Synthesis, reactions and characterization of 2-methylthionicotino-nitrile, pyrazolopyridine and pyridopyrazolotriazine derivatives

4,6-Diaryl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-3-amines 4a-c wereobtained in very pure state and used as the good startingmaterials for the present study. Compound 4a diazotized to give the corresponding diazonium salt 11 and also, reacted with 2-bromo-1-phenylethanone to give the corresponding pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-2-yl)-1-phenylethanone derivative 7 which in turn, used for the preparation of the hydrazone and formamide derivatives 8 and 10 respectively through its reaction with hydrazine hydrate and formic acid respectively. Compound 11 was used for the preparation of pyridopyrazolotriazine derivatives via its coupling with several active –CH2- containing compounds.Considering the data from IR, 1H NMR, the mass spectra and elemental analyses the chemical structures of the newly synthesized heterocyclic compounds were elucidated

Fuzzy Algorithm for Supervisory Voltage/Frequency Control of a Self Excited Induction Generator

This paper presents the application of a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) to regulate the voltage of a Self Excited Induction Generator (SEIG) driven by Wind Energy Conversion Schemes (WECS). The proposed FLC is used to tune the integral gain (KI) of a Proportional plus Integral (PI) controller. Two types of controls, for the generator and for the wind turbine, using a FLC algorithm, are introduced in this paper. The voltage control is performed to adapt the terminal voltage via self excitation. The frequency control is conducted to adjust the stator frequency through tuning the pitch angle of the WECS blades. Both controllers utilize the Fuzzy technique to enhance the overall dynamic performance.  The simulation result depicts a better dynamic response for the system under study during the starting period, and the load variation. The percentage overshoot, rising time and oscillation are better with the fuzzy controller than with the PI controller type.

Empowering Women Between Justice and Equality Between Islamic Law and International Covenants (Reference Study)

This study aims to explain the concepts of equality in Islamic Sharia, clarify them, and ensure that women find their full rights within a just law legislated by God Almighty. In the past, women in Western countries suffered from injustice under man-made legislation, which led to demands for their rights resulting in narrow equality between them and men, which was not fair. The study concluded that the term empowerment was closest to the aspect of equality but neglected the role and function of men in society, which is not permitted by Islamic law. Islamic law provides equal rights and duties to both genders, guided by the balance of justice that God Almighty has prescribed. The researchers recommend discussing the concept of empowerment in Islamic law compared to what is stated in international agreements and womens rights organizations through conferences and modern means of communication

Divorce Etiquette in the Holy Quran

This study dealt with a social issue, namely (the etiquette of divorce in the Noble Qur’an). The observer in our contemporary conditions finds the ignorance of many people in divorce, its rulings, and its etiquette, and it is an important problem whose social effects have exacerbated, and the disputes transcend the spouses, to include the effects of animosity between the family and the clan. Studying in order to draw from the help of our immortal Lord will not be a guiding light for us, leading us to coexistence in goodness, so that one knows what he has and what duties he owes, and he performs them as he commanded, and there is no way for us to rise except by following this pure source. This study dealt with divorce linguistically and idiomatically, and its types and provisions in the first requirement, and as for the second requirement, it has dealt with (the etiquette of divorce) exclusively in the Holy Qur’an and this is what distinguishes it from what I reckon with monitoring of what was mentioned by some commentators, especially the modern ones among them of etiquette and its cults, with the protest According to the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet, what was needed, in order to complete the picture of those manners

Conversion of Uric Acid into Ammonium in Oil-Degrading Marine Microbial Communities: a Possible Role of Halomonads

Uric acid is a promising hydrophobic nitrogen source for biostimulation of microbial activities in oil-impacted marine environments. This study investigated metabolic processes and microbial community changes in a series of microcosms using sediment from the Mediterranean and the Red Sea amended with ammonium and uric acid. Respiration, emulsification, ammonium and protein concentration measurements suggested a rapid production of ammonium from uric acid accompanied by the development of microbial communities containing hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria after 3 weeks of incubation. About 80 % of uric acid was converted to ammonium within the first few days of the experiment. Microbial population dynamics were investigated by Ribosomal Intergenic Spacer Analysis and Illumina sequencing as well as by culture-based techniques. Resulting data indicated that strains related to Halomonas spp. converted uric acid into ammonium, which stimulated growth of microbial consortia dominated by Alcanivorax spp. and Pseudomonas spp. Several strains of Halomonas spp. were isolated on uric acid as the sole carbon source showed location specificity. These results point towards a possible role of halomonads in the conversion of uric acid to ammonium utilized by hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria

Complications associated with transobturator sling procedures: analysis of 233 consecutive cases with a 27 months follow-up

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Backround</p> <p>The transobturator tape procedure (TOT) is an effective surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence. However data concerning safety are rare, follow-up is often less than two years, and complications are probably underreported. The aim of this study was to describe early and late complications associated with TOT procedures and identify risk factors for erosions.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>It was a 27 months follow-up of a cohort of 233 women who underwent TOT with three different types of slings (Aris^®, Obtape^®, TVT-O^®). Follow-up information was available for 225 (96.6%) women.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>There were few per operative complications. Forty-eight women (21.3%) reported late complications including <it>de novo </it>or worsening of preexisting urgencies (10.2%), perineal pain (2.2%), <it>de novo </it>dyspareunia (9%), and vaginal erosion (7.6%). The risk of erosion significantly differed between the three types of slings and was 4%, 17% and 0% for Aris^®, Obtape^®and TVT-O^®respectively (P = 0.001). The overall proportion of women satisfied by the procedure was 72.1%. The percentage of women satisfied was significantly lower in women who experienced erosion (29.4%) compared to women who did not (78.4%) (RR 0.14, 95% CI 0.05-0.38, P < 0.001).</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Late post operative complications are relatively frequent after TOT and can impair patient's satisfaction. Women should be informed of these potential complications preoperatively and require careful follow-up after the procedure. Choice of the safest sling material is crucial as it is a risk factor for erosion.</p
