    Fontes proteicas em suplementos para novilhos no período de transição seca-águas: características nutricionais

    Avaliaram-se fontes proteicas em suplementos para novilhos em pastagens de Brachiaria decumbens Stapf., durante a transição seca-águas, sobre as características nutricionais. Utilizaram-se quatro animais Holandês x Zebu, não castrados, com média de peso de 300kg, fistulados no esôfago, rúmen e abomaso, distribuídos em delineamento em quadrado latino 4x4. Avaliaram-se suplementos isoproteicos, balanceados para 38% de proteína bruta (PB), sendo um tratamento controle mistura mineral (MM); e três suplementos à base de grãos de milho moído + ureia (MU); grãos de milho moído + farelo de soja (MFS) e farelo de algodão 38% PB (FA), fornecidos na quantidade de 0,17% do peso vivo (PV). O consumo de fibra em detergente neutro pelos animais do tratamento MU, de 12,1g/kg PV, foi maior em 19,9% do que o observado para os dos tratamentos MM e MFS, 10,2g/kg PV, e semelhante ao observado para os do tratamento FA, 11,0g/kg PV. Foram observados valores mais altos de digestibilidade aparente total da matéria seca (MS) para os tratamentos MU e MFS em relação aos demais. Os valores de pH ruminal, produção de nitrogênio microbiano e eficiência de síntese microbiana não foram influenciados pelos tratamentos. A suplementação com MU proporciona maior consumo e digestibilidade aparente total da MS em relação ao tratamento MM

    This study evaluated intake and apparent digestibility of the nutrients in the diet of Morada Nova sheep that received diets containing increasing levels of juazeiro hay in substitution of Tifton 85 bermudagrass hay (0, 33, 67 and 100%). Sixteen non castrated male sheep, weighing an average of 26.75 kg, were used, placed in individual metabolic cages and distributed in a completely randomized block design with four treatments and four replications. Intakes of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, ether extract, neutral detergent fiber, total carbohydrates, fibrous carbohydrates and non-fibrous carbohydrates and total digestible nutrients were not influenced by the addition of juazeiro hay to the diets, with mean values of 1,042.78 and 595.59 g/day of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber intake, respectively. Linear reduction was observed for digestibility of the dry matter, organic matter, neutral detergent fiber and fibrous carbohydrates. Quadratic reduction was observed for the acid detergent fiber digestibility coefficient. The digestibility coefficients of the crude protein, ether extract, total carbohydrates and fibrous carbohydrates were not significant. The nitrogen balance was not influenced and was positive for all the treatments. The inclusion of juazeiro hay did not influence nutrient intake or nitrogen balance, but reduced the digestibility coefficient of some diet components

    Santa Inês sheep supplementation on urochloa grass pasture during the dry season: intake, nutrient digestibility and performance

    This study was conducted with the objective of evaluating the effect of concentrate supplementation, formulated with different ingredients (Mesquite pod meal, sorghum meal or wheat meal and mineral supplementation) on performance, intake and digestibility of nutrients in Santa Inês lambs grazing on urochloa grass during the dry season. Twenty-four uncastrated weaned Santa Inês sheep, with average body weight (BW) 20±2 kg with an average of 120 days of age were used in the assay. The experiment lasted 75 days. The animals grazing deferred Urochloa grass (Urochloa mosambicensis (Hack) Daudy) were distributed into four treatments consisting of mineral supplementation provided ad libitum and concentrated supplements containing mesquite pod meal, sorghum meal or wheat meal, supplied 10 g /kg BW on dry matter basis. The intakes of dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) were affected by the intake of concentrate supplement, regardless of the ingredients used in the supplements, compared with the mineral supplementation treatment, since the consumption of forage was reduced in 30% with mesquite pod meal supplement, and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) intake was not affected in relation to treatments. The digestibility of DM and CP were higher for treatments with supplements, and NDF digestibility did not differ between treatments. A significant difference was observed in the values of average daily gain for the treatments with concentrate supplementation compared with the one of mineral supplementation. The supplementation with concentrate in grazing enables improvement of performance, intake and digestibility of nutrients regardless of the ingredient used in the supplement
