On Modelling the Persistence of Profits in the Long Run: An Analysis of 156 US Companies, 1950-1999

    Get PDF
Long run persistence in company profits is analyzed for 156 US companies over a fifty-year period using AR1 and structural time series tests. A statistically significant degree of consitstency is found between them in identifying firms persistently above or below the competitive norm. However, the structural time series method detects a higher overall incidence of persistence, with nearly 70% of firms classed as not having converged on Zero, compared with 46% under AR1 estimation. The recently proposed structural approach is seen as a useful additional tool in analysing earnings dynamics, in particular where are complex trends and other dynamic complexities.

    Excited states of 4He droplets

We study low-lying excited states of 4He clusters up to a cluster size of 40 atoms in a variational framework. The ansatz wave function combines two- and three-body correlations, coming from a translationally invariant configuration interaction description, and Jastrow-type short-range correlation. We have previously used this scheme to determine the ground-state energies of 4He and 3He clusters. Here we present an extension of this ansatz wave function having a good quantum angular momentum L. The variational procedure is applied independently to the cases with L = 0,2,4, and upper bounds for the corresponding energies are thus obtained. Moreover, centroid energies for L excitations are calculated through the use of sum rules. A comparison with previous calculations is also made.Fil: Guardiola, R.. The research was conducted for 56 days from September – November 2016. The aim of this research to determine the number of leaves water lettuce meal fermented in fish feed formulation River Corp (Leptobarbus hoevenii) the effect on growth, feed efficiency and protein retention. This study uses a completely randomized design (RAL) with one factor, 5 level treatments and 3 replications. The fish used in this research with size 7-9 g in weight. Treatments with water lettuce leaves meal fermentation P0 (0%), P1 (10%), P2 (20%), P3 (30%), P4 (40%) with feed protein content of 24,75%. The results showed that fermentation of water lettuce leaves have significant effect (P<0,05) on growth, feed efficiency and protein retention. Replacement 40% of water lettuce fermentation produced highest digestibility 66,83%, feed efficiency 8,70%, protein retention 12,63% and spesific growth rate 0,67%

Karakterisasi Mutu Ekstrak Daun Sirsak (Annona Muricata L.) Dari Tiga Tempat Tumbuh

The soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) are part of soursop plants that have a potential to be developed as anticancer as it contains annonacin. Annonacin is one of the acetogenins compounds group that are cytotoxic and mostly can be found in soursop plants. In the development of pharmaceutical preparation, apart from their safety and efficacy, quality of medicinal raw materials has been one of the important factors. Soursop leaf extract quality can be affected by their types of growing places. Therefore, the research of the quality characterization of soursop leaf extracts from three different growing places needs to be done in order to identify the quality of the extract used as herbal medicines. Quality inspection of soursop leaf extracts was including non-specific and specific parameters. Soursop leaf samples were obtained from three growing places with different altitude, which were from Tawangmangu, Central Java,; Pasuruan, East Java; and Bogor, West Java. The results showed that the best leaf extracts of soursop was from Pasuruan with non-specific parameters: (water content of 7,15% , ash content of 3,59% and 0,44 ppb levels of aflatoxin G2, and specific parameters: (the concentration of annonacin is 12,80%)

The Utilization of Taro Leaf Silage (Alocasiamacrorhiza) with Marine Yeast Inoculant in Feed of Tambaqui (Colossoma Macropomum)

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of silage use sente leaves on feed efficiency and growth of freshwater pomfret (Colossoma macropomum). The method used in the study is an experimental method by using a completely randomized design (CRD) of the factors with 5 level treatment and 3 replications., With treatment P0 (100% TK: 0% DS), P1 (80% TK: 20% DS ), P2 (60% TK: 40% DS), P3 (40% TK: 60% DS), P4 (20% TK: 80 DS) and P5 (0% TK: 100% DS). The results showed the use of leaf sente 100% was significantly lower than soybean meal, meaning can not fully replace soybean meal. But yielded significant results on the growth and retention of fish protein with the addition of 20 and 40% soybean meal in feed freshwater pomfret (Colossoma macropomum). The best treatment is obtained on the use of silage flour sente leaves as much as 40% with an average daily growth rate of 3.98% and feed efficiency of 45.63%

The purpose of this research was to know the amount of fermented waterhyacinth meal in diets on growth and feed efficiency of Leptobarbus heovenijuveniles. Five isonitrogenous (30% crude protein) experimental diets wasformulated to contain 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40% fermented water hyacinth meal and100, 90, 80,70,and 60% soybean meal (P0, P1, P2, P3, and P4, respectively).Completely randomized design (CRD) was used in this experiment. The result showed that a diet containing 40% fermented water hyacinth mealand 60% soybean meal (P4) support a good specific growth rate (2.18%/day), feedefficiency (29.83%) and protein retention (11.99%). It this concluded that up to 60%soybean meal can be substituted with fermented water hyacinth meal in the diets forLeptobarbus hoeveni juveniles
