Observations on the Genus Vaucheria (Xanthophyceae, Vaucheriales) from the Gulf of Mexico
Investigations of algal mats from several locations along the Gulf of Mexico from Cameron Parish, Louisiana, to Manatee County, Florida, were conducted from February 1979 to February 1980. Habitat preference, distribution, and morphology are reported herein for nine species and one variety of Vaucheria de Candolle. Five taxa–V. arcassionensis, V. aversa, V. coronata, V. prolifera var. reticulospora, and V. pseudogeminata–are first reports for the Gulf of Mexico coastal region. Vaucheria velutina (=V. thuretii), the most abundant taxon identified in the region, is common in diverse habitats. Vaucheria prolifera var. reticulospora is reported for the first time in North America from coastal Mississippi

On Provably Safe and Live Multirobot Coordination With Online Goal Posting
A standing challenge in multirobot systems is to realize safe and efficient motion planning and coordination methods that are capable of accounting for uncertainties and contingencies. The challenge is rendered harder by the fact that robots may be heterogeneous and that their plans may be posted asynchronously. Most existing approaches require constraints on the infrastructure or unrealistic assumptions on robot models. In this article, we propose a centralized, loosely-coupled supervisory controller that overcomes these limitations. The approach responds to newly posed constraints and uncertainties during trajectory execution, ensuring at all times that planned robot trajectories remain kinodynamically feasible, that the fleet is in a safe state, and that there are no deadlocks or livelocks. This is achieved without the need for hand-coded rules, fixed robot priorities, or environment modification. We formally state all relevant properties of robot behavior in the most general terms possible, without assuming particular robot models or environments, and provide both formal and empirical proof that the proposed fleet control algorithms guarantee safety and liveness
Intermittent generalized synchronization in unidirectionally coupled chaotic oscillators
A new behavior type of unidirectionally coupled chaotic oscillators near the
generalized synchronization transition has been detected. It has been shown
that the generalized synchronization appearance is preceded by the intermitted
behavior: close to threshold parameter value the coupled chaotic systems
demonstrate the generalized synchronization most of the time, but there are
time intervals during which the synchronized oscillations are interrupted by
non-synchronous bursts. This type of the system behavior has been called
intermitted generalized synchronization (IGS) by analogy with intermitted lag
synchronization (ILS) [Phys. Rev. E \textbf{62}, 7497 (2000)].Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures, using epl.cls; published in Europhysics Letters.

Time scale synchronization of chaotic oscillators
This paper presents the result of the investigation of chaotic oscillator
synchronization. A new approach for detecting of synchronized behaviour of
chaotic oscillators has been proposed. This approach is based on the analysis
of different time scales in the time series generated by the coupled chaotic
oscillators. This approach has been applied for the coupled Rossler and Lorenz
systems.Comment: 19 pages, 12 figure
Retórica De Uma Biografia: Padre Antonio Vieira Por João Lúcio De Azevedo
To a large extent, the fact that Father Antonio Vieira (1608-1697) is still seen as a man who was divided among very diverse actions, politically ambitious, temperamental, contradictory, driven by chimeras, slightly attracted by his own eloquence, but at the same time as somebody with a great character; brave and decided, is due to father Vieira's biography written by the Portuguese historian João Lúcio de Azevedo (1855-1933). This image has been so firmlysettled that it is now difficult to think of different convincing interpretations of father Vieira's actions. New biographies have done nothing but provide more information about the same terms. As a matter of fact, when I tried, in several works, to oppose to certain periodological and psychologizing divisions that seemed to determine a large part of Vieira's readings, it was especially that biography what I had to face. What narrative procedures make Vieira's biography so particularly convincing? That is the question that I try to answer in this article.85271292De Abreu, C., (1954) Correspondência de Capistrano de Abreu., , Prefacio de José Honório Rodrigues. Pathways to Economic Outcomes and the Impact of Health: Comparing Hispanic and Non-Hispanic Adults after Foster Care
Abstract
This study examines the financial outcomes in adulthood of Hispanics (N = 87) and White (Non-Hispanic, N = 498) persons placed in foster care during childhood. It uses the Casey Family Programs National Alumni Study (CFPNAS) database. Path models including predictors such as gender, education, having a partner, preparation for leaving care, and problem characteristics yielded predominantly similar effects for Hispanic and White Non-Hispanic respondents. The direct effect of physical and mental health conditions such as physical or learning disability, visual or hearing impairments, or DSM disorders more strongly predicted negative outcomes for White (Non-Hispanic) respondents than for Hispanic ones
