Measurement of J/Psi production in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=2.76 and 7 TeV with ALICE
We present results from the ALICE experiment on the inclusive J/Psi
production in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=2.76 and 7 TeV. The integrated and
differential cross sections are evaluated down to pT=0 in two rapidity ranges,
|y|<0.9 and 2.5<y<4, in the dielectron and dimuon decay channel respectively.
The measurement at sqrt(s)=2.76 TeV, the same energy as Pb-Pb collisions,
provides a crucial reference for the study of hot nuclear matter effects on
J/Psi production. The J/Psi yield in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV has also
been studied as a function of the charged particle multiplicity and first

Shear Viscosity of a Hot Pion Gas
The shear viscosity of an interacting pion gas is studied using the Kubo
formalism as a microscopic description of thermal systems close to global
equilibrium. We implement the skeleton expansion in order to approximate the
retarded correlator of the viscous part of the energy-momentum tensor. After
exploring this in theory we show how the skeleton expansion can be
consistently applied to pions in chiral perturbation theory. The shear
viscosity is determined by the spectral width, or equivalently, the mean
free path of pions in the heat bath. We derive a new analytical result for the
mean free path which is well-conditioned for numerical evaluation and discuss
the temperature and pion-mass dependence of the mean free path and the shear
viscosity. The ratio of the interacting pion gas exceeds the lower

Hadron spectra, flow and correlations in PbPb collisions at the LHC: interplay between soft and hard physics
The started LHC heavy ion program makes it possible to probe new frontiers of
the high temperature Quantum Chromodynamics. It is expected that the role of
hard and semi-hard particle production processes may be significant at
ultra-high energies even for bulk properties of the created matter. In this
paper, the LHC data on multiplicity, hadron spectra, elliptic flow and
femtoscopic correlations from PbPb collisions at center-of-mass energy 2.76 TeV
per nucleon pair are analyzed in the framework of the HYDJET++ model. The

Evolution of mechanism of parton energy loss with transverse momentum at RHIC and LHC in relativistic collision of heavy nuclei
We analyze the suppression of particle production at large transverse momenta
in ( most) central collisions of gold nuclei at
200 GeV and lead nuclei at 2.76 TeV. Full
next-to-leading order radiative corrections at , and
nuclear effects like shadowing and parton energy loss are included. The parton
energy loss is implemented in a simple multiple scattering model, where the
partons lose an energy per collision, where
is their mean free path. We take for a treatment
which is suggestive of the Bethe Heitler (BH) mechanism of incoherent
scatterings, for LPM mechanism, and
constant for a mechanism which suggests that the rate of energy loss ()
of the partons is proportional to total path length () of the parton in the
plasma, as the formation time of the radiated gluon becomes much larger than
.
We find that while the BH mechanism describes the nuclear modification factor
for 5 GeV/ (especially at RHIC energy), the LPM
and more so the constant mechanism provides a good description at
larger . This confirms the earlier expectation that the energy loss
mechanism for partons changes from BH to LPM for ,
where 1 fm and 1 GeV is the average
transverse kick-squared received by the parton per collision. The energy loss
per collision at the =2.76 TeV is found to be about

Jet quenching pattern at LHC in PYQUEN model
The first LHC data on high transverse momentum hadron and dijet spectra in
PbPb collisions at center-of-mass energy 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair are analyzed
in the frameworks of PYQUEN jet quenching model. The presented studies for the
nuclear modification factor of high-pT hadrons and the imbalance in dijet
transverse energy support the supposition that the intensive wide-angular
("out-of-cone") medium-induced partonic energy loss is seen in central PbPb

CBR model for the intelligent management of customer support centers
[EN] In this paper, a new CBR system for Technology Management Centers is presented. The system helps the staff of the centers to solve customer problems by finding solutions successfully applied to similar problems experienced in the past. This improves the satisfaction of customers and ensures a good reputation for the company who manages the center and thus, it may increase its profits. The CBR system is portable, flexible and multi-domain. It is implemented as a module of a help-desk application to make the CBR system as independent as
possible of any change in the help-desk. Each phase of the reasoning cycle is implemented as a series of configurable plugins, making the CBR module easy to update and maintain. The strong interaction at the collider and cosmic-rays frontiers
First data on inclusive particle production measured in proton-proton
collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are compared to predictions of
various hadron-interaction Monte Carlos (QGSJET, EPOS and SIBYLL) used commonly
in high-energy cosmic-ray physics. While reasonable overall agreement is found
for some of the models, none of them reproduces consistently the sqrt(s)
evolution of all the measured observables. We discuss the implications of the
new LHC data for the modeling of the non-perturbative and semihard parton
dynamics in hadron-hadron and cosmic-rays interactions at the highest energies

Particle Production at Large Transverse Momentum with ALICE
We present transverse momentum distributions of inclusive charged particles
and identified hadrons in and Pb--Pb collisions at \rs= 2.76 TeV,
measured by ALICE at the LHC. The Pb--Pb data are presented in intervals of
collision centrality and cover transverse momenta up to 50 GeV/. Nuclear
medium effects are studied in terms of the nuclear modification factor \raa.
The results indicate a strong suppression of high- particles in Pb--Pb
collisions, consistent with a large energy loss of hard-scattered partons in
the hot, dense and long-lived medium created at the LHC. We compare the
preliminary results for inclusive charged particles to previous results from
RHIC and calculations from energy loss models. Furthermore, we compare the
nuclear modification factors of inclusive charged particles to those of

Thermodynamics of SU(N) Yang-Mills theories in 2+1 dimensions II - The deconfined phase
We present a non-perturbative study of the equation of state in the
deconfined phase of Yang-Mills theories in D=2+1 dimensions. We introduce a
holographic model, based on the improved holographic QCD model, from which we
derive a non-trivial relation between the order of the deconfinement phase
transition and the behavior of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor as a
function of the temperature T. We compare the theoretical predictions of this
holographic model with a new set of high-precision numerical results from
lattice simulations of SU(N) theories with N=2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 colors. The
latter reveal that, similarly to the D=3+1 case, the bulk equilibrium
thermodynamic quantities (pressure, trace of the energy-momentum tensor, energy
density and entropy density) exhibit nearly perfect proportionality to the
number of gluons, and can be successfully compared with the holographic
predictions in a broad range of temperatures. Finally, we also show that, again
similarly to the D=3+1 case, the trace of the energy-momentum tensor appears to
be proportional to T^2 in a wide temperature range, starting from approximately
