The astrometric Gaia-FUN-SSO observation campaign of 99 942 Apophis

Astrometric observations performed by the Gaia Follow-Up Network for Solar System Objects (Gaia-FUN-SSO) play a key role in ensuring that moving objects first detected by ESA's Gaia mission remain recoverable after their discovery. An observation campaign on the potentially hazardous asteroid (99 942) Apophis was conducted during the asteroid's latest period of visibility, from 12/21/2012 to 5/2/2013, to test the coordination and evaluate the overall performance of the Gaia-FUN-SSO . The 2732 high quality astrometric observations acquired during the Gaia-FUN-SSO campaign were reduced with the Platform for Reduction of Astronomical Images Automatically (PRAIA), using the USNO CCD Astrograph Catalogue 4 (UCAC4) as a reference. The astrometric reduction process and the precision of the newly obtained measurements are discussed. We compare the residuals of astrometric observations that we obtained using this reduction process to data sets that were individually reduced by observers and accepted by the Minor Planet Center. We obtained 2103 previously unpublished astrometric positions and provide these to the scientific community. Using these data we show that our reduction of this astrometric campaign with a reliable stellar catalog substantially improves the quality of the astrometric results. We present evidence that the new data will help to reduce the orbit uncertainty of Apophis during its close approach in 2029. We show that uncertainties due to geolocations of observing stations, as well as rounding of astrometric data can introduce an unnecessary degradation in the quality of the resulting astrometric positions. Primary or secondary? A dichotomy of the strontium isotope anomalies in the Ediacaran carbonates of Saudi Arabia

Secular variation of 87Sr/86Sr in carbonate strata has been widely used in regional and global chemostratigraphic correlations. Typically, diagenesis results in higher 87Sr/86Sr signals relative to their primary composition due to the alteration by Rb-rich fluids and radiogenic decay of 87Rb to 87Sr. Surprisingly, 87Sr/86Sr values in the Ediacaran limestones from Saudi Arabia (from 0.7029 to 0.7059) are significantly lower than typical Ediacaran seawater values (mostly from 0.7080 to 0.7090) based on a global compilation. Understanding the origin of these anomalies is important insofar as early macrofossils are preserved in these strata. Two hypotheses have been independently evaluated in this study. The first hypothesis shows a low temperature scenario with isolated oceans or lakes in proximity to a mafic source. The second hypothesis is characterized by a high temperature scenario with profound overprints by juvenile hydrothermal fluids. Integrated Sr and Nd isotope data reveal that the 87Sr/86Sr anomalies are closely coupled with positive εNd(t = 560 Ma) values (up to +4.1). Clear covariations between 87Sr/86Sr, εNd, TOC, δ13Ccarb, δ13Corg, and δ18Ocarb were found. Based on multiple lines of petrographic, field, and geochemical evidence, the second hypothesis (i.e., hydrothermal alteration by juvenile fluids) is preferred in this study. Thermogenic breakdown of organic matter in host sediments may have caused the increasingly low TOC abundance and high δ13Corg signals of the residual organic matter. We argue that the concept that the Ediacaran biotic radiation took place in an isolated lake environment should be treated with caution. These remarkably low 87Sr/86Sr signals have neither temporal nor biogeochemical significance. Sr isotope chemostratigraphy in this particular region may not be a reliable tool for stratigraphic correlations

ИНВАГИНАЦИЯ УШКА ЛЕВОГО ПРЕДСЕРДИЯ У РЕБЕНКА РАННЕГО ВОЗРАСТА ПОСЛЕ КОРРЕКЦИИ ДЕФЕКТА МЕЖЖЕЛУДОЧКОВОЙ ПЕРЕГОРОДКИ

The inversion of the left atrium appendage in infants is a very rare anomaly, which may occurs either after cardiac surgery. We introduce a case report of infant with left atrium appendage invagination after ventricular septal defect closure. Инвагинация ушка левого предсердия у детей раннего возраста является крайне редкой аномалией, которая возникает как после кардиохирургических операций, так и спонтанно при нарушениях ритма сердца. Мы представляем клинический случай у ребенка раннего возраста с инвагинацией ушка левого предсердия после коррекции дефекта межжелудочковой перегородки.

КЛИНИЧЕСКИЕ ОСОБЕННОСТИ РАКА МОЛОЧНОЙ ЖЕЛЕЗЫ С ЭКСПРЕССИЕЙ РЕЦЕПТОРОВ СТЕРОИДНЫХ ПОЛОВЫХ ГОРМОНОВ И АМПЛИФИКАЦИЕЙ HER2

Since the  middle of the  previous  century  the  heterogeneity of breast cancer  became absolutely evident. This assumption was historically based on differences in clinical behavior and sensitivity to therapy. Treatment approach nowadays is based  primarily on clinical and morphological prognostic and predictive markers. Among morphologically derived markers the most  important are estrogen and progesterone receptors and HER2. Interestingly that tumors with expression of estrogen receptors and/or progesterone receptors that  showed also hyperexpression or amplification of HER2 have very poor outcome and low sensitivity to  all therapeutic  approaches.  Therefore we  want   to  summarize the  existing  clinical information that  is relevant to this topic.С середины прошлого  века рак молочной железы  принято считать высоко гетерогенной группой опухолей.  Гетерогенность основана на различном клиническом течении заболевания, а также на принципиально различной чувствительности к существующим терапевтическим подходам. В основе  клинических решений о выборе тактики лечения  на настоящий момент лежит сочетание  клинических и патоморфологических прогностических и предиктивных маркеров. Наибольшую роль  среди  морфологических предиктивных маркеров играют рецепторы эстрогенов, прогестерона и  эпидермального фактора роста HER2-neu. При этом клиническая группа, характеризующаяся проявлением всех  трех  маркеров,  характеризуется относительно неблагоприятным прогнозом и невысокой чувствительностью к существующим  лекарственным методам.  Авторам  представляется интересным суммировать имеющиеся данные  о клинических особенностях данного типа опухолей  молочной железы

The two phases of the Cambrian Explosion

Abstract The dynamics of how metazoan phyla appeared and evolved – known as the Cambrian Explosion – remains elusive. We present a quantitative analysis of the temporal distribution (based on occurrence data of fossil species sampled in each time interval) of lophotrochozoan skeletal species (n = 430) from the terminal Ediacaran to Cambrian Stage 5 (~545 – ~505 Million years ago (Ma)) of the Siberian Platform, Russia. We use morphological traits to distinguish between stem and crown groups. Possible skeletal stem group lophophorates, brachiopods, and molluscs (n = 354) appear in the terminal Ediacaran (~542 Ma) and diversify during the early Cambrian Terreneuvian and again in Stage 2, but were devastated during the early Cambrian Stage 4 Sinsk extinction event (~513 Ma) never to recover previous diversity. Inferred crown group brachiopod and mollusc species (n = 76) do not appear until the Fortunian, ~537 Ma, radiate in the early Cambrian Stage 3 (~522 Ma), and with minimal loss of diversity at the Sinsk Event, continued to diversify into the Ordovician. The Sinsk Event also removed other probable stem groups, such as archaeocyath sponges. Notably, this diversification starts before, and extends across the Ediacaran/Cambrian boundary and the Basal Cambrian Carbon Isotope Excursion (BACE) interval (~541 to ~540 Ma), ascribed to a possible global perturbation of the carbon cycle. We therefore propose two phases of the Cambrian Explosion separated by the Sinsk extinction event, the first dominated by stem groups of phyla from the late Ediacaran, ~542 Ma, to early Cambrian stage 4, ~513 Ma, and the second marked by radiating bilaterian crown group species of phyla from ~513 Ma and extending to the Ordovician Radiation
