    A dynamic almost blank subframe scheme for video streaming traffic model in heterogeneous networks

    © 2015 IEEE. In heterogeneous network (HetNet), the coverage area of picocell is small due to transmission power difference between macro eNodeB (eNB) and pico eNB. As a result, the traffic load is distributed unequally which yields to macrocell overloading. In order to overcome this issue, cell range expansion (CRE) technique has been proposed. However, the CRE approach can affect the downlink signal quality of the offloaded users and then these users experience high downlink interference from macro eNB on their control and data channels. Therefore, such inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) techniques are needed to realize the promised capacity and coverage. Enhanced ICIC (eICIC) is a time domain technique to mitigate interference in HetNets using almost blank subframes (ABSs). However, the static ABS value cannot support the dynamic changing of network conditions. In this paper, a dynamic ABS scheme is proposed based on Genetic Algorithm to find the best ABS value and ABS locations in a frame to mitigate interference problem between macrocell and picocells for video streaming traffic model. Exhaustive simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the system performance in terms of throughput, outage probability and delay

    AbstractCigarette smoking (CS) continues to be a major health hazard, and it contributes significantly to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Cigarette smoking impacts all phases of atherosclerosis from endothelial dysfunction to acute clinical events, the latter being largely thrombotic. Both active and passive (environmental) cigarette smoke exposure predispose to cardiovascular events. Whether there is a distinct direct dose-dependent correlation between cigarette smoke exposure and risk is debatable, as some recent experimental clinical studies have shown a non-linear relation to cigarette smoke exposure. The exact toxic components of cigarette smoke and the mechanisms involved in CS-related cardiovascular dysfunction are largely unknown, but CS increases inflammation, thrombosis, and oxidation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Recent experimental and clinical data support the hypothesis that cigarette smoke exposure increases oxidative stress as a potential mechanism for initiating cardiovascular dysfunction

    Piperine content variation in different Piper longum germplasms of North East India determined through RP-HPLC method

    The present experiment was conducted at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat with ten accessions including check variety of Piper Longum germplasm collected from different states of North Eastern region during 2013-14 and 2014-15.The piperine, a major alkaloid used in different therapeutic treatment, per cent content was determined from dried plant materials. Deionised water was used throughout the experiment and the chromatographic separation was carried out in an isocratic elution mode on RP-18 column with 5?m particle size, 4.6mm internal diameter and 250mm length. The mobile phase was a mixture of methanol and water (80: 20). The solvent flow rate was 1.0 ml/minwith injection volume 20 µL. The photo diode array detector wavelength was set at 342 nm for the identification of piperine in all extracts. The per cent piperine content in extract was found to be 42.36 per cent in germplasm PLJ-30.The highest per cent piperine content in fruit was recorded in PLJ-11(7.85%) followed by germplasm PLJ-9 (7.64) and significantly superior over check variety“Viswam”(5.15%). The descending order of piperine content in fruits among germplasm was PLJ-11?PLJ-09?PLJ-30?PLJ-17? PLJ-03? PLJ-19? check variety?PLJ-01? PLJ-20 and PLJ-16. It can be revealed from the present experiment that piper germplasm with high piperine content has a great scope for commercial cultivation as alkaloid piperine has high demand in pharmaceutical use

    Evaluation of petroleum based horticulture oil for the management of the tea red spider mite, Oligonychus coffeae Neitner (Acarina: Tetranychidae)

    The Servo agro spray oil (petroleum based horticulture oil) was evaluated in the laboratory against tea red spider mite, Oligonychus coffeae to determine its effect on adult mortality, viability of eggs, oviposition deterrence and repellent properties. The same was also evaluated in the field to determine its effect on mite population. Direct spray method was used in the laboratory at concentrations of 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5%. Mortality of O. coffeae was both concentration and time dependent. Deposition of eggs by adult mites on treated leaf surfaces decreased significantly and the viability of eggs was also significantly reduced. In addition, different concentrations of the Servo agro spray also exhibited repellent properties against adult mites. In the field Servo agro spray oil significantly reduced the mite population and its bio-efficacy was comparable to that of the synthetic pesticide (propargite 57 EC). No phytotoxic effect was observed when tea bushes were sprayed with different doses of Servo agro spray. Tea samples were taint free. Quality (appearance of liquor, flavour, taint and taste) of made tea was not adversely affected by treatments with Servo agro spray oil. Therefore Servo agro spray oil may be a potential agent to be used in the sustainable management of tea red spider mite

Version 2.2 of the software introduces numerous new features for both model specification and simulation.     Astrophysical S_{17}(0) factor from a measurement of d(7Be,8B)n reaction at E_{c.m.} = 4.5 MeV

    Angular distribution measurements of 2^2H(7^7Be,7^7Be)2^2H and 2^2H(7^7Be,8^8B)nn reactions at Ec.m.E_{c.m.}\sim~4.5 MeV were performed to extract the astrophysical S17(0)S_{17}(0) factor using the asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) method. For this purpose a pure, low emittance 7^7Be beam was separated from the primary 7^7Li beam by a recoil mass spectrometer operated in a novel mode. A beam stopper at 0^{\circ} allowed the use of a higher 7^7Be beam intensity. Measurement of the elastic scattering in the entrance channel using kinematic coincidence, facilitated the determination of the optical model parameters needed for the analysis of the transfer data. The present measurement significantly reduces errors in the extracted 7^7Be(p,γ\gamma) cross section using the ANC method.     Comparing titanium elastic nailing and plate osteosynthesis in treating both bone diaphyseal fractures of forearm in children

    Background: The present study aimed to compare the outcome of fixation of diaphyseal fractures of both bones of forearm using plate osteosynthesis (PO) and titanium elastic nail (TEN).Methods: This comparative non-randomized clinical trial was done on children aged 5 to 15 years, with diaphyseal fractures of both bone forearm fractures, operated and managed at the department of orthopedics, Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. Intra- and post-operative findings were compared between PO and TEN group patients.Results: Duration of hospital stay was significantly lower in patients in the TEN group (44.75±6.38 minutes) as compared to those in the PO group (69.71±5.91 minutes), p value <0.01. Similarly, duration of hospital stay was significantly lower in patients in the TEN group (5.01±0.67 days) as compared to those in the PO group (8.32±1.44 days), p value <0.05. Based on price criteria, 80% of the patients in the PO group and 85% in TEN group had excellent functional outcome. Radiological union time, maximum radial bow and location of maximal radial bow were found to be statistically similar in the two groups. Complication rate was similar in the two study groups.Conclusions: Based on the results of the present study, we conclude that both PO and TEN are be safely performed in children with diaphyseal both bone forearm fractures. With comparable functional and radiological outcomes, future studies are required before one technique can be recommended over the other
