    Licensing patterns for Linked Data

    Rights expression languages declare the permitted and prohibited actions to be performed on a resource. Along this work, six rights expression languages are compared, abstracting their commonalities and outlining their underlying pattern. Linked Data, which can be object of protection by the intellectual property laws or its access be restricted by an access control system, can be the asset in rights expressions.     Linked Data assets (RDF triples, graphs, datasets, mappings...) can be object of protection by the intellectual property law, the database law or its access or publication be restricted by other legal reasons (personal data pro- tection, security reasons, etc.). Publishing a rights expression along with the digital asset, allows the rightsholder waiving some or all of the IP and database rights (leaving the work in the public domain), permitting some operations if certain conditions are satisfied (like giving attribution to the author) or simply reminding the audience that some rights are reserved

    Abstract In order to analyze the current process of operation of slaughterhouses and propose actions for an appropriate control, as well as implement the reduction of water used per slaughtered animal, this study of green production applied to the processes in a selected municipal slaughterhouse in Querétaro, Mexico was undertaken. Also, from treatability tests of wastewater, a mobile prototype of water treatment (1.5 m 3 /day) was conceptualized, designed and built. This prototype is operating at the slaughterhouse and demonstrates the efficiency of treatment of those waters. Along with the prototype, this project developed a technological folder with technical specifications, comparative analysis of production units and a business plan that brings together all the necessary information to evaluate the project and the general guidelines to implement it in other municipalities of Querétaro. The business plan is essential to seek funding, partners or investors, and serves as a guide for those leading the implementation of the results obtained in this project at other municipalities. Additionally, an environmental impact study was performed to identify and interpret the environmental impacts of a full scale project, with emphasis on environmental benefits

    Production of extracts with anaesthetic activity from the culture of Heterosigma akashiwo in pilot-scale photobioreactors

    The shear-sensitive microalga Heterosigma akashiwo is known to produce brevetoxin-like compounds that are active in voltage-dependent sodium channels. In this work, we present a study on the production of anaesthetic extracts from H. akashiwo biomass obtained in low-shear bioreactors at different growth phases. The photobioreactors (PBRs) used had specific configurations and were operated in such a way as to avoid cellular damage by hydrodynamic stress. Cultures were developed in small static-control flasks and PBRs with volumes ranging from 1.5 L to 200 L. The bioactivity of the produced extracts was assessed in vitro (Neuro-2a cell-based assay) and in vivo (Zebra fish model). Bioactivity depended slightly on the growth phase and culture system, with greater toxicity with the Neuro-2a model when stationary-phase extracts were used. Interestingly, extracts were not cytotoxic against other human cell lines. Steady production of anaesthetic bioactives was observed. In vivo anaesthetic efficacy, assessed with the Zebra fish model, was similar to that of commercial products, and without any observed mortality at 24-h post exposure

    CHAIN-REDS DART Challenge

    CHAIN-REDS (Coordination and Harmonisation of Advanced e-infrastructure for Research and Education Data Sharing) is EU project focused on promoting and supporting technological and scientific collaboration across different communities established in various continents. Nowadays, one of the most challenging scenarios scientist and scientific communities are facing is huge amount of data emerging from vast networks of sensors and form computational simulations performed in a diversity of computing architectures and e-infrastructure. The new knowledge coming out from the interpretation of these datasets, reported on the scholar literature, is increasingly problematic to be reproducible due to the difficulty to access measured data repositories and/or computational applications that generate synthetic data through computer simulations. This paper presents CHAIN REDS approach, several tools and services, based on the adoption of standards, aimed at providing easy/seamless access to datasets, data repositories, open access document repositories and to the applications that could make use of them. All these tools and services are enclosed in what we have called the Data Accessibility, Reproducibility and Trustworthiness (DART) challenge. This initiative allows researchers to easily find data of his interest and directly use them in a code running by means of a Science Gateway (SG) that provides access to cluster, Grid and Cloud infrastructure worldwide. In this scenario, the datasets are found by means of either the CHAIN-REDS Knowledge Base (KB) or the Semantic Search Engine (SSE), the applications ran on the CHAIN-REDS SG, accessible through an Identity Federation. The datasets can be both identified by Persistent Identifier (PID) and assigned unique number ID. Scientists can then access the data and the corresponding application in order to either reproduce and extend the results of a given study or start a new investigation. The new data (and the new paper if any) are stored on the Data Infrastructure and can be easily found by the people belonging to the same domain making possible to start the cycle again.Repositório de dados científicos.Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Consortium (ISTEC

Although the pathogenesis of the disease remains largely unclear, lipid peroxidation seems to play a central role in the pathogenesis.
