Theory for the Doping Dependence of Spin Fluctuation Induced Shadow States in High-T Superconductors
We analyze the doping dependence of the intensity and energetical position of
shadow states in high -T superconductors within the 2D Hubbard model and
using our recently developed numerical method for the self consistent summation
of bubble and ladder diagrams. It is shown that shadow states resulting from
short range antiferromagnetic correlations occur for small but finite
excitation energies which decrease for decreasing doping, reflecting a
dynamically broken symmetry with increasing lifetime. Simultanously, the
intensity of these new states increases, the quasiparticle dispersion is
strongly flattened, and a pseudogap in the density of states occurs. Finally,
we discuss the importance of flat bands at the Fermi level and nesting of the
Fermi surface as general prerequisites for the observability of shadow states.Comment: 9 pages (TeX) with 3 figures (Postscript
Comparison of bread wheat varieties with different breeding origin under organic and low input management
The aims of the study were to compare 37 bread wheat varieties with different breeding origin under conventional and organic farming conditions in Hungary and Austria for three years and to identify traits highly sensitive to management systems that could be separated according to their suggested selecting environments. According to the results, heading date, sensitivity to leaf rust and powdery mildew had high heritability, thus, for economic reasons, it is reasonable to select for these traits in conventional fields even if the selection target is organic agriculture. On the contrary, selection for grain yield, test weight, leaf-inclination and vigorous growth should be done later in the target environment. It was concluded that the selecting environment has measurable effects on the performance of bread wheat varieties. Our results could help organic breeders in their selection work, especially in the continental climatic zone of Europe
Fermi surface induced lattice distortion in NbTe
The origin of the monoclinic distortion and domain formation in the quasi
two-dimensional layer compound NbTe is investigated. Angle-resolved
photoemission shows that the Fermi surface is pseudogapped over large portions
of the Brillouin zone. Ab initio calculation of the electron and phonon
bandstructure as well as the static RPA susceptibility lead us to conclude that
Fermi surface nesting and electron-phonon coupling play a key role in the
lowering of the crystal symmetry and in the formation of the charge density
wave phase
