Heat of Fusion of Na3AlF6 Eutectic Mixtures with CaF2 and Al2O3

    Get PDF
The heat of fusion of eutectic mixtures of sodium cryolite with alumina and calcium fluoride was measured using differential scanning calorimetry. Melting temperatures were found to be in good agreement with literature data. The molar heat of fusion of cryolite salts and eutectic mixtures was found to be directly dependent on melting temperature. The temperature dependence coefficient is the same as that of alkali halides

The article describes in detail alumina powder synthesis by different methods at varying parameters. The technique of obtaining ceramics and the research of the optical properties for determining the materials with the maximum luminescence efficiency is presented. The concentration of the luminescence intrinsic centers and various defects differ for ceramics synthesized by different methods. It is determined that ceramics based on the powder synthesized by a sol-gel method has the maximum thermoluminescence intensity in the F-center peak, whereas for the peak of 360 °C it is obtained with the powder prepared by precipitation of aluminum nitrate with a PEG‑20000 stabilizer

According to the data of recent studies, the topical formulations of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used in rheumatic diseases are of the greatest importance in the treatment of osteoarthrosis. Comparative studies have demonstrated that ketoprofen-containing gel has some advantage over other NSAIDs. Topical formulations based on ketoprofen (Fastum® gel) are effective, fast-acting, and able to aid patients in relieving pain and improving the quality of life.

The paper discusses a role of a diet and therapy with the herbal complex Urisan in patients with gout. It is noted that the agent based on herbal components may be used in addition to drug therapy and diet in seasonal hyperuricuria, hyperuricemia observed after heavy strenuous and athletic activity, meat overeating, and alcohol abuse. Urisan may be recommended in subsiding gouty inflammation as a bridge to the use of allopurinol.

Variability in the relative quantity of human DNA resulted from metagenomic analysis of gut microbiota

We conducted the comparative study of seven different methods of total DNA extraction from human feces. All these methods are recommended in protocols for metagenomic analysis of human gut microbiota. We studied the relative quantity of human DNA calculated from shotgun sequencing on a SOLiD 4 genetic analyzer of metagenomic samples. It was shown that either initial amount of feces or a method applied for total DNA extraction do not affect on final relative human DNA abundance, which is less than 1% in healthy people. Invariance of this parameter allows to consider increased abundance of human DNA in metagenomic samples as a potential marker of inflammatory bowel diseases. | Abstract available from the publisher

Sol-gel synthesis and determination of optimal sintering conditions of the Li6.75La3Zr1.75Nb0.25O12 solid electrolyte

Solid electrolytes are widely used in electrochemical devices. Among these materials, electrolytes with the lithium-ion conductivity can be used in high-energy lithium and lithium-ion power sources. The perspective Li6.75La3Zr1.75Nb0.25O12 solid electrolyte was synthesized by modified sol-gel synthesis method using the sparingly soluble Nb2O5 as one of the initial compounds. The influence of pressure and final sintering temperature on phase composition, density and lithium-ion conductivity was studied. Solid electrolyte obtained at 1150°C was single phase and had a cubic structure with the space group Ia-3d. Thus in the presented work, the cubic modification of Li6.75La3Zr1.75Nb0.25O12 was obtained by thermal treatment for 1 h at 1150°C (versus 36 h at 1200°C in the literature). Moreover at this temperature the samples had the highest density and total lithium-ion conductivity (3.9•10-5 Scm-1 at 25°C). According to the SEM study ceramic samples have a dense structure with a particle size ∼1-3 μm. Solid electrolyte was also obtained by isostatic pressing at a pressure of 500 MPa but the values of density and total lithium-ion conductivity were comparable with that of the samples compressed statically. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.Council on grants of the President of the Russian Federation: MK-1382.2019.3The reported study was funded by the grant of the President of the Russian Federation according to the research project No MK-1382.2019.3. Effect of Li2O–Al2O3–GeO2–P2O5 glass crystallization on stability versus molten lithium

Glass and glass-ceramic NASICON-type electrolytes of Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 composition were obtained by melt quenching and glass crystallization, respectively. The stability of the solid electrolytes to molten metallic Li was studied by immersing the samples and holding them at 230 °C for 72 h. Li|glass|Li and Li|glass-ceramics|Li electrochemical cells were assembled and their resistance was measured by impedance spectroscopy at 200 °C for 9 days. It was established that, unlike the glass, the glass-ceramics did not change in its phase composition and molecular structure after the tests. It is shown that Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 glass-ceramics is chemically stable in contact with metallic Li. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.Russian Science Foundation, RSF: 18-73-00099The reported study was funded by the Russian Science Foundation according to the research project No. 18-73-00099 . Objective: to determine treatment policy for an acute surgical disease in patients with late-stage HIV infection diagnosed using the data of the highly informative imaging techniques multislice computed tomography (MSCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Material and methods. In 2008 and 2016, the authors examined 425 patients (320 men and 105 women) with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) who were treated at the surgical units of the Surgut Regional Clinical Hospital, by using the data of MSCT (Toshiba Aquilion 64, Japan) and MRI (Siemens 1,5T Magnetom Essenza, Germany) in identifying both local surgical and general mixed diseases.Results. Analysis of acute surgical diseases of the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space in patients with late-stage HIV infection determined that the treatment policy in this category of patients depended on clinical diagnostic data.Conclusions. 1. MSCT and MRI are highly informative techniques in diagnosing acute surgical diseases in patients with late-stage HIV infection. 2. The course of an acute surgical disease in patients with late-stage HIV infection in the presence of generalized opportunistic infection makes it preferable to perform minimally invasive surgical interventions
