    Random point field approach to analysis of anisotropic Bose-Einstein condensations

    Position distributions of constituent particles of the perfect Bose-gas trapped in exponentially and polynomially anisotropic boxes are investigated by means of the boson random point fields (processes) and by the spatial random distribution of particle density. Our results include the case of \textit{generalised} Bose-Einstein Condensation. For exponentially anisotropic quasi two-dimensional system (SLAB), we obtain \textit{three} qualitatively different particle density distributions. They correspond to the \textit{normal} phase, the quasi-condensate phase (type III generalised condensation) and to the phase when the type III and the type I Bose condensations co-exist. An interesting feature is manifested by the type II generalised condensation in one-directional polynomially anisotropic system (BEAM). In this case the particle density distribution rests truly random even in the \textit{macroscopic} scaling limit

    Anomalous Transport through the p-Wave Superconducting Channel in the 3-K Phase of Sr2RuO4

    Using micro fabrication techniques, we extracted individual channels of 3-Kelvin (3-K) phase superconductivity in Sr2RuO4-Ru eutectic systems and confirmed odd-parity superconductivity in the 3-K phase, similar to pure Sr2RuO4. Unusual hysteresis in the differential resistance-current and voltage-current characteristics observed below 2 K indicates the internal degrees of freedom of the superconducting state. A possible origin of the hysteresis is current-induced chiral-domain-wall motion due to the chiral p-wave state.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. Let

    Inverse Spin Hall Effect Driven by Spin Motive Force

    The spin Hall effect is a phenomenon that an electric field induces a spin Hall current. In this Letter, we examine the inverse effect that, in a ferromagnetic conductor, a charge Hall current is induced by a spin motive force, or a spin-dependent effective ` electric' field Es{\bm E}_{\rm s}, arising from the time variation of magnetization texture. By considering skew-scattering and side-jump processes due to spin-orbit interaction at impurities, we obtain the Hall current density as σSHn×Es\sigma_{\rm SH} {\bm n}\times{\bm E}_{\rm s}, where n{\bm n} is the local spin direction and σSH\sigma_{\rm SH} is the spin Hall conductivity. The Hall angle due to the spin motive force is enhanced by a factor of P2P^{2} compared to the conventional anomalous Hall effect due to the ordinary electric field, where PP is the spin polarization of the current.     The hypothesis that shipments of oranges into Japan have displaced, and will continue to displace, domestic Mandarin orange shipments in Japan was tested using annual and monthly data and by estimating an econometric model. It was found that the marketing seasons of Mandarin and imported oranges are substantially different. This result, along with econometric estimates, indicated that Mandarin and imported oranges do not directly compete with each other, and supported rejection of the hypothesis that imported oranges have displaced Mandarin orange shipments. It was projected that, under full trade liberalization, orange imports would increase by 115 percent.     Articulatory features for speech-driven head motion synthesis

    This study investigates the use of articulatory features for speech-driven head motion synthesis as opposed to prosody features such as F0 and energy that have been mainly used in the literature. In the proposed approach, multi-stream HMMs are trained jointly on the synchronous streams of speech and head motion data. Articulatory features can be regarded as an intermediate parametrisation of speech that are expected to have a close link with head movement. Measured head and articulatory movements acquired by EMA were synchronously recorded with speech. Measured articulatory data was compared to those predicted from speech using an HMM-based inversion mapping system trained in a semi-supervised fashion. Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) on a data set of free speech of 12 people shows that the articulatory features are more correlated with head rotation than prosodic and/or cepstral speech features. It is also shown that the synthesised head motion using articulatory features gave higher correlations with the original head motion than when only prosodic features are used.     Choreographic Three Bodies on the Lemniscate

    We show that choreographic three bodies {x(t), x(t+T/3), x(t-T/3)} of period T on the lemniscate, x(t) = (x-hat+y-hat cn(t))sn(t)/(1+cn^2(t)) parameterized by the Jacobi's elliptic functions sn and cn with modulus k^2 = (2+sqrt{3})/4, conserve the center of mass and the angular momentum, where x-hat and y-hat are the orthogonal unit vectors defining the plane of the motion. They also conserve the moment of inertia, the kinetic energy, the sum of square of the curvature, the product of distance and the sum of square of distance between bodies. We find that they satisfy the equation of motion under the potential energy sum_{i<j}(1/2 ln r_{ij} -sqrt{3}/24 r_{ij}^2) or sum_{i<j}1/2 ln r_{ij} -sum_{i}sqrt{3}/8 r_{i}^2, where r_{ij} the distance between the body i and j, and r_{i} the distance from the origin. The first term of the potential energies is the Newton's gravity in two dimensions but the second term is the mutual repulsive force or a repulsive force from the origin, respectively.     Classification of Cohomogeneity One Strings

    We define the cohomogeneity one string, string with continuous symmetries, as its world surface is tangent to a Killing vector field of a target space. We classify the Killing vector fields by an equivalence relation using isometries of the target space. We find that the equivalence classes of Killing vectors in Minkowski spacetime are partitioned into seven families. It is clarified that there exist seven types of strings with spacelike symmetries and four types of strings with timelike symmetries, stationary strings.Comment: 8 page
