    The resonance phenomenon in the reaction–diffusion systems

    A new mechanism of pattern formation different from the Turing and oscillatory instabilities in the reaction–diffusion systems was found. It is closely connected with the resonance phenomenon that appears in the models when Jacobi's matrix of the kinetic part is equivalent to Jordan cell and diffusion coefficients are cited. Some results of numerical calculations of the blood coagulation model are discussed. The pattern formation regimes that can be treated as the results from the resonance phenomenon were observed

    Secondary Electron Spectral Changes of Irradiated Gold Nanoparticle Caused By PEGylation

    Gold nanoparticles attract attention for the use in radiation therapy of tumors due to the ability to enhance the efficacy of ionizing radiation. The magnitude of the radiosensitizing effect depends on the parameters of the nanoparticle, in particular on the modification of the surface. In the present work, the spectrum of secondary particles generated in a gold nanoparticle virtually irradiated with 60Со gamma rays as a result of surface modification by a polyethylene glycol shell was studied. The Mont eCarlo calculations revealed that modification of the nanoparticle’s surface changes the spectrum of secondary particles. The most robust was the loss in low-energy electrons (51%) whereas the yield of Compton electrons increased by 1.27 times. At the same time, no statistically significant changes were observed in the spectrum of secondary photons and photoelectrons. Simulation of the formation and distribution of secondary electron radiation makes it possible to evaluate the parameters important for the rational design of antitumor nanoradiosensitizers based on chemical elements with a high atomic number.     Searching for Very-High-Energy Gamma-Ray Bursts from Evaporating Primordial Black Holes

    Temporal and energy characteristics of the very-high-energy gamma-ray bursts from evaporating primordial black holes have been calculated by assuming that the photospheric and chromospheric effects are negligible. The technique of searching for such bursts on shower arrays is described. We show that the burst time profile and the array dead time should be taken into account to interpret experimental data. Based on data from the Andyrchy array of the Baksan Neutrino Observatory (Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences), we have obtained an upper limit on the number density of evaporating primordial black holes in a local region of space with a scale size of ~10^{-3} pc.     Impact of social and economical factors on indicators describing epidemiological situation on tuberculosis in Urals

    In 11 territories of supervision area of Ural region the impact on indicators describing epidemiological situation on tuberculosis of 16 social and economical factors, characterizing conditions of labor and employment, living conditions were investigated. For assessment of impact social and economical factors on ТВ prevalence Pearson method was used. The influence of social and economical on main epidemiological indicators in population was detected, that confirmed that tuberculosis is social conditioned inflectional disease.На показатели, характеризующие эпидемиологическую ситуацию по туберкулезу в 2003-2009 годы в 11 территориях Урала оценивалось влияние 16 социально-экономических факторов, определяющих состояние труда и занятости населения, уровень жизни населения путем использования метода квадратов Пирсона. Установлено влияние отдельных социально-экономических факторов на заболеваемость, распространенность и смертность от туберкулеза, что подтверждает социальную обусловленность данного инфекционного заболевания

    Effectiveness of medical activities of anti-tb hospital and its role in formation of epidemiological situation on tuberculosis in Urals

    In 11 territories of supervision area of Ural region (Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk Khanty-Mansijsk and Yamalo-Nenetsky region, Privolzhsky federal region (Republik of Bashkotostan, Republic of Udmurtija, Permsky kraj, Kirov, Orenburg regions) the results of the medical activities of anti-ТВ hospitals, its effectiveness and its impact on epidemiological situation in 2003-2008 on ТВ were investigated. Differentiation by indicators included in to integral coefficient of effectiveness of the hospitals of had been proved by results of the study for head anti-tuberculosis facilities in Urals.The relationships between indicators of medical effectiveness of head anti-ТВ hospital and prevalence of cavity tuberculosis, ТВ mortality and fraction of patient with ТВ detected after death was detected.The results given by the study used by regional scientific-research institute, heads of anti-tuberculosis facilities for developing measures for optimization of the activities of head anti-tuberculosis hospitals.Авторами проанализирована эффективность работы стационарного звена головных учреждений противотуберкулезной службы в 11 территориях курации ФГУ «Уральский научно-исследовательский институт фтизиопульмонологии» Минздравсоцразвития России (Курганская, Кировская, Оренбургская, Свердловская, Тюменская и Челябинская области, Пермский край, Республика Башкортостан и Удмуртская Республика, Ханты-Мансийский-Югра и Ямало-Ненецкий автономные округа) за 2003-2008 годы, а также изучено влияние результативности медицинского аспекта деятельности стационаров на эпидемиологические показатели по туберкулезу.Результаты исследования свидетельствуют о дифференциации стационарных подразделений головных противотуберкулезных учреждений Урала по показателям, входящим в состав интегрального коэффициента результативности медицинского аспекта работы стационаров. Установлены взаимосвязи между показателем медицинской эффективности деятельности стационарных подразделений головных противотуберкулезных учреждений и таковыми распространенности фиброзно-кавернозного туберкулеза, смертности населения от туберкулезной инфекции и доли больных туберкулезом, у которых диагноз установлен посмертно. Полученные результаты исследования используются региональным научно-исследовательским институтом, руководителями противотуберкулезных учреждений при разработке мероприятий, направленных на оптимизацию деятельности стационарных подразделений головных противотуберкулезных учреждений Урала

    Geant4 is a toolkit for simulating the passage of particles through matter. It includes a complete range of functionality including tracking, geometry, physics models and hits. The physics processes offered cover a comprehensive range, including electromagnetic, hadronic and optical processes, a large set of long-lived particles, materials and elements, over a wide energy range starting, in some cases, from 250 eV and extending in others to the TeV energy range. It has been designed and constructed to expose the physics models utilised, to handle complex geometries, and to enable its easy adaptation for optimal use in different sets of applications. The toolkit is the result of a worldwide collaboration of physicists and software engineers. It has been created exploiting software engineering and object-oriented technology and implemented in the C++ programming language. It has been used in applications in particle physics, nuclear physics, accelerator design, space engineering and medical physics
