Hypertension as a Determining Factor in the Rupture of Intracranial Aneurysms, Diagnosed by 64-MDCT Angiography

Background: To determine a correlation between risk factors and the rupture of intracranial aneurysms. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 29 patients with a saccular intracranial aneurysm was obtained using consecutive sampling and examination of 64-MDCT angiography. Bivariate statistical analysis using Fisher's exact test was arranged using cross-tabulation to determine the correlation between each risk factor of age, sex, hypertension, and smoking with the occurrence of ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Results: The highest incidence of ruptured intracranial aneurysms were in patients aged <60 years (70%), male (75%), experienced hypertension (85%), and were smokers (85.7%). Only the risk factor of hypertension had a correlation with the occurrence of a ruptured intracranial aneurysm (p < 0.05). The prevalence ratio of age and sex were 1.0 and 0.9, whereas hypertension and smoking were 2.6 and 1.3. Conclusions: The risk factor of hypertension leading to a ruptured intracranial aneurysm was 2.6 times higher than non-hypertensive patients, and as such hypertension is a risk factor associated with the occurrence of ruptured intracranial aneurysm

The MSSM Parameter Space with Non-Universal Higgs Masses

Without assuming that Higgs masses have the same values as other scalar masses at the input GUT scale, we combine constraints on the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) coming from the cold dark matter density with the limits from direct searches at accelerators such as LEP, indirect measurements such as b to s gamma decay and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. The requirement that Higgs masses-squared be positive at the GUT scale imposes important restrictions on the MSSM parameter space, as does the requirement that the LSP be neutral. We analyze the interplay of these constraints in the (mu, m_A), (mu, m_{1/2}), (m_{1/2}, m_0) and (m_A, tan beta) planes. These exhibit new features not seen in the corresponding planes in the constrained MSSM in which universality is extended to Higgs masses.Comment: 18 pages, latex, 10 eps figure

Background: Nurses are requested to give an excellent services to patients not only excellent in skills but also excellent in behaviour which serve comfort to patients. The behaviour is called professional behaviour or soft skill. Purpose: The aim of this research is investigating the effectiveness of MSF in assessing nursing students\u27 professional behaviour (PB).Methods: The design of the research is an evaluation study which compares the result of PB between before and after joining practice in clinical setting. The participants were thirty three participants consisting of 33 nursing students and 3 mentors. Data were collected using a quantitative approach. The participants are requested to do self and peer assessment using SPRAT modification form while mentors are asked to assess nursing students using the same form. The assessment was conducted twice, before and after joining internship. The data were analysed to compare the score of PB before and after joining the internship among group of participant using Paired sample T-test or dependent sample T test. Result: The results showed that there were differences of score between before and after joining internship with α = 0.000; 0.001; and 0.000 for self, peer, and mentor assessment respectively. There was no difference of score before joining internship among assessors with α = 0.509, and there was a difference of score after joining internship among assessors with α = 0.005. It means that MSF is an effective method to assess PB of nursing students. Conclusion: Applying MSF method to assess PB of nursing student is suggested for better assessment

The research wanted to measure the quality of facilities in RS Bhakti Asih Brebes, and wanted to improve the awareness of staff medical about medical treatments that make nosocomial infection. This research also wanted to improve the cleaning service in hospital room.Methods. This research used descriptive analytic observational method with survey collecting method. The research design was cross sectional which is no intervention by researcher. This research population is staff in RS BhaktiResult. Most of respondents are female with 5 – 7 year work experiences. Medical and non medical staff in RS Bhakti Asih had good knowledge about nosocomial infection. The knowledge about it and how to avoid it were analyzed, and there were no significance differences (p>0,05) between knowledge in medical staff and non medical staff.Conclusion. There were no significance differences in medical staff and non medical staff about nosocomial infection knowledge and how to avoid

Exploration of the MSSM with Non-Universal Higgs Masses

We explore the parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), allowing the soft supersymmetry-breaking masses of the Higgs multiplets, m_{1,2}, to be non-universal (NUHM). Compared with the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) in which m_{1,2} are required to be equal to the soft supersymmetry-breaking masses m_0 of the squark and slepton masses, the Higgs mixing parameter mu and the pseudoscalar Higgs mass m_A, which are calculated in the CMSSM, are free in the NUHM model. We incorporate accelerator and dark matter constraints in determining allowed regions of the (mu, m_A), (mu, M_2) and (m_{1/2}, m_0) planes for selected choices of the other NUHM parameters. In the examples studied, we find that the LSP mass cannot be reduced far below its limit in the CMSSM, whereas m_A may be as small as allowed by LEP for large tan \beta. We present in Appendices details of the calculations of neutralino-slepton, chargino-slepton and neutralino-sneutrino coannihilation needed in our exploration of the NUHM.Comment: 92 pages LaTeX, 32 eps figures, final version, some changes to figures pertaining to the b to s gamma constrain

"In The Spirit": A Triune Reformulation

The Ecumenical and Reformed Creeds and Confessions hold a continuity of Trinitarian doctrine as formulated since the Nicene creed (325 AD). Yet the role of the spirit seems to be undermined in such formulations. The historical context of the Nicene creed emphasized on the homoousios of the Son. Thus, the filioque in the Nicene later formulation. In this article, the author addresses the lacuna of the role of the Spirit in the traditional Trinitarian formulations. Based on John Calvin’s understanding of an autotheos Trinity, and his timeless view of eternity, the significance of the Spirit should have an equally prominent role. The renewed position should leave no ontological subordinationism either of the Son or the Spirit—a correction to the Eastern and the Western church formulations. In addition, the reformulation read in autothean interpretation shows how the inherent hypostasis submission fits with God’s mission in the history of salvation

High-Energy Constraints on the Direct Detection of MSSM Neutralinos

The requirement that the MSSM remain an acceptable effective field theory up to energies beyond the weak scale constrains the sparticle spectrum, and hence the permissible ranges of cold dark matter neutralino-proton cross sections. Specifically, squarks are generally much heavier than sleptons if no tachyons are to appear before the GUT scale ~10^16 GeV, or even before 10 TeV. We display explicitly the allowed ranges of effective squark and slepton masses at the weak scale, and the cross-section ranges allowed if the MSSM is to remain valid without tachyons up to 10 TeV or the GUT scale. The allowed areas in the cross section-mass plane for both spin-independent and spin-dependent scattering are significantly smaller than would be allowed if the MSSM were required to be valid only around the weak scale. In addition to a reduction in the maximum cross section, the upper limit on the neutralino mass is greatly reduced when tachyons are avoided, particularly for smaller values of the squark masses.Comment: 22 pages, 22 figure
