The aquaporin superfamily of hydrophobic integral membrane proteins constitutes water channels essential to the movement of water across the cell membrane, maintaining homeostatic equilibrium. During the passage of water between the extracellular and intracellular sides of the cell, aquaporins act as ultra-sensitive filters. Owing to their hydrophobic nature, aquaporins self-assemble in phospholipids. If a proper choice of lipids is made then the aquaporin biomimetic membrane can be used in the design of an artificial kidney. In combination with graphene, the aquaporin biomimetic membrane finds practical application in desalination and water recycling using mostly Escherichia coli AqpZ. Recently, human aquaporin 1 has emerged as an important biomarker in renal cell carcinoma. At present, the ultra-sensitive sensing of renal cell carcinoma is cumbersome. Hence, we discuss the use of epitopes from monoclonal antibodies as a probe for a point-of-care device for sensing renal cell carcinoma. This device works by immobilizing the antibody on the surface of a single-layer graphene, that is, as a microfluidic device for sensing renal cell carcinoma

Transboundary Transport of Air Pollutants from the Czech Republic to Poland through Brama Morawska

The paper presents measurement data on transboundary transport of SO2 and NO2 to Poland Through Brama Morawska.Due to the application of correlation spectrometer measurements, oriented approach of pollutant loads assessments was possible.Annual loads of SO2 and NO2 inflow were found to be 105 x 10 and 16 x 10 tons respectively.Emissions from Ostrava and Karvina districts as well as from Dietmarovice power plant mostly caused these values.Pollutant plumes from Trzniec seemed to inflow to Poland mainly through valleys of the Beskidy Mts. It was found that there was no significant relationship between plume appearance recorded by correlative spectrometers and pollutants concentration at the ground level in the area 3-5Km from the Polish-Czech border-line.JRC.(EI)-Environment Institut

The aim of the study was determineing the level content of vitamins D3 and K2 and the content of vitamins in salads after supplementation. The calcium and magnesium ions were also tested in salads and supplementation products to determine the availability of calcium and magnesium ions after salad supplementation and to determine the interaction of active substances and calcium ion. The combination of food supplementation has a positive influence on the correct regulation of calcium and phosphate and the strengthening of bones and elements of the skeletal system. Vitamin D additionally supports and strengthens the immune system during long and intense efforts. It also affects the functioning of the nervous and muscular systems, and also acts as a factor that reduces inflammation
