    A study of Village Budget (APBDes) Utilization for Village Infrastructure Development at Wates

    The application of village budget (APBDes) on rural infrastructure development in Wates, including the planning based on social need has two models: community discussion and BPD (village representative) which is directly involved in APBDes planning. The realization of APBDes in rural infrastructure development has three models: first, infrastructures developed by rural district, second, infrastructures developed in RT (neighborhood association-the lowest administrative unit) area under village chief coordination and third, tertiary irrigation infrastructure by P3A (association of farmers using water). Since 2007-2008, the budget allocation is effectively used more or less 16% from the DAD (Village Allocation Budget) for infrastructure development. The DAD application shows that the improvement is lower compared to the higher DAD. Before and after the DAD enactment, infrastructure development has shown the same raising. Therefore, the raising of DAD in APBDes does not directly influence the raising of rural infrastructure development because of its little proportion and for it serves as a stimulus to the community self-supporting. The development of rural infrastructure in Wates is influenced by rural improvement program which is funded by central government, province government and district government, APBDes and community self-supporting fund. APBDes gives 5% support from the total needed for rural infrastructure development in Wates

    A simplified technique for the treatment of simple pleural effusions

    This technique for the drainage of simple pleural effusions is simple, safe and effective. It requires little more skill than the ability to perform a thoracentesis or central venous line placement. It appears ideal for both the bedridden patient who cannot sit for repetitive thoracocentesis and for the ambulatory patient who need not be tied down with a chest tube and underwater seal system. We stress that the system is functional only for simple transudates and will provide unsatisfactory drainage of thick or bloody effusions

    Left hepatic trisegmentectomy was successfully performed upon four patients in whom the true left lobe of the liver and all, or part, of the anterior segment of the right lobe of the liver were removed in continuity. Three of the patients had carcinoma of the liver, and the fourth patient had a hemangioma and arteriovenous malformation. This procedure, which has not been described before, should allow subtotal hepatic resection to be performed upon some patients who have lesions that have been classified as inoperable, in the past

    Saliency Benchmarking Made Easy: Separating Models, Maps and Metrics

    Dozens of new models on fixation prediction are published every year and compared on open benchmarks such as MIT300 and LSUN. However, progress in the field can be difficult to judge because models are compared using a variety of inconsistent metrics. Here we show that no single saliency map can perform well under all metrics. Instead, we propose a principled approach to solve the benchmarking problem by separating the notions of saliency models, maps and metrics. Inspired by Bayesian decision theory, we define a saliency model to be a probabilistic model of fixation density prediction and a saliency map to be a metric-specific prediction derived from the model density which maximizes the expected performance on that metric given the model density. We derive these optimal saliency maps for the most commonly used saliency metrics (AUC, sAUC, NSS, CC, SIM, KL-Div) and show that they can be computed analytically or approximated with high precision. We show that this leads to consistent rankings in all metrics and avoids the penalties of using one saliency map for all metrics. Our method allows researchers to have their model compete on many different metrics with state-of-the-art in those metrics: "good" models will perform well in all metrics.Comment: published at ECCV 201

    Physical modelling of multivalent interactions in the nuclear pore complex

    In the nuclear pore complex (NPC), intrinsically disordered proteins (FG Nups) along with their interactions with more globular proteins called nuclear transport receptors (NTRs) are vital to the selectivity of transport into and out of the cell nucleus. While such interactions can be modelled at different levels of coarse graining, in-vitro experimental data have been quantitatively described by minimal models that describe FG Nups as cohesive homogeneous polymers and NTRs as uniformly cohesive spheres, where the heterogeneous effects have been smeared out. By definition, these minimal models do not account for the explicit heterogeneities in FG Nup sequences, essentially a string of cohesive and non-cohesive polymer units, and at the NTR surface. Here, we develop computational and analytical models that do take into account such heterogeneity in a minimal fashion, and compare them to experimental data on single-molecule interactions between FG Nups and NTRs. Overall, we find that the heterogeneous nature of FG Nups and NTRs does play a role in determining equilibrium binding properties, but is of much greater significance when it comes to unbinding and binding kinetics. Using our models, we predict how binding equilibria and kinetics depend on the distribution of cohesive blocks in the FG Nup sequences and of the binding pockets at the NTR surface, with multivalency playing a key role. Finally, we observe that single-molecule binding kinetics has a rather minor influence on the diffusion of NTRs in polymer melts consisting of FG-Nup-like sequences

    Production, purification and partial characterization of lipase from Trichoderma Viride

    A new strain of lipolytic Trichoderma viride was isolated from the soil on a selective mediumthat contained olive oil as the only source of carbon and energy. The isolated strain was cultivated for lipase production in shake flasks at 30±1oC and the fermentation pattern was studied. The maximum extracellular lipase activity of 7.3 U/mL and the maximum intracellularactivity of 320 U/g mycelium were noted after 48 h. Although maximum fungal biomass was present at 13.6 g/L at 60 h but highest specific growth rate was observed between 6 and 18 h.The extracellular lipase present in the broth was purified 134-folds with an overall yield of 46% through purification procedure of ammonium sulphate precipitation, ion exchange and gelpermeation chromatography. The Km value of the purified enzyme for triolein hydrolysis was found to be 1.229 m.mole/L
