PREDICTING WHISTLE-BLOWING INTENTION AMONG SUPERVISORS IN MALAYSIA

The function of whistle-blowing as an effective internal control mechanism has long been accepted around the globe. Several individual factors have been considered as predictive variables of whistle-blowing intention. However, findings are still inconclusive. Using the theory of planned behaviour as a framework, this study examines the relationship between the selected predictive variables (internal locus of control, work experience and ethics training) and whistle-blowing intention. Data were collected randomly from 311 supervisors within large manufacturing companies in Malaysia. Applying multiple regression analysis, results indicated that work experience and ethics training are significantly related to whistle-blowing intention. On the other hand, there is no significant relationship between internal locus of control and whistle-blowing intention. Work experience and whistle-blowing intention: The mediating role of ethical reasoning

Ethical reasoning involves the cognitive process of reasoning which in turn leads to moral decision making. The aim of the study is to provide a possible explanation for the inconclusive empirical results of previous whistle-blowing studies. Using theory of planned behaviour and cognitive moral development theory as frameworks, this study examines the mediating role of ethical reasoning in the relationship between work experience and whistle blowing intention. Data were collected from 311 supervisors from large manufacturing companies in Malaysia. Applying the Sobel test, the results indicate that ethical reasoning plays a mediating role in the relationship between work experience and whistle-blowing intention. Implications for theory and practice of the findings are discussed

Torsion pairs and rigid objects in tubes

We classify the torsion pairs in a tube category and show that they are in bijection with maximal rigid objects in the extension of the tube category containing the Pruefer and adic modules. We show that the annulus geometric model for the tube category can be extended to the larger category and interpret torsion pairs, maximal rigid objects and the bijection between them geometrically. Rigid and Schurian modules over cluster-tilted algebras of tame type

We give an example of a cluster-tilted algebra Λ with quiver Q, such that the associated cluster algebra A(Q) has a denominator vector which is not the dimension vector of any indecomposable Λ-module. This answers a question posed by T. Nakanishi. The relevant example is a cluster-tilted algebra associated with a tame hereditary algebra. We show that for such a cluster-tilted algebra Λ, we can write any denominator vector as a sum of the dimension vectors of at most three indecomposable rigid Λ-modules. In order to do this it is necessary, and of independent interest, to first classify the indecomposable rigid Λ-modules in this case
