Purpose: To investigate the degree of diabetic patients’ compliance with their prescribed medications, factors responsible for non-compliance and how compliance can be enhanced. Methods: The study involved 220 diabetic patients on anti-diabetic medication (insulin, metformin and gliclazide) visiting the out-patient clinic of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria, who met specific criteria. Questionnaires and patient interviews were used to gather information. Results: A total of 162 patients (73.64 %) of the patients were non-compliant with medications; 22 of the compliant patients were males while 36 were females. Twenty three of the compliant patients had no formal education unlike the rest. There was significant association (p < 0.05) between patients’ financial status and compliance. However, there was no significant association (p > 0.05) between number of prescribed medications, side effects, patients’ level of education, patients’ belief of efficacy of medication and compliance. Conclusion: A very high level of non-compliance to anti-diabetic medication has been observed in the facility studied. Institution of policies that will enhance compliance in these facilities and others in Nigeria is highly recommended. Keywords: Compliance, Adherence, Diabetic, Medication, Prescriptio

This study examined management of pre-stocking, stocking and harvest activities of small-scale catfish farmers in Oyo State, Nigeria. Structured questionnaires were used to collect the needed information and descriptive statistics was use to analyze the collected data. The results show that earthen and concrete pond are the two major ponds utilized by catfish farmers. The cost of pond construction varied with size, location, soil type and the cost of materials; so most farmers rented their ponds. The dimension of earthen pond varies between 53.51m2 and 891.87m2 with a mean of 197.34±2.48m2. The dimension of concrete pond varied between 13.94m2 and 83.61m2, with a mean of 45.89 ± 8.04m2. Many (41.5%) catfish farmers financed their business with their personal savings. Most fish farms are located close to streams for steady supply of water. Most (68.5%) farmers stocked juvenile while 31.5% stocked fingerlings. Farmers fed their fish with respect to their weight, satiation or availability of feed; but majority fed twice per day. Most farmers harvest catfish twice per year. Farmers should therefore know that proper and efficient management of input variables are prerequisite for profitability in catfish production. One hundred and twenty ( n = 120) day old broiler chicks with an average weight (100.00\ub17.00g) were randomly allotted to four dietary treatments, with cassava peel leaf meal (CPLM) as replacement for maize at (starter and finisher phases). The trial was in three phases of adaptation (1-2week),starter (3-5week) and finisher (6-9week).Thirty broilers chicks were assigned to each of the four treatments, while was replicated three times at 10 chicks each. Performance of the chicks such weight gain, feed intake and carcass yield was evaluated and the proximate and fiber quality of the diets and CPLM were also determined. Data obtained for performance evaluated was analyzed using ANOVA, while significant means were separated by SAS of the same package. The outcome revealed that CPLM had (89.93%) dry matter, (18.93%) crude protein and (43.28%) NDF, with anon-significant (p< 0.05) variation in weight gain, enhanced (p< 0.05) feed intake and depressed (p< 0.05) feed to gain ratio as CPLM inclusion increased. Dressing percentage values (69.00-73.00%) were obtained on the treatments. CPLM inclusion (0, 15, 30 and 45%) as replacement for maize in the diets of broilers produced a favourable performance
