Pesantren and the Preservation of Islam Nusantara

This article describes the background of the rise of an Indonesian moderate Islamic understanding in the midst of a trans-national Islamic movement with the scriptural-puritanical in it's character which spread out pervasively in the country; and this new Islamic model is intolerant to local traditions. Meanwhile, historically, Islam Nusantara has been deeply rooted among the Moslems in archipelago, and this traditional-moderate Islam has been developed by Wali-songo. Islam Nusantara is accommodative to the local cultures and traditions. It produces a moderate and tolerant model of Islam. Exponential distribution for the occurrence of rare patterns in Gibbsian random fields

We study the distribution of the occurrence of rare patterns in sufficiently mixing Gibbs random fields on the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$, $d\geq 2$. A typical example is the high temperature Ising model. This distribution is shown to converge to an exponential law as the size of the pattern diverges. Our analysis not only provides this convergence but also establishes a precise estimate of the distance between the exponential law and the distribution of the occurrence of finite patterns. A similar result holds for the repetition of a rare pattern. We apply these results to the fluctuation properties of occurrence and repetition of patterns: We prove a central limit theorem and a large deviation principle.Comment: To appear in Commun. Math. The low mass end of the neutral gas mass and velocity width functions of galaxies in Λ\LambdaCDM

We use the high-resolution Aquarius cosmological dark matter simulations coupled to the semi-analytic model by Starkenburg et al. (2013) to study the HI content and velocity width properties of field galaxies at the low mass end in the context of $\Lambda$CDM. We compare our predictions to the observed ALFALFA survey HI mass and velocity width functions, and find very good agreement without fine-tuning, when considering central galaxies. Furthermore, the properties of the dark matter halos hosting galaxies, characterised by their peak velocity and circular velocity at 2 radial disk scalelengths overlap perfectly with the inferred values from observations. This suggests that our galaxies are placed in the right dark matter halos, and consequently at face value, we do not find any discrepancy with the predictions from the $\Lambda$CDM model. Our analysis indicates that previous tensions, apparent when using abundance matching models, arise because this technique cannot be straightforwardly applied for objects with masses $M_{vir} < 10^{10} M_{\odot}$.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS, 9 pages, 8 figure

Penilaian Kinerja Karyawan dengan Menggunakan Metode 360 Degree Feedback pada Hotel Xyz Medan

Hotel XYZ sebagai salah satu Perusahaan di bidang pelayanan (jasa) memiliki tujuh departemen. Setiap departemen dipimpin oleh Head of Department (HOD) yang memegang peranan penting pada kegiatan operasional Perusahaan. Syarat fungsi HOD perlu dipertahankan sebagai suatu kesetaraan fungsi terhadap organisasi. Sejak Perusahaan didirikan, penilaian kinerja karyawan masih dilakukan secara tradisional (atasan menilai bawahan) serta belum ada standar penilaian pada Perusahaan. Kelemahan dari penilaian ini adalah hasil penilaian yang dianggap kurang objektif dan kurang akurat karena tidak melibatkan penilaian kinerja dari rekan kerja dan bawahan. Permasalahan ini dapat diselesaikan dengan menggunakan Metode 360-Degree Feedback. Metode ini merupakan metode penilaian kinerja karyawan dengan menggunakan berbagai sumber penilai yang terdiri dari atasan, rekan kerja, bawahan dan diri sendiri (Head of Department) yang mana akan menghasilkan gap penilaian antara orang lain dan diri sendiri sebagai dasar untuk perbaikan dan pengembangan serta identifikasi kelebihan dan kelemahan karyawan. Perbaikan dijadikan sebagai faktor koreksi terhadap kompetensi karyawan sebagai dasar untuk penilaian spesifikasi jabatan. Variabel kompetensi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah keterampilan, pengetahuan dan gaya kepribadian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan penilaian kepada 7 orang HOD terhadap ketiga variabel kompetensi hampir secara keseluruhan hasil penilaian orang lain lebih kecil dibandingkan penilaian diri sendir

Formal Verification of Security Protocol Implementations: A Survey

Automated formal verification of security protocols has been mostly focused on analyzing high-level abstract models which, however, are significantly different from real protocol implementations written in programming languages. Recently, some researchers have started investigating techniques that bring automated formal proofs closer to real implementations. This paper surveys these attempts, focusing on approaches that target the application code that implements protocol logic, rather than the libraries that implement cryptography. According to these approaches, libraries are assumed to correctly implement some models. The aim is to derive formal proofs that, under this assumption, give assurance about the application code that implements the protocol logic. A space division multiplexed free-space-optical communication system that can auto-locate and fully self align with a remote transceiver

Free-Space Optical (FSO) systems offer the ability to distribute high speed digital links into remote and rural communities where terrain, installation cost or infrastructure security pose critical hurdles to deployment. A challenge in any point-to-point FSO system is initiating and maintaining optical alignment from the sender to the receiver. In this paper we propose and demonstrate a low-complexity self-aligning FSO prototype that can completely self-align with no requirement for initial manual positioning and could therefore form the opto-mechanical basis for a mesh network of optical transceivers. MapRDD : finer grained resilient distributed dataset for machine learning

The Resilient Distributed Dataset (RDD) is the core memory abstraction behind the popular data-analytic framework Apache Spark. We present an extension to the Resilient Distributed Dataset for map transformations, that we call MapRDD, which takes advantage of the underlying relations between records in the parent and child datasets, in order to achieve random-access of individual records in a partition. The design is complemented by a new MemoryStore, which manages data sampling and data transfers asynchronously. We use the ImageNet dataset to demonstrate that: (I) The initial data loading phase is redundant and can be completely avoided; (II) Sampling on the CPU can be entirely overlapped with training on the GPU to achieve near full occupancy; (III) CPU processing cycles and memory usage can be reduced by more than 90%, allowing other applications to be run simultaneously; (IV) Constant training step time can be achieved, regardless of the size of the partition, for up to 1.3 million records in our experiments. We expect to obtain the same improvements in other RDD transformations via further research on finer-grained implicit & explicit dataset relations

Mapping the Asymmetric Thick Disk: The Hercules Thick Disk Cloud

The stellar asymmetry of faint thick disk/inner halo stars in the first quadrant first reported by Larsen & Humphreys (1996) and investigated further by Parker et al. (2003, 2004) has been recently confirmed by SDSS (Juric et al. 2008). Their interpretation of the excess in the star counts as a ringlike structure, however, is not supported by critical complimentary data in the fourth quadrant not covered by SDSS. We present stellar density maps from the Minnesota Automated Plate Scanner (MAPS) Catalog of the POSS I showing that the overdensity does not extend into the fourth quadrant. The overdensity is most probably not a ring. It could be due to interaction with the disk bar, evidence for a triaxial thick disk, or a merger remnant/stream. Pengaruh Perubahan Harga terhadap Perpindahan Konsumen Sabun Cuci dengan Transition Probability

PT.XYZ merupakan Perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang industri pembuatan sabun cuci batangan. Upaya peningkatan kwalitas sabun untuk memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) dilakukan di laboratorium dengan menerapkan model eksperimental faktorial dan Respon Surface Method (RSM). Formulasi tersebut digunakan sebagai landasan untuk membentuk harga pokok produksi. Perhitungan harga pokok produksi sabun cuci batangan dilakukan dengan metode Activity Based Costing (ABC). Perbandingan harga pokok produksi dari hasil uji laboratorium dan pabrikasi di PT.XYZ adalah Rp1058,- dan Rp1039,- per batang. Seharusnya dengan konsep pabrikasi, harga produk ini akan jauh lebih murah dibandingkan dengan laboratorium. Dengan demikian ada peluang pasar untuk memperbaikinya apabila marketing mix dilakukan. Periode pengamatan dilakukan dua kali. Sabun cream dan cair digunakan sebagai pembanding untuk mengamati sebuah perilaku diagonal konsumen. Perubahan animo konsumen terhadap pemilihan sabun cuci diuji dalam Matrix probability transition dengan melakukan sampling pendapat di Komplek Perumahan AAA, dimana terjadi transisi kejenuhan sekitar 5 bulan. Dari tingkatan matriks yang dilakukan, diperoleh persentasi pelanggang sabun cream (40%; 24%; 36%), sabun batangan (29,17%; 54,17%; 16,66%) dan sabun cair (52,39%; 4,76%; 42,85%). Kondisi Transisi probability akan mencapai steady state pada periode ke-14 dengan perolehan pasar untuk sabun cream 41,42%, sabun batangan 25,16% dan sabun cair 33,42%
