COMPARISON OF PRE, POST AND SYMMETRICAL DISPERSION COMPENSATION SCHEME WITH 10 GB/S NRZ LINK FOR SCM SYSTEM

In this paper, the implementation of subcarrier multiplexing technique is developed and investigated with pre-, post- and symmetrical-dispersion compensation methods for 10 Gb/s non-return to zero (NRZ) links using standard and dispersion compensated fibers through computer simulations to optimize high data rate optical transmission. Mathematical analysis is done to evaluate performance in term of bit error rate. Simulation is done using Optisys Software version 10.0. Motivation to this research is to compare all three compensation methods and it is found that the symmetrical compensation method is superior to pre- and post-compensation methods. On comparing pre- and post-compensation methods, it is found that the later is superior to the former. A 10-Gb/s SCM test bed has been set up in which 4 * 2.5 Gb/s data streams are combined into one wavelength that occupies a 20-GHz optical bandwidth. Thus by using these comparisions one can get a promising system to the symmetric high capacity access network with high spectral efficiency, cost effective, good flexibility

The strategic thinking involving business model innovation has been focusing on the issue of the ways in which organizations can capture more value. But changing markets, technologies and legal structures pose a major challenge to the driving forces behind business models in terms of running the business. The purpose of this paper is to advance the comprehension of significance of business model innovation related to the aspect of business continuity. This paper also presents a review of business model innovation literature through which main elements leading to the aspect of business continuity have been brought to the light. While our discussion also draws examples from the markets of Middle East but the theoretical framework constructed has general applicability. We conclude by emphasizing that the aspect of building business continuity in the course of business model innovation can be a dynamic capability. Implementation of Enterprise Risk Management practices

The existence of complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity in current business environment promotes corporates need to establish good risk governance. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) has been considered as a way to achieve good risk governance to deal with both upside (e.g. exploit opportunities) and downside (e.g. reduce insolvency) of risk and uncertainty. ERM holistically treats all risk to achieve organisation objective in normal, volatile and crisis situations. The thesis tackles issues in the implementation of ERM and how it has been adopted and implemented in Indian and UK insurance market. Mixed research methods have been employed from a qualitative stand point to explore the research issues, consisting of two surveys in UK and India, over 50 interviews and two case studies in the Indian and UK insurance markets. The research revealed that there is an ambiguity in the understanding of the definitions of ERM and risk appetite across both countries. Major issues in ERM implementation in Indian insurance market are fraud, under-risk reporting and insufficient resources to develop an appropriate risk culture. In the UK insurance market issues are related to customer complaints, fines/penalties, over-risk reporting and lack of capital efficiency. Regulatory risk seen as a major risk in both market, though, in the Indian market lack of regulation is the issue whereas in the UK insurance market lack of clarity in insurance regulation has been emphasised. From intuitional theory and strategic change perspective, the research presents cross-country comparative case studies highlighting four emerging ERM strategies based on the different state of development and maturity of companies: ‘Rudimentary’, ‘Anticipatory’, ‘Resilient’ and ‘Transformatory’ strategies. The case studies highlight the issues within the two insurance companies both internally and externally in a nascent and a mature market. Before companies can adopt a transformatory strategy, both companies require a fundamental understanding of strategic change that eventually can pave the way to good risk governance. Adopting the cognitive lens of strategic change will not only enhance company specific risk-based capabilities but it will improve industry risk-based capabilities through development of professional competence

Mediation of Lazy Update Propagation in a Replicated Database over a Decentralized P2P Architecture

While replicating data over a decentralized Peer-to- Peer (P2P) network, transactions broadcasting updates arising from different peers run simultaneously so that a destination peer replica can be updated concurrently, that always causes transaction and data conflicts. Moreover, during data migration, connectivity interruption and network overload corrupt running transactions so that destination peers can experience duplicated data or improper data or missing data, hence replicas remain inconsistent. Different methodological approaches have been combined to solve these problems: the audit log technique to capture the changes made to data; the algorithmic method to design and analyse algorithms and the statistical method to analyse the performance of new algorithms and to design prediction models of the execution time based on other parameters. A Graphical User Interface software as prototype, have been designed with C #, to implement these new algorithms to obtain a database synchronizer-mediator. A stream of experiments, showed that the new algorithms were effective. Study of inflammatory markers for COVID-19 in control population and in pregnant women: a systematic review

COVID-19 infection is an inflammatory state and has varied presentation ranging from mild to severe condition. The second wave of COVID-19 resulted in greater mortality and morbidity as compared to first wave both in general as well as in pregnant patient. As the progression of disease is rapid and fatal hence there is a need of reviewing relevant inflammatory markers for predicting the disease course and severity. The inflammatory markers considered are Interleukins, CRP, LDH, serum Ferritin, Neutrophil/ lymphocyte ratio and in some cases serum Procalcitonin. These markers are raised in other inflammatory conditions also and therefore the maximum predictability of various markers differs in different conditions. COVID-19 in pregnancy in itself is challenging as it alters the immunity and hemodynamic and therefore the value of these markers in pregnancy can affect the sensitivity and specificity in predicting the severity of the disease. This review will evaluate the role of inflammatory markers in general population as well as pregnancy with regards to their prognostication in assessing the disease severity

Ganesa has long been familiar to the people of Thailand but increasingly evident are the Ganesa cults flourishing in Bangkok. In the process, the deity appears to be acquiring new roles and functions. Ganesa now serves in a number of capacities for some; he is a “fxer,” a deity of last resort that can help devotees to overcome obstacles in their lives. Not surprisingly, the growing popularity of the deity is reflected in a rapidly expanding trade in Ganesa images and icons, displayed in shopping mall exhibitions in a variety of forms, colours, shapes and sizes. Readily available at most of Bangkok’s major retail outlets, Ganesa icons are traded online via social media. This paper attempts to explore this phenomenon, both by examining shifting belief practices associated with Ganesa locally and by looking at how these shifts are reflected in the evolving trade in Ganesa iconography. EVALUATION OF ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF VOLATILE OIL FROM MENTHA SPICATA L.

Volatile oil from the herbs of Mentha spicata L. (family Lamiaceae) were extracted from ten different natural habitats of Uttarakhand and their antibacterial potential was analyzed. Leaves oil were extracted by hydro distillation using Clavenger’s apparatus. The oil yield varied from 0.57%-1.4%. The essential oil rich in carvone and piperitone oxide were exploited for determining antibacterial potentials by disc diffusion assay. These oils showed antibacterial activities against three gram negative (Salmonella enterica enterica, Escherichia Coli and Pasturella multocida) and one gram positive (Staphyllococcus aureus) bacteria with varying magnitudes.
