The improved nuclear parton distributions
In this paper we propose an improvement of the EKS nuclear parton
distributions for the small x region of high energy processes, where the
perturbative high parton density effects cannot be disregarded. We analyze the
behavior of the ratios and and verify that at small x
they are strongly modified when compared to the EKS predictions. The
implications of our results for the heavy ion collisions in RHIC and LHC are
discussed.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure
Scaling violation and shadowing corrections at HERA
We study the value of shadowing corrections (SC) in HERA kinematic region in
Glauber - Mueller approach. Since the Glauber - Mueller approach was proven in
perturbative QCD in the double logarithmic approximation (DLA), we develop the
DLA approach for deep inelastic structure function which takes into account the
SC. Our estimates show small SC for in HERA kinematic region while they
turn out to be sizable for the gluon structure function. We compare our
estimates with those for gluon distribution in leading order (LO) and next to
leading order (NLO) in the DGLAP evolution equations.Comment: 9pp,6 figures in eps file
Nuclear shadowing from exclusive quarkonium photoproduction at the BNL RHIC and CERN LHC
The photonuclear production of vector mesons in ultraperipheral heavy ion
collisions is investigated within the collinear approach using different
parameterizations for the nuclear gluon distribution. The integrated cross
section and the rapidity distribution for the () process are computed for energies of RHIC and LHC. A comparison with
the recent PHENIX data on coherent production of mesons is also
presented. We demonstrate that the study of the exclusive quarkonium
photoproduction can be used to constrain the nuclear effects in the gluon
distribution.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables. Version to be published in Physical

Nuclear Medium Effects in Production at HERA-B
In this paper we estimate the influence of the shadowing effect and initial
state parton energy loss in the quarkonium production at HERA-B. We analyze the
behavior of the effective exponent and present a
comparison with the preliminary HERA-B data for production. Moreover,
we estimate the magnitude of these effects in the production at RHIC.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
On the Determination of Small x Shadowing Corrections at HERA
The recent data can be described using the DGLAP evolution equations
with an appropriate choice of input distributions and the choice of the
starting scale for the evolution. We demonstrate in this paper that we
cannot conclude that there are no significant shadowing corrections at HERA
kinematic region using data only. In this paper we calculate the
shadowing corrections to the longitudinal structure function and
to the charm component of the proton structure function at HERA
kinematic region using an eikonal approach. We demonstrate that the shadowing
corrections to these observables are very large and that the charm production
is strongly modified at small-. Our results agree with the recent few H1
data.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figure
Saturation Effects in Deep Inelastic Scattering at low and its Implications on Diffraction
We present a model based on the concept of saturation for small and
small . With only three parameters we achieve a good description of all Deep
Inelastic Scattering data below . This includes a consistent treatment
of charm and a successful extrapolation into the photoproduction regime. The
same model leads to a roughly constant ratio of diffractive and inclusive cross
section.Comment: 24 pages, 12 figures, Latex-fil
A Raman Study of Morphotropic Phase Boundary in PbZr1-xTixO3 at low temperatures
Raman spectra of PbZr1-xTixO3 ceramics with titanium concentration varying
between 0.40 and 0.60 were measured at 7 K. By observing the
concentration-frequency dependence of vibrational modes, we identified the
boundaries among rhombohedral, monoclinic, and tetragonal ferroelectric phases.
The analysis of the spectra was made in the view of theory group analysis
making possible the assignment of some modes for the monoclinic phase.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Geometric Scaling in Inclusive Charm Production
We show that the cross section for inclusive charm production exhibits
geometric scaling in a large range of photon virtualities. In the HERA
kinematic domain the saturation momentum stays below the hard
scale , implying charm production probing mostly the color
transparency regime and unitarization effects being almost negligible. We
derive our results considering two saturation models which are able to describe
the DESY ep collider HERA data for the proton structure function at small
values of the Bjorken variable . A striking feature is the scaling on
above saturation limit, corroborating recent
theoretical studies.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures. Version to be published in Physical Review
