    In this article we describe a rare clinical condition of stress cardiomyopathy (takotsubo cardiomyopathy) for which we, despite controversy and lack of data, identified the main pathogenic pathways (including the direct toxic effect of catecholamines on the myocardium, catecholamine-mediated myocardial stunning, and microcirculation disorders). After the systematic review, we identified the distinct pathology features of this condition and new diagnostic strategies

Calculations have shown that for the (100) and (111) faces, direction of magnetic moments parallel to the film plane is energetically favorable.     Nucleation and growth of a new phase at the intermediate stage of phase transitions in metastable solutions and melts

    A complete analytical solution of an integro-differential model, which describes the intermediate stage of phase transitions in one-component melts and solutions without allowance for fluctuations in the crystal growth rates, is found. An exact analytical solution of the kinetic equation is determined within the framework of this model. The density of distribution function of crystals in sizes is found. An integro-differential equation for the system metastability level (for its supercooling/supersaturation) is derived for different kinetic mechanisms of particle nucleation. A complete analytical solution of this equation is constructed on the basis of saddle-point method for the Laplace-type integral (steepest descent method). Four approximations of the analytical solution are analyzed and its convergence is shown. The kinetic mechanisms of Weber-Volmer-Frenkel-ZePdovich and A loirs are studied. A transient behavior of the number of particles and the mean crystal size is determined for supercooled melts

    Postoperative pericardial effusion (PPE) represents a very common complication in cardiac surgery. Accumulation of a significant amount of free fluid in the pericardial cavity is a multifactorial process. Identifying the cause is not always possible. This complication occurs more frequently in patients after heart transplantation than in patients who underwent reconstructive cardiac surgery. Having hemodynamically significant effusion requires surgical evacuation of fluid from the pericardial cavity. This can affect the postoperative period and increase the length of stay at the hospital. For this reason, developing and ensuring widespread use of methods for prevention of this complication are urgent and relevant tasks.Перикардиальный выпот после кардиохирургического вмешательства является одним из наиболее распространенных осложнений. Процесс накопления значимого количества свободной жидкости в полости перикарда является многофакторным, и не всегда удается установить причину его развития. У пациентов после трансплантации сердца данное осложнение встречается чаще, чем у пациентов, перенесших реконструктивное кардиохирургическое вмешательство. Наличие гемодинамически значимой эффузии требует выполнения хирургической эвакуации жидкости из полости перикарда, что может сказываться на течении послеоперационного периода и увеличивать срок госпитализации пациентов. По этой причине разработка и широкое применение методов профилактики данного осложнения являются актуальными

    Spectroscopic properties of HoFe3(BO3)4, NdFe3(BO3)4 and Ho0.75Nd0.25Fe3(BO3)4 single crystals

    Polarized absorption spectra of ferroborates HoFe3(BO3)4, NdFe3(BO3)4 and Ho0.75Nd0.25Fe3(BO3)4 were measured at room temperature in spectral range 4000–24500 cm−1 (400–2500 nm). The studied single crystals were grown from solution-melts. Intensities of the f-f transitions were measured and the Judd–Ofelt parameters Ωλ of Ho3+ and Nd3+ ions in the studied crystals were calculated. It was revealed that the crystals content not strongly influences the Judd–Ofelt parameters. The Ω2 parameter for Ho3+ ion is the most sensitive to the crystal content. Linear dichroism of the hypersensitive transitions appeared to be the largest one for both rare earth ions

    Seasonal fluctuations in Baltic sea level determined from satellite altimetry

    International audienceThis study used gridded daily satellite altimetry observations to investigate the spatial variability in the Baltic seasonal sea-level cycle and to assess the main factors that affected its interannual changes during the 1993-2018 period. In addition to the widely studied annual (Sa) and semiannual (Ssa) harmonics, the characteristics of higher frequency oscillations (terannual (three times a year or Sta) and quarterannual (four times a year or Sqa)) were investigated. We demonstrated that the Sa, Ssa, and Sqa harmonics can be reliably identified from gridded daily satellite altimetry data for all regions of the Baltic Sea. The Sta harmonic was reliably identified in all regions except the southeast part of the Baltic Proper and Danish Straits. Low amplitudes and large uncertainties caused by noise in the SLA time series impeded the Sta evaluation in these two regions. In the Baltic Sea, annual oscillations of sea level propagate from the southwest to northeast at a speed of 0.15-0.36 m/s, which is close to the theoretical phase speed of the baroclinic Kelvin wave. The Ssa, Sta, and Sqa oscillations did not demonstrate a statistically reliable spatial variability in the phase. In many regions of the Baltic Sea for the 1993-2018 period, a statistically significant (at the 95% level) increase of +1.3- + 2.2 mm/yr was observed for the amplitudes of the Sa harmonic, while for the amplitudes of the Ssa harmonic, a statistically significant decrease was detected. No statistically significant changes were observed in the amplitudes of the Sta and Sqa harmonics. Wind, atmospheric pressure, and water exchange with the North Sea correlated well with interannual changes in the sea-level seasonal cycle. The air temperature correlated well only with the Sa component. Precipitation, evaporation, and river input were not correlated with seasonal or interannual changes in the sea-level cycle
