    Correlations and Event-by-Event Fluctuations in High Multiplicity Events Produced in 208^{208}Pb-208^{208}Pb Collisions

    Analysis of high multiplicity events produced in 158A GeV/c 208^{208}Pb-208^{208}Pb collisions is carried out to study the event-by-event fluctuations. The findings reveal that the method of scaled factorial moments can be used to identify the events having densely populated narrow phase space bins. A few events sorted out adopting this approach are individually analyzed. It is observed that these events do exhibit large fluctuations in their pseudorapidity, η\eta and azimuthal angle, ϕ\phi distributions arising out due to some dynamical reasons. Two particle Δη\Delta\eta-Δϕ\Delta\phi correlation study applied to these events too indicates that some complex two-dimensional structure of significantly high magnitude are present in these events which might have some dynamical origin. The findings reveal that the method of scaled factorial moments may be used as an effective triggering for events with large dynamical fluctuations.Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures (Accepted for publication in Advances in High Energy Physics

    The rise of business in the city of Bandung has caused the intensity of competition to be very high. Small-scale businesses are very difficult to survive especially facing companies that have larger economies of scale. Innovation can be one way for SMEs to compete. Previous research stated that implementing a design strategy can trigger opportunities to create innovation in the company. This study examines how design is used by Soca companies to produce innovation as a strategy to survive in competition. Soca is an SME in Bandung that produces glasses with wood materials. As a startup, Soca is considered successful in penetrating the market amid intense competition. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive case study approach. Primary data is obtained through document review, in-depth interviews and observations.     Water Stability and Nutrient Leaching of Different Levels of Maltose Formulated Fish Pellets

    The effects of different levels of maltose on feed pellet water stability and nutrient leaching were studied. Five treatments, including control with three replicates with setup (0.0, 20, 25, 30 and 35%). Pellet leaching rates were used to indicate pellet water stability. The results show that the presence of maltose in the diets significantly improved pellet water stability (p<0.05), but the leaching rates of the feed (35% maltose) observed higher than other feeds. Increased maltose resulted in the corresponding decrease in pellet stability. The protein leaching rate of control feed and feed (20% maltose) was significantly (p < 0.05) lower than the rates of other diets The lipid leaching rate of control feed was lower than the rates of other diets, while the feed (35% maltose) was more leaching rate. It improved feeds water stability is one important reason why maltose enhances fish growth

    Modulational instability in binary spin-orbit-coupled Bose-Einstein condensates

    We study modulation instability (MI) of flat states in two-component spin-orbit-coupled (SOC) Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in the framework of coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations for two components of the pseudospinor wave function. The analysis is performed for equal densities of the components. Effects of the interaction parameters, Rabi coupling, and SOC on the MI are investigated. In particular, the results demonstrate that the SOC strongly alters the commonly known MI (immiscibility) condition, g12>g1g2g_{12} > g_{1} g_{2}, for the binary superfluid with coefficients g1,2g_{1,2} and g12g_{12} of the intra- and interspecies repulsive interactions. In fact, the binary BEC is always subject to the MI under the action of the SOC, which implies that the ground state of the system is plausibly represented by a striped phase

    Market Power and Efficiency of Islamic Banking and Conventional Banking in Indonesia

    ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) of banking industry requires both Islamic and conventional banking to improve their efficiency because the competition in banking market industry will be more intense. Therefore, this study aims to identify the type of hyphotesis of industrial organization which exists in Islamic and conventional banks in order to investigate their readiness for AEC. The research sampling consists of 10 Islamic banks and 10 conventional banks from January 2009 to December 2016. To measure x-efficiency and scale efficiency, this research uses Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Meanwhile, the concentration is measured by Lerner index. The hypothesis is tested by using panel regression. The result shows SCP (Structure-Conduct-Performance) hypothesis is closely applied to Islamic and conventional banks because market concentration significantly influences profitability. RMP (Relative Market Power) hypothesis is also closely applied to Islamic and conventional banking, this indicates Indonesian banking has market power in determining prices and this condition makes the profit higher. RES (Relative Efficiency Structure) and SES (Scale Efficiency Structure) hypothesis do not exist in both conventional and Islamic banks because x-efficiency and scale efficiency do not affect profitability, concentration, and market share simultaneously. Market power and efficiency researches are commonly conducted in conventional banking, however there are only a few research in Islamic banking area.
