    The purpose of this study was to describe the shape, function and strategies used in the book tells of humor Cikeas Octopus Dismantling works Wong Gendeng Jaim. The data of this study is ilokusi speech acts. Sources of data in this study is the book of humor Cikeas Octopus Dismantling works Wong Gendeng Jaim. Data were collected by using a technique that helped with my recording format. The findings of the study are (1) a form of speech act ilokusi found as many as 71 utterances, which consist of expressive speech acts and commissive directive representative, (2) the function of speech acts speech ilokusi found as many as 68, which consists of competitive functionality, pleasure cooperating and conflicting functions and (3) by 67 utterances strategy, which consists of BTTB, BTDBKP, BTDBKN and BSS

    Total hip arthroplasty in the young leads to difficult choices in implant selection. Until recently bone conserving options were not available for younger patients with deficient femoral head bone stock. The novel Birmingham Mid-Head Resection (BMHR) device offers the option of bone conserving arthroplasty in spite of deficient femoral head bone stock. Femoral neck fracture is a known complication of standard resurfacing arthroplasty and is the most common reason for revision. It is unknown whether this remains to be the case for the BMHR neck preserving implants. We report a case of a 57-year-old male, who sustained a periprosthetic fracture following surgery with a BMHR arthroplasty. This paper illustrates the first reported case of a BMHR periprosthetic fracture. The fracture pattern is spiral in nature and reaches to the subtrochanteric area. This fracture pattern is different from published cadaveric studies, and clinicians using this implant should be aware of this as revision is likely to require a distally fitting, rather than a metaphyseal fitting stem. We have illustrated the surgical technique to manage this rare complication

    Service embedding in IoT networks

    The Internet of Things (IoT) is the cornerstone of smart applications such as smart buildings, smart factories, home automation, and healthcare automation. These smart applications express their demands in terms of high-level requests. Application requests in service-oriented IoT architectures are translated into a business process (BP) workflow. In this paper, we model such a BP as a virtual network containing a set of virtual nodes and links connected in a specific topology. These virtual nodes represent the requested processing and locations where sensing and/or actuation are needed. The virtual links capture the requested communication requirements between nodes. We introduce a framework, optimized using mixed integer linear programming (MILP), that embeds the BPs from the virtual layer into a lower-level implementation at the IoT physical layer. We formulate the problem of finding the optimal set of IoT nodes and links to embed BPs into the IoT layer considering three objective functions: i) minimizing network and processing power consumption only, ii) minimizing mean traffic latency only, iii) minimizing a weighted combination of power consumption and traffic latency to study the trade-off between minimizing the power consumption and minimizing the traffic latency. We have established, as reference, a scenario where service embedding is performed to meet all the demands with no consideration to power consumption or latency. Compared to this reference scenario, our results indicate that the power savings achieved by our energy efficient embedding scenario is 42% compared with the energy-latency unaware service embedding (ELUSE) reference scenario, while our low latency embedding reduced the traffic latency by an average of 47% compared to the ELUSE scenario. Our combined energy efficient low latency service embedding approach achieved high optimality by jointly realizing 91% of the power and latency reductions obtained under the single objective of minimizing power consumption or latency

    Alfa grass pulping was successfully performed in hydro-organic acid medium under mild conditions (107°C, atmospheric pressure, cooking time: 3 h). Use of an acetic acid/formic acid/water mixture as pulping liquor was perfectly suitable for selective isolation of pulp, lignin, and hemicelluloses. The unbleached pulp obtained in good yield was first delignified by peroxyacids in organic acid medium and then bleached with hydrogen peroxide in a basic medium to give pulp offering good physico-chemical and mechanical characteristics

    Surfactant-Assisted in situ Chemical Etching for the General Synthesis of ZnO Nanotubes Array

    In this paper, a general low-cost and substrate-independent chemical etching strategy is demonstrated for the synthesis of ZnO nanotubes array. During the chemical etching, the nanotubes array inherits many features from the preformed nanorods array, such as the diameter, size distribution, and alignment. The preferential etching along c axis and the surfactant protection to the lateral surfaces are considered responsible for the formation of ZnO nanotubes. This surfactant-assisted chemical etching strategy is highly expected to advance the research in the ZnO nanotube-based technology

    Electronic structures of free-standing nanowires made from indirect bandgap semiconductor gallium phosphide

    We present a theoretical study of the electronic structures of freestanding nanowires made from gallium phosphide (GaP)--a III-V semiconductor with an indirect bulk bandgap. We consider [001]-oriented GaP nanowires with square and rectangular cross sections, and [111]-oriented GaP nanowires with hexagonal cross sections. Based on tight binding models, both the band structures and wave functions of the nanowires are calculated. For the [001]-oriented GaP nanowires, the bands show anti-crossing structures, while the bands of the [111]-oriented nanowires display crossing structures. Two minima are observed in the conduction bands, while the maximum of the valence bands is always at the Γ\Gamma-point. Using double group theory, we analyze the symmetry properties of the lowest conduction band states and highest valence band states of GaP nanowires with different sizes and directions. The band state wave functions of the lowest conduction bands and the highest valence bands of the nanowires are evaluated by spatial probability distributions. For practical use, we fit the confinement energies of the electrons and holes in the nanowires to obtain an empirical formula.Comment: 19 pages, 10 figure

    The effects of electrical hippocampal kindling of seizures on amino acids and kynurenic acid concentrations in brain structures

    Our study demonstrated that the development of seizures during the electrically induced kindling of seizures is associated with significant changes in the concentration of kynurenic acid (KYNA) and its precursor, tryptophan (TRP). The primary finding of our study was an increase in KYNA levels and the KYNA/TRP ratio (a theoretical index of activity of the kynurenine pathway) in the amygdala and hippocampus of kindled animals. We also found decreases in the concentration of tryptophan in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. Changes in the concentration of KYNA and TRP in the amygdala were accompanied by a significant decrease in Îł-Aminobutryic Acid (GABA) levels and an increase in the glutamate/GABA ratio. Moreover, we found a significant negative correlation between the local concentrations of KYNA and glutamate in the amygdala of kindled rats. However, there were no changes in the local concentrations of the following amino acids: glutamate, aspartate, glutamine, glycine, taurine and alanine. In conclusion, these new results suggest a modulatory influence of KYNA on the process of epileptogenesis, characterized by a negative relationship between the KYNA and glutamate systems in the amygdala
