The correlation between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) was reported regarding T2DM genes, which contribute in the pathogenesis of PCOS. The current study was aimed to investigate the association of CAPN-10 gene UCSNP-43, UCSNP-44 polymorphism with PCOS.Thirty women with PCOS and 20 healthy, which are matched in their age, were selected to test the anthropometric and biochemical profile of our samples. Nucleic acid of samples was extracted and genotype analysis was done.  The results of patients-hormonal analysis were indicated that the level of follicle stimulating hormone was low and the levels of other hormones were high in comparison to that of healthy women. Biomass (BMI) and lipid profiles of PCOS patients were higher than from these in healthy women. Haplotypes of sequenced samples were determined for each gene fragment. The same three haplotypes of SNPs-43 were identified in both PCOS and controls samples. On the other hand, high diversity of haplotypes was found from SNPs-44. The meta-analysis with fixed and random effects odds ratio (ORs) on the basis of haplotypes frequencies were presented

The Internet of Things is becoming a very promising paradigm with the extensive market adoption of the development of associated technologies, such as; cloud computing, near-field communications, wireless mobile networks, etc. This will expose the future direction of communication around the world. Wireless Sensor Networks together with the existing communication technologies are enabling the continuous integration of controlling and processing the functionality of the Internet of Things applications. Since Wireless Sensor Networks are typically deployed for gathering sensitive information from unattended or hostile environments, they are exposed for security attacks, which are strongly affecting the user privacy and the network performance. There are various security mechanisms and solutions for Wireless Sensor Networks that have been proposed in the previous works. Therefore, it is mandatory to give attention for its applicability and feasibility features in terms of related security challenges based on the Internet of Things perspectives. The purpose of this paper is to explore and show the influence of Wireless Sensor Networks security challenges within the perspective of the Internet of Things and its applications. Consequently, an exploration of the major and minor security requirements in the Wireless Sensor Networks has been made in this paper, accompanied by a classification of the available attacks and threats against these requirements. Finally, a discussion on the Internet of Things security issues and challenges in Wireless Sensor Networks is provided

BACKGROUND: Acute leukemia is considered one of the most diseases that required frequent blood transfusion. Despite that blood transfusion is one of the main parts in the supportive management of acute leukemia patients, still, there are few data showing the exact requirements in regard to blood components for those patients. OBJECTIVES: The aims of this study were to review the predicted amount of blood transfusions needed for a patient with acute leukemia under a regimen of chemotherapy and to verify the transfusion frequency practices, according to the types of acute leukemia, levels of treatment, prognosis, and other demographic factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective cohort study conducted at the National Center of Hematology/Mustansiriyah University from January 2013 to January 2015. Thirty newly diagnosed patients were enrolled in this study. The inclusion criteria included newly diagnosed acute leukemia whether lymphoid or myeloid except acute promyelocytic leukemia (M3) patients who were excluded. All patients subjected to detailed history and routine hematological investigations. They were followed up and assessed during induction and consolidation phases for both disease entities. RESULTS: Thirty patients were included in this study; 20 were male and 10 were female. The mean age was 31.4 years, ranging from 15 to 66 years. There were 15 cases of AML and 15 cases for ALL. The number of transfused units was found to be higher and statistically significant in those below 40 years of age, male patients and in patients with complete remission, while it was not significant for type of disease. CONCLUSION: This study provides information to estimate the anticipated requirements for blood transfusion for those patients in regard to different factors which can be considered as guideline for these tertiary centers for accurate assessment of transfusion requirements and to direct resources for better outcome

This study was conducted to describe the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) within the exon 2 of HLA-DQA1, a gene that encodes a MHC class II antigenthat localized in the surface of many immune cells and they play a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins, as well asto analyze the consequences of non-synonymous SNPs in this gene using several in silicobioinformatics tools in the patients with Hyper thyrotoxicosis Blood samples were collected, DNA was extracted, and one pair of specific PCR primers was designed to amplify exon 2 of thisgene. PCR experiments were optimized and performed, and PCR products were purified and sequenced from both termini. Sequencing results were analyzed, and each observed nsSNP was further analyzed by several computational tools. Out of six observed SNPs, five of them were non-synonymous. It was found that the deleterious effect of these non-synonymous SNPs wasvaried, and the most damaging mutation was V68F followed by K92N. While the T49S and I99M have a mild parallel effect. However, no clear association was revealed between the observed SNPs of HLA-DQA1 gene and the progression of the Hyper thyrotoxicosis disease. Therefore, the associative pattern of this genetic variation with Hyper thyrotoxicosis disease should be interpreted with caution.
