Constraints On The Topology Of The Universe From The WMAP First-Year Sky Maps

We compute the covariance expected between the spherical harmonic coefficients aâ„“ma_{\ell m} of the cosmic microwave temperature anisotropy if the universe had a compact topology. For fundamental cell size smaller than the distance to the decoupling surface, off-diagonal components carry more information than the diagonal components (the power spectrum). We use a maximum likelihood analysis to compare the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe first-year data to models with a cubic topology. The data are compatible with finite flat topologies with fundamental domain L>1.2L > 1.2 times the distance to the decoupling surface at 95% confidence. The WMAP data show reduced power at the quadrupole and octopole, but do not show the correlations expected for a compact topology and are indistinguishable from infinite models.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure

Thermal deformation of concentrators in an axisymmetric temperature field

Axisymmetric thermal deformations of paraboloid mirrors, due to heating, are examined for a mirror with a optical axis oriented toward the Sun. A governing differential equation is derived using Mushtari-Donnel-Vlasov simplifications, and a solution is presented which makes it possible to determine the principal deformation characteristics

Technical and Economic Indicators of Strategic Management Accounting in the Development Companies Based on the Life Cycle of the Produce

This article discusses the issues of technical and economic indicators of strategic management of a development company and the application of modern management accounting methods. We have analyzed various scientific studies of scientists in the field of product life cycle management and it was found that now this area is very popular and there is a demand for it from modern companies. In that reason for effective control and project planning, it has been proposed to use the Life Cycle Costing method, which can be successfully applied to development. This system was supplemented by the method of Target Costing, which is used for the target cost management. Using this method, the target price was determined, which was used to determine the acceptable margin of the development project at the planning stage. An interaction scheme of responsibility centers was proposed in order to achieve the implementation and effective operation of these systems, which allowed to reduce costs and accelerate sales. Using this proposal, it was possible to reduce design errors that led to significant additional costs

    Anharmonicity of BaTiO_3 single crystals

By analyzing the dielectric non-linearity with the Landau thermodynamic expansion, we find a simple and direct way to assess the importance of the eighth order term. Following this approach, it is demonstrated that the eighth order term is essential for the adequate description of the para/ferroelectric phase transition of BaTiO_3. The temperature dependence of the quartic coefficient \beta is accordingly reconsidered and is strongly evidenced by the change of its sign above 165 C. All these findings attest to the strong polarization anharmonicity of this material, which is unexpected for classical displacive ferroelectrics.Comment: 4 figures, to be published in Phys. Rev.

The catalogue of the discrete sources in the declination range from -13 deg to -2 deg

The results of the discrete source measurements with declinations -13 deg or = delta or = -2 deg and right ascensions 0 sub h + 24 sub h are given and were obtained as part of the systematic decametric survey of the celestial sphere with the rotatiotelecope UTR-2. Three hundred sixteen sources were found in the given declination range, four of which were observed for the first time. The source coordinates measured in the survey were compared with those from the 4th Cambridge survey at 178 MHz and the Parkes survey at 408 MHz
