Human Factors Influencing Contractors' Risk Attitudes: A Case Study of the Malaysian Construction Industry

Malaysia is one of the most rapidly developing countries among developing nations. The construction industry has played a major role in Malaysia’s rapid economic growth. Among the major sectors in Malaysia, the importance of the construction industry is unique regardless of the level of the country’s development. However, the attitude of the construction industry in Malaysia towards managing contractors’ risk attitudes is very weak. The introduction of the Occupational Safety and Health Act in 1994 by the Malaysian government made all industries in Malaysia to identify risks, conduct risk assessment and control risk. In addition, the Malaysian construction industry simultaneously implemented an integrated system to ensure consistency and better performance of projects. To identify the factors influencing contractors' risk attitudes, relevant literature was reviewed, and a questionnaire survey was conducted. This study focused on the G7 contractors operating in the Malaysian construction industry. One hundred and nineteen copies of a structured questionnaire were analysed with a response rate of 85%. Structural equation modelling was utilized to test the hypotheses developed for the study. Results showed that government policies played a moderating role in enhancing the relationship between human-related factors affecting contractors’ risk attitudes in the construction industry

This study is focused on enzymolgy regarding enzyme purification technique and application of thermotolerant specie Kluyveromyces marxianus yeast in bio reactions for the research and optimization of fermentation temperature for intracellular and extracellular enzyme production. Fermentation studies were carried out in shake flask level to optimize intracellular and extracellular enzyme production by changing  process conditions like temperature range from (30 to 550C), the pH (5.5), speed (350).  The substrate type sugar cane molasses 15% added as a carbon and ammonium sulphate (0.75%) as nitrogen source. The optimized fermentation temperature was found 45oC, at pH 5.5, and rpm was 350. The production of  intracellular invertase was (890”moles/min/g) while the extracellular (120”moles/min/g) Kluyveromyces marxianus was greater efficiency as compared to other specie because of its metabolic activity, which express more heat stability and Invertase activty upto 650C. An Iterative Detection Aided Unequal Error Protection Wavelet Video Scheme Using Irregular Convolutional Codes

    No full text
A wavelet-based videophone scheme proposed, where the video bits are Unequal Error Protection (UEP) using Irregular Convolutional Codes (IRCCs). The proposed system uses Adaptive Arithmetic Coding (AAC) for encoding the motion vectors and individual wavelet subband coefficients. The turbo equalized IRCC-aided videophone scheme is capable of attaining a near unimpaired video quality for channel Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNRs) in excess of about 4.5dB over a five-path dispersive AWGN channel

Global dynamics of some systems of rational difference equations

AbstractIn this paper, we study the qualitative behavior of some systems of second-order rational difference equations. More precisely, we study the equilibrium points, local asymptotic stability of equilibrium point, unstability of equilibrium points, global character of equilibrium point, periodicity behavior of positive solutions and rate of convergence of positive solutions of these systems. Some numerical examples are given to verify our theoretical results

In the analyzed students’ educational data several parameters such as True Postive Rate, False Positive Rate and Classification Error were used as a yard stick in measuring the performance of both Kstar and BayeNet algorithms in mining the educational data. The performance investigation of the applied classifiers revealed hidden knowledge in the data set which was helpful in the re-calibration of the model to yield a higher precision of each of the classifier with minimal classification error.
