Within a multi-referential theoretical framework, the issue of organizational culture has been a subject for multiple conceptual developments and different ideological and political appropriations. In the field of education and in the specific context of school organizations, the cultural and symbolic approaches were subjected to some theoretical inflections. These can only be understood in the global framework of international policies of neoliberal and neoconservative nature. First, this paper critically discusses how the issue of organizational culture in school context was put in perspectives at a time when some political-ideological objectives and values were associated to modernization and rationalization ideologies. Based on the analysis of a great number of researches included in four electronic databases with an international scope, it then discusses the main theoretical, conceptual and methodological trends of this field of study, stressing the place and statute of school as a privileged research context, namely in the reflexive and critical domain.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Supplementary Material for: Clinical and Prognostic Impact of the Warburg Effect in Esophageal Carcinoma: Monocarboxylate Transporters as Candidates for Therapeutic Targeting

Introduction: Esophageal cancer (EC) seems to display increased glycolytic activity, but clinical studies on the expression/prognostic significance of glycometabolism-related proteins, as well as functional assays, are missing. Methods: Expression of 10 glycolytic biomarkers was evaluated by immunohistochemistry in tissue sections from 95 patients. Two esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cell lines were used to assess the effect of monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) downregulation on cell viability and extracellular lactate/glucose accumulation. Results: Expression of MCT1, MCT4, CD147, and GLUT1 was significantly associated with an ESCC histopathology, while a poor clinicopathological profile was seen in GLUT1- and LDHA-positive EC cases. In the ESCC group, MCT1 immunoreactivity is associated with high TNM stage and metastasis. The 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was significantly influenced by MCT4 and CAIX positivity and HKII negativity. Those biomarkers were considered independent prognostic factors of OS in multivariate analysis. Dual inhibition of MCT1/4 expression decreased cell viability and extracellular lactate accumulation in ESCC cells. Conclusion: Elevated glycolytic rates correlate with a poor clinicopathological profile in EC patients. MCT4 and CAIX positivity independently predict a worse prognosis. Due to the lack of information on treatment modalities, we could not further infer the role of these biomarkers in predicting response to therapy, which needs to be assessed in future studies. In addition, MCT1/4 targeting should be performed both “in vitro” and “in vivo” to further explore its impact on tumor growth and response to classical therapies. HKII expression and function, particularly in the tumor stroma, should be investigated

Efeito do nível e do tamanho de impurezas nas propriedades físicas da massa granular de feijão Effect of level and size of impurities on the physical properties of the granular mass of beans

The objective of this study was to determine experimentally the values of bulk density and porosity for grains of the Carioquinha and Jalo varieties of bean and to adjust mathematical equations to the experimental data, as a function of level and size of impurities in the product mass. The results obtained in this work point to the conclusion that the increase of the level of impurities smaller than the grains increased the bulk density and reduced the porosity, and that the increase of the level of larger impurities than the grains reduced the bulk density and increased the porosity of the granular product for both the varieties. The values of bulk density and porosity of the mass of bean grains differed among the analyzed varieties, the values of the bulk density of the variety Carioquinha being superior, while the porosity value was found to be inferior to that observed for the variety Jalo, for moisture content of 12% wet base

The objective of the present research was to evaluate the effect of single sunflower crop on soil aggregation under different tillage systems. Four tillage systems were used: heavy disk harrow + leveling harrow (GA), leveling harrow (GN), sowing on straw (SP) without tillage (PD), in the autumn-winter, and chisel plow + leveling harrow in the spring-summer cultivation, except for PD treatment. The research was conducted under field conditions in Candido Mota and Pedrinhas Paulista, Sao Paulo State. Soybean was sowed in the spring-summer season and sunflower in the autumn-winter. The soil aggregates were evaluated before sowing and after sunflower harvest. The use of sunflower crop induced a better soil aggregation in both places, for all tillage systems
