Spin dependent recombination based magnetic resonance spectroscopy of bismuth donor spins in silicon at low magnetic fields
Low-field (6-110 mT) magnetic resonance of bismuth (Bi) donors in silicon has
been observed by monitoring the change in photoconductivity induced by spin
dependent recombination. The spectra at various resonance frequencies show
signal intensity distributions drastically different from that observed in
conventional electron paramagnetic resonance, attributed to different
recombination rates for the forty possible combinations of spin states of a
pair of a Bi donor and a paramagnetic recombination center. An excellent
tunability of Bi excitation energy for the future coupling with superconducting
flux qubits at low fields has been demonstrated.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Formaldehyde measurements by Proton transfer reaction – Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS): correction for humidity effects
Formaldehyde measurements can provide useful information about photochemical activity in ambient air, given that HCHO is formed via numerous oxidation processes. Proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) is an online technique that allows measurement of VOCs at the sub-ppbv level with good time resolution. PTR-MS quantification of HCHO is hampered by the humidity dependence of the instrument sensitivity, with higher humidity leading to loss of PTR-MS signal. In this study we present an analytical, first principles approach to correct the PTR-MS HCHO signal according to the concentration of water vapor in sampled air. The results of the correction are validated by comparison of the PTR-MS results to those from a Hantzsch fluorescence monitor which does not have the same humidity dependence. Results are presented for an intercomparison made during a field campaign in rural Ontario at Environment Canada's Centre for Atmospheric Research Experiments
Effect of humidity on nitric acid uptake to mineral dust aerosol particles
International audienceThis study presents the first laboratory observation of HNO3 uptake by airborne mineral dust particles. The model aerosols were generated by dry dispersion of Arizona Test Dust (ATD), SiO2, and by nebulizing a saturated solution of calcium carbonate. The uptake of 13N-labeled gaseous nitric acid was observed in a flow reactor on the 0.2?2 s reaction time scale at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The amount of nitric acid appearing in the aerosol phase at the end of the flow tube was found to be a linear function of the aerosol surface area. SiO2 particles did not show any significant uptake, while the CaCO3 aerosol was found to be more reactive than ATD. Due to the smaller uncertainty associated with the reactive surface area in the case of suspended particles as compared to bulk powder samples, we believe that we provide an improved estimate of the rate of uptake of HNO3 to mineral dust. The fact that the rate of uptake was smaller at a concentration of 1012 than at 1011 was indicative of a complex uptake mechanism. The uptake coefficient averaged over the first 2 s of reaction time at a concentration of 1012 molecules cm-3 was found to increase with increasing relative humidity, from 0.022±0.007 at 12% RH to 0.113±0.017 at 73% RH , which was attributed to an increasing degree of solvation of the more basic minerals. The extended processing of the dust by higher concentrations of HNO3 at 85% RH led to a water soluble coating on the particles and enhanced their hygroscopicity
Electrical Detection and Magnetic-Field Control of Spin States in Phosphorus-Doped Silicon
Electron paramagnetic resonance of ensembles of phosphorus donors in silicon
has been detected electrically with externally applied magnetic fields lower
than 200 G. Because the spin Hamiltonian was dominated by the contact hyperfine
term rather than by the Zeeman terms at such low magnetic fields, superposition
states and
were formed
between phosphorus electron and nuclear spins, and electron paramagnetic
resonance transitions between these superposition states and or states are observed clearly. A
continuous change of and with the magnetic field was
observed with a behavior fully consistent with theory of phosphorus donors in
silicon.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Constitutionalization of assistance in foreign countries
Legal profession in Russia has taken a category of assistance from constitutional level on a large scale and in different aspects. Significant improvement in characteristics of legal phenomena is a comparative jurisprudence method, and so, there is no exception to the assistance that has been declared in the species diversity of constitutional norms. In this study, commonality of historical development stage was a basis for separation of focus group from Commonwealth countries of Independent States (CIS) constitution
Nonlinear interfacial waves in a constant-vorticity planar flow over variable depth
Exact Lagrangian in compact form is derived for planar internal waves in a
two-fluid system with a relatively small density jump (the Boussinesq limit
taking place in real oceanic conditions), in the presence of a background shear
current of constant vorticity, and over arbitrary bottom profile. Long-wave
asymptotic approximations of higher orders are derived from the exact
Hamiltonian functional in a remarkably simple way, for two different
parametrizations of the interface shape.Comment: revtex, 4.5 pages, minor corrections, summary added, accepted to JETP
