The purpose of this investigation is to study the factors affecting osteoporosis in women with the logistic regression analysis in order to evaluate the effect of those risk factors. The age of women ranged between 40-70 years. A questionnaire was prepared for this study and the questions were directed to patients. The research was conducted on a total of 250 patients. As the dependent variable is in a categorical data type with two levels, binary logistic regression analysis was applied. According to the analysis results, such factors as age, weight, calcium amount of the individual, duration of the exercise, genetic factors, being in menopause and smoking have significant effect pushing individuals towards being osteoporotic. In order to prevent osteoporosis, a person should lose weight, increase weekly exercises, be careful about the calcium amount in her body and reduce smoking. particularly elder ones

The Valpar Upper Extremity Range of Motion Work Sample evaluates an individual’s ability to reach into 1-foot-square box and manipulate small and large nuts onto bolts. The Purdue Pegbord Test was designed in 1948 to test the dexerity needed for potential employees to perform jobs, such as assembly work, packing or machine operation. The purpose of our study was to determine the validity of the functional tests in differentiating between jobs and healthy subjects. One hundred fifty subjects with no history of hand injury or disease were assessed. In male subjects, no significant differences were found between different jobs, age, sex, dominant hand and work duration on both tests (p>0.05). Correlation between the Purdue subtests and Valpar subtests were moderate to high (p<0.01). Correlations between the 3 subtests of Valpar in males and females were found (p<0.05). For both tests norms for employed healthy subjects are available to assess on individual’s speed of coordination in comparison with a large random sample of healthy subjects male and female subjects. Further studies are needed to examine the correlation between ROM and pinch grip to performance on the Purdue and Valpar subtests

    No full text
In today's information society, the media have important functions in the formation of certain perceptions by regulating the social lives of individuals. This occurs through messages that come in different formats (verbally, audibly, visually etc.) from the media. It is through the media literacy that enables reading messages from the media and interpreting them critically. The aim of this chapter is to provide some theoretical perspectives on media literacy. In this context, media literacy has been explained in detail. For this, primarily the differences between reading-writing and literacy are revealed. Besides conceptual media literacy, its necessity and some examples of practices in the world related to its education are mentioned. The chapter also addresses the basic paradigms in media literacy. © 2021 by IGI Global. All rights reserved
