Symmetry restoration of the soft pion corrections for the light sea quark distributions in the small xx region

The soft pion correction at high energy may play a crucial role in non-perturbative parts of sea quark distributions. In this paper, we show that, while the soft pion correction for the strange sea qaurk distribution is suppressed in the large and the medium xx region compared with that for the up and the down sea quark one, it can become large and SU(3) flavor symmetric in the very small xx region. This gives us a good reason for the symmetry restoration of light sea quark distributions required by the mean charge sum rule for the light sea quarks. Then, by estimating this sum rule with the help of the results obtained by the soft pion correction, it is argued that there is a large symmetry restoration of the strange sea quark in the region from x=10−2x=10^{-2} to 10−610^{-6} at Q2∼1Q^2\sim 1 GeV.Comment: 22 pages including 4 eps figures, ReVTeX, to appear in Phys. Alarm detection in noise work environments: the influence of hearing protection devices

    Get PDF
Industrial machines are typical noisy sources causing discomfort and risk to the workers’ health. Studying in what extent individual hearing protection devices influences, or not, the perception of alarms in industrial environments and in the presence of background noise was the main aim of this work. The warning signal used was a warning signal from a textile finishing machine and the background noise was produced by a white noise generator. The tests were performed with the subjects in an audiometric booth using different hearing protection devices. The obtained results shown evidence that, under the used test conditions, earplugs and passive earmuffs were the devices showing less interference with the perception of warning signals in the presence of background noise. At the same time it was found that the active (level dependent) earmuffs interfere with the perception of the warning signal in the same conditions

Lagrangian formulation for noncommutative nonlinear systems

In this work we use the well known formalism developed by Faddeev and Jackiw to introduce noncommutativity within two nonlinear systems, the SU(2) Skyrme and O(3) nonlinear sigma models. The final result is the Lagrangian formulations for the noncommutative versions of both models. The possibility of obtaining different noncommutative versions for these nonlinear systems is demonstrated.Comment: 8 pages. Revex 4.

Granular cell tumor of the breast: correlations between imaging and pathology findings

OBJECTIVE: To review the imaging features of granular cell tumors of the breast (on mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging), establishing a pathological correlation, in order to familiarize radiologists with this entity and make them aware of the differential diagnoses, other than malignancy, of lesions with spiculated margins. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed the medical records (from a clinical-pathology database and picture archiving and communication system) of five patients with a pathologically confirmed diagnosis of granular cell tumor of the breast, treated at the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Lisbon, in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, between January 2012 and December 2018. RESULTS: All five tumors exhibited imaging features highly suggestive of malignancy (BI-RADS 5 lesions), namely spiculated margins, significant depth, and posterior acoustic shadowing (on ultrasound). One tumor showed a kinetic curve indicative of washout on magnetic resonance imaging, two were adherent to the pectoralis muscle, and one was accompanied by skin retraction. Pathology provided the definitive diagnosis in all cases. CONCLUSION: Granular cell tumors of the breast pose a diagnostic challenge because they can present with clinical and imaging features mimicking malignancy, and the diagnosis is therefore provided by pathology. Radiologists should be familiarized with this entity, so they can be aware of the fact that breast lesions with spiculated margins can be indicative of diagnoses other than malignancy.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The beef cattle is the principal economical activity developed in the plain Pantaneira. The introduction of the artificial insemination (AI) that is essential for the improvement of the beef cattle, principally, when there wants to be introduced a program of genetic animal improvement and to reach bigger profit with the cattle as a whole

Linking entrepreneurial orientation with innovation performance in SMEs; the role of organizational commitment and transformational leadership using smart PLS-SEM

    Get PDF
Entrepreneurial orientation has become an enormously significant construct in the innovation studies literature. Predominantly for SMEs, its role has been widely recognized in almost all regional contexts across the globe. The present study is aimed at investigating the effects of entrepreneurial orientation, transformational leadership and organizational commitment on innovation performance. The data for the present study were collected from 1095 employees working at various levels in SMEs. The present study used partial least square structural equation modeling to examine the constructed hypotheses. The findings suggested the significantly positive direct relationships among entrepreneurial orientations, organizational commitment and innovation performance. Besides, organizational commitment positively mediated the relationships between entrepreneurial orientation and innovation performance. Additionally, this study also found the significant moderation of transformational leadership among entrepreneurship orientation and organizational commitment. Leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises should practice entrepreneurial orientation (innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking) and transformation leadership (articulating a compelling vision, focus on goal achievement, and creative problem solving) to enhance the innovation performance of their firms. Moreover, this study provides a robust mechanism for leaders at SMEs to develop strategies for enhancing the willingness of the firms to bring innovation and offer new products and services. The policymakers should enhance the emotional attachment of employees with their firms, sense of moral obligation to remain with the firm which will, in turn, increase the organizational commitment of employees for innovation performance. The study provides empirical evidence to the resource-based view in the context of SMEs. The study delivers solid theoretical and practical implications to experts, leaders and policymakers.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
