A new operational matrix based on Bernoulli polynomials

In this research, the Bernoulli polynomials are introduced. The properties of these polynomials are employed to construct the operational matrices of integration together with the derivative and product. These properties are then utilized to transform the differential equation to a matrix equation which corresponds to a system of algebraic equations with unknown Bernoulli coefficients. This method can be used for many problems such as differential equations, integral equations and so on. Numerical examples show the method is computationally simple and also illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the method

This study investigates the perceptions of teachers, students and educational counsellors regarding the role and function of educational counsellors in credit course secondary schools in Kuwait. A field study was carried out in ten credit course secondary schools located across Kuwait's five educational geographical zones. A sample of 300 students, 300 teachers and 30 educational counsellors completed a twenty-item questionnaire, the data from which were analysed using the SPSS statistical package. Differences in perceptions were found between the three groups, suggesting role conflict and ambiguity. To obtain information about the actual role of educational counsellors, all 32 educational counsellors from all the credit course secondary schools in Kuwait were interviewed, and were asked to complete a checklist, and answer a time-scale questionnaire. The results confirmed the view that role conflict and ambiguity are impairing the performance and lowering the morale of educational counsellors. Possible causes of the conflict are identified, and recommendations made for modification of the guidance and counselling programmes

Effects of using n-3 HUFA-enriched Artemia and non-enriched Artemia as the starter food for growth and survival of rainbow trout larvae compared to commercial concentrated food were investigated in this study. The larvae with average weight of 92.9 mg were fed for 20 days with four food treatments included of commercial concentrated food, newly hatched Artemia, enriched Artemia, and mixture of enriched Artemia and concentrated food. At the end of experiment, the highest weight gain percentage was 104.4% in those larvae fed with enriched Artemia (p< 0.05). The highest survival rate was 96.5 % observed in larvae fed with mixture of enriched Artemia and commercial concentrated food (P<0.05). Larvae of third treatment that were fed with enriched Artemia with a survival rate of 98.9 %±1.9 under stress condition of low pH and survival rate of 66.5%±3.7 under stress condition of higher pH in rearing environment, were the most resistant larvae against stress resulting from pH fluctuation (P<0.05). Meanwhile the highest resistance against stress, resulting from temperature changes, was seen in larvae of the third and fourth treatment with survival rate of 77.8% at 24°C respectively

تم إعطاء مثال لاظهار صحة نتيجتنا الرئيسية .The purpose of this paper is to introduce and prove some coupled coincidence fixed point theorems for self mappings satisfying -contractive condition with rational expressions on complete partially ordered metric spaces involving altering distance functions with mixed monotone property of the mapping. Our results improve and unify a multitude of coupled fixed point theorems and generalize some recent results in partially ordered metric space. An example is given to show the validity of our main result.

Prognostic significance of COX-2 and b-catenin in colorectal carcinoma

Background: The high prevalence of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is a driver to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms. Chemoprevention strategy using non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) revealed that these drugs suppress colorectal carcinoma. The best known targets of NSAIDs are cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. The function of prostaglandins and cyclooxygenase in cancer pathogenesis is unclear. COX-2 regulation of proliferation, apoptosis, and tumor-blood vessel interaction has been suggested. b-Catenin is a component of the WNT (wingless type) signaling pathway, increased protein concentrations promote transcription of genes important in regulating the cell cycle.Aim: To determine the significance of COX-2 and b-catenin expression in colorectal carcinogenesis and prognosis.Patients and methods: Thirty patients with colorectal carcinomas treated by colonic resection were studied for the expression of both COX-2 and b-catenin by immunohistochemistry. Their expression was interpreted in relation to adjacent normal colonic mucosa and analyzed in correlation with various clinicopathologic parameters and patient’s survival after a follow up period of 24 months. Results: Our results showed that in normal adjacent colonic mucosa, COX-2 was completely absent, whereas b-catenin was specifically located in the plasma membranes. Both proteins were expressed in tumorous tissues, COX-2 showed diffuse cytoplasmic positivity, whereas b-catenin accumulated in both the cytoplasm and nuclei. We established statistically significant relationships between pathological grade and both b-catenin, and COX-2 positivity scores, being at the higher end for poorly-differentiated tumors. b-Catenin expression also correlated significantly with higher tumor stage and LN metastasis. Both COX-2 and b-catenin expression correlated with a higher incidence of shorter disease free survival. Conclusion: Both b-catenin and COX-2 expression may play an important role in the evolution of colon carcinogenesis. Increased expression of both could be used as a marker of tumor progression and poor prognosis. This might be of therapeutic value for allocating patients with colorectal carcinoma to different treatment modalities.Keywords: b-Catenin COX-2 Colorectal carcinoma Immunohistochemistry Prognosi

Electrochemical treatment of Poultry Slaughterhouse Wastewater using Iron and Aluminium Electrodes

Electrochemical process for the treatment of poultry slaughterhouse wastewater (PSWW) was studied. The effects of some key factors such as initial pH, current density, operating time and the kind of electrodes on the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), oil and grease, total suspended solids (TSS), total kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) and total phosphors (TP) were investigated. It is clear that the process has a good efficiency. The highest removal amount of COD (95.6) was achieved with aluminium electrode (pH value between 2 and 3 and charge passed 20.34x10(3) colons (current density 0.014 A cm(-2)). 95.3 of oil and grease was removed in the same conditions, of course, in the case of iron electrode. The maximum removal efficiency for TKN and TP were 77.8 and 89.6 respectively (pH 3, charge passed 30.51x10(3) colons and with aluminium). Consequently electrocoagulation is comparatively suitable process for PSWW treatment
