    Lifestyle Demographic and Food Label Consumption

    The lifestyle aspect can influence people buying intention on food label products and services. This paper is conducted to examine on the lifestyle demographic of consumer that need to be highlighted before consumer come up with the buying decision on food labelling products. Knowing how consumer lifestyle pattern is important in order to gain information on food label products about what they most preferred in purchasing the products or services. Furthermore, this study also helps in fulfilling the national agenda in Malaysia National Agro Food Policies 2011–2020. Hence 200 respondents were given a structured questionnaire to know the lifestyle aspect in consumer behaviour of food label consumption the result of this study shows that attitude and awareness of consumer play a crucial role in deciding the food labelling products that contains nutritious, healthy and most important is halal certificate. The major finding shows there are different awareness and attitude of consumers on food labelling towards buying decision when they are in the different of lifestyle aspect. In addition result also shows that consumers are concern about the quality, safety, and nutritional content of food labelling on food products enable to obtain healthy lifestyles

    Demographic Factors of Muslim Youth at Public Universities in Kelantan to Consume Chocolate Bars Based on Halal Label

    Halal products which have been certified by JAKIM are safe to be consumed by consumers. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of demographic factors which are gender, age, and lifestyles towards the intention of Muslim youth at public universities in Kelantan to consume chocolate bars based on the halal label. This study used cross-sectional study with survey method via a questionnaire. Around 334 Muslim youth in public universities, Kelantan was chosen through purposive sampling technique. The results show that gender had a significant relationship with attitude, while lifestyles had significant relationship with the subjective norm and perceived behavioural control towards consuming halal labelled chocolate bars. Food manufacturers especially chocolate manufacturers should listen to consumers’ demands. To create trust in the product among consumers, an important aspect is to provide the appropriate information to make better and satisfactory choices.  

    Food labels' impact assessment on consumer purchasing behavior in Malaysia

    The purpose of this study is to validate the impact of food labels among Malaysian consumers using an extended theory of planned behavior model (TPB). In doing so, the study assessed the direct and indirect effect of food labeling on consumer intention to purchase or otherwise the food products of interest. A stratified random sampling technique was adopted in selecting 2,014 consumers in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The results of structural equation modeling supported the adequacy of the proposed model. This study contributes to and extends the understanding of food labeling and purchasing behavior, identifying the rationales for purchasing of food products with labels that contains information such as halal logo, ingredients, and nutritive value

    Factors affecting consumers’ intention towards purchasing halal food in South Africa: a structural equation modelling

    This research study highlighted the factors that influence the intention of consumers to buy halal food products. In this study, the researchers have chosen to address the gap in the literature pertaining to non-South African consumers’ purchase intention. Non-South Africans are foreign people who reside in South Africa including immigrants, workers, and students. Through utilising the theory of planned behaviour, this study aims to determine the attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behaviour control, and awareness of non-South African towards purchasing halal food products. This also attempts to identify the strongest factor that influences the purchasing intention of halal food by non-South African consumers. The sample of the study consisted of 230 non- South African consumers in Cape Town. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to identify the structural relationships among the constructs identified and to test the study hypotheses. The findings of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between awareness and buying behaviour. Interestingly it found that only the attitude dimension of TPB had a significant relationship with purchase intention, whereas subjective norms and perceived behavioural control did not show a significant relationship with the consumer intention variable

    Push and pull factors of suburban local youth towards career in oil palm plantation

    The rapid expansion of oil palm plantation in Malaysia in 1990, 2.03 million hectares to 5.39 million hectares in 2014 (Malaysia Palm Oil Board 2015) caused required high labour intensive in this sector.More than 78 % of labor (Azman 2014) in this sectors mainly came from Indonesia, Bangladesh and Philippines.Malaysia has become the main attention for the foreign labours to work in this country due to the wages more competitive and generative working condition especially the plantation sector provide the conducive accommodation compared to their origin country. The pressing issue now is the rising social issues of the illegal foreign workers and influx of the foreign workers without work permit.One of the best solutions is hire the local youth to works in oil palm plantation.The main problem is compounded by the fact that it is difficult to hire the local youth workers due to the migration of local youth from government settlers scheme oil palm plantation located in the sub urban area.As a result this scheme area dominated with foreign labour.This study which was conducted in the State of Johore wants to find the push and pull factors\towards the career in oil palm plantation which involved the repulsion, inclination and attraction based on their perceptions .A survey method through questionnaire was used to collect data from 278 of local youth between 16 years to 40 years old as focused respondents which were selected using random sampling method.Descriptive analysis was applied based on their demographic factors and the involvement of the local youth in oil palm plantation

    Study on the customer perception of the tropical fruit vinegar in Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur

    This research will be focus on the differences of perception of customers in Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur toward tropical fruits vinegar. Tropical fruit vinegar was used in this research with Rambutan and Dokong vinegar as the choice. Dokong and Rambutan are tropical seasonal fruits. The production quantity is getting higher these few years, and it results that farmers have to face all negative impact. Next, this study also reduces the import of vinegar product. Furthermore, this study also helps in fulfilling the national agenda in National Agro Food Policies 2011–2020. The amount of respondents are 108 in Kelantan and 69 in Kuala Lumpur. The major finding is Customers in Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan both accepts Natural Fruits Vinegar products. The result also shows that consumers are concern about the quality, safety, and nutritional content of products and prefer glass material for packaging than plastic material

    The perception on halal label of MAMEE products among consumers in Selangor

    The halal label on food products is important to provide health and create awareness among MAMEE consumers. The official halal label on food packaging has been investigated as one of the good health indicators that is beneficial for people who consume it. A shift towards sustainable halal labels should be taken to ensure good absorption of food nutrition. Consumers’ perception of the halal label on MAMEE products has changed due to their awareness of the halal label’s effect on consumer health. This study is conducted to investigate the relationship between demographic factors and the perception of consumers towards MAMEE products based on the halal label. The questionnaire was distributed to 114 respondents in Selangor. The data was analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). From this study, the consumers are able to give a positive perception towards MAMEE products based on the halal label. The result showed a relationship between demographic factors and the perception of MAMEE consumers in Selangor, with significance values below 0.1. The significance of this study is to be a reference for the MAMEE Company to conduct research and development (R&D) in producing halal food products for the consumers

    Youths Participation on Development of Entrepreneurship Agricultural Fresh Produce Preservation Skill Training Module

    Agriculture product preservation can prevent the dumping of waste of fresh produce and also can increase the agriculture entrepreneurship for country development. Most of youth have unemployment problems especially after completing their studies because lack of skills and experience. Through this skill training module, it helps youth to build another career that can help them in future which is involving in agriculture entrepreneurship. This study was developed skill training module to attract youth that want to venture into agriculture product preservation business. A total of 30 respondents in University Malaysia Kelantan, Jeli Campus were joined the training where a developed questionnaire was used to gain the data at the end of the training. For analysis, the descriptive analysis was employed by using SPSS software. Based on the results, all of the respondents gave positive feedback towards this training and many of them interested to join this field of business to improve the quality of life in the future.
