, consecutively: (118.21; 98.45; 98.34; 91.03 mg/100 ml) and (66.67; 51.85; 29.63; 33.33 mg/100 ml). The treatments also decreased significantly (P<0.05) blood cholesterol, blood HDL level and cholesterol in excreta, consecutively: (105.26; 126.32; 147.37; 143.86 mg/100 ml), (31.67; 38.87; 39.60; 44.00 mg/100 ml) and (179.11; 212.77; 265.93; 207.59 mg/100 ml), and also significantly affected (P<0.01) to blood LDL level (81.06; 94.47; 107.77; 104.26 mg/100 ml). It could be concluded that the addition of saponin from Lerak fruit extraction up yo 0.5% can affect to cholesterol level and metabolism in broiler chicken.
