Non-native species are those that have been transported, via human actions, from one continent and introduced into another (Lockwood et al. 2007). In the 1980s, red lionfish, Pterois volitans (Linnaeus, 1758), traded in the US aquarium industry from the Pacific Ocean, was introduced into the coral reefs off Florida\u27s coast by aquarium hobbyists (Morris and Whitfield 2009). It is unknown how this introduction occurred, but after more than 20 years the red lionfish population is widespread, occupying a large portion of the Western Atlantic (Schofield 2010) where it represents a threat to the marine ecosystem (Green et al. 2012). The population appears impossible to eradicate since it can live to depths up to 100 m, where individuals consume native small crustaceans and reef fish (Morris and Akins 2009, Green et al. 2012). Relatively nothing is known regarding biological aspects of the red lionfish in the southern Gulf of Mexico (GOM), despite this being the area of the GOM where lionfish were first detected in late 2009 (Aguilar-Perera and Tuz-Sulub 2010). The present note aims to document the presence of a large-bodied P. volitans whose size is the maximum ever recorded in the GOM

In recent decades, the implementation of gender policies and programs have led to greater participation and access of women in all spheres of public life, creating significant awareness about measures having to do with reconciliation of work and family life. However, despite the achievements, discrimination based on sex is gaining prominence in certain areas of society, thus requiring a strong commitment by governments and institutions to continue working for the rights of women, and in the implementation of positive measures aimed at equity. Universities, in their role as drivers of the creation and spreading of knowledge, acquire a major responsibility in implementing this policy of equal opportunities, developing strategies and tools that promote respect and equal rights and opportunities of women and men of the university community. From this commitment to between gender and university, we present results of research whose aims are to determine the access of women and men to the various departments of the University of Seville in order to propose measures to promote the balanced participation of women and men in activities and programs for the university community.I Plan de Igualdad de la Universidad de Sevill

Described are the length-weight (LWR) and length-length (LLR) relationships of the Hogfish, Lachnolaimus maximus, off the northern Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Fish specimens collected (N = 292) with speargun from April to September each year from 2011 through 2013, ranged in size from 16.6-36.5 cm FL and 94-842 g in weight. There were significant differences in hogfish fork length between years (F2,291 = 11.28, p \u3c 0.05), with larger individuals found in 2012. The LWRs calculated were highly significant (p \u3c 0.05, r2 = 0.95 - 0.97; pooled data r2 = 0.95) and significant differences between the slopes of the LWRs (F5,291 = 245.94, p \u3c 0.05) between the three years were detected. Exponent b in the LWRs (2.33 -2.70; pooled data 2.58) were different from the isometric value (b = 3), thus L. maximus in the Southern Gulf of Mexico has hypoallometric growth
