Modification and simulation of the power supply of a metal vapor laser
The modification of a power supply circuit used for pumping metal vapor lasers is analyzed. The results of OrCAD simulation of the processes that occur in the power supply are presented. The effect of the capacitance ratio on the charging process of a storage capacitor is described. The mode which provides more time for the recovery of the thyratron is discussed. The results of the development of the small-size high pulse repetition frequency laser with up to 3 W average output power are presented
Punctuation and its functions in Russian educational slide presentations
This paper focuses on the up-to-date issues of graphic text organization of Russian presentation slides of university lectures in different subjects. The serialization, delineation and stylization functions of punctuation and suprasegmental (typographic) devices specifying the linguistic βuniquenessβ of the particular genre/register of the scientific discourse are considered. The specific nature of the use of these devices compared to that of the presentations in English consistent with the preliminary analysis of the communicative intents of the lecturer and the target audience is discussed

Modeling of a single-cycle current generator while forming a quasi-sinusoidal current
The paper presents the results of investigation of the influence of the output voltage magnitude on the operating frequency of the switch in the single-cycle quasi-sinusoidal current generator circuit. Analytical expressions for calculating the time parameters for transients in the circuit under given assumptions have been obtained. The results presented in the paper can be used in the design of converters of this type

Radial distribution of a single-pass amplified radiation in the active elements of CuBr lasers
The paper presents the results of study of single-pass amplified radiation distribution of copper bromide vapor laser active elements used in high-speed laser monitors. The possibility of modifying the profile of a single-pass amplified light beam by changing the copper bromide vapor concentration is demonstrated. This means of influence on the radiation profile seems to be easiest due to implementation by varying only one parameter of operation. Gaussian, ring-shaped or flat profiles can be achieved depending on the temperature of the containers with copper bromide. The diameter of the beam becomes narrower when increasing the concentration of copper bromide vapor. This feature is characteristic of the discharge tubes as small (diameter 2.5, length 5 cm) and large (diameter 5 cm, length 90 cm) active volume

Differential sensitivity of membrane-associated pyrophosphatases to inhibition by diphosphonates and fluoride delineates two classes of enzyme
Abstract1,1-Diphosphonate analogs of pyrophosphate, containing an amino or a hydroxyl group on the bridge carbon atom, are potent inhibitors of the H+-translocating pyrophosphatases of chromatophores prepared from the bacterium Rhodospirillum rubrum and vacuolar membrane vesicles prepared from the plant Vigna radiata. The inhibition constant for aminomethylenediphosphonate, which binds competitively with respect to substrate, is below 2 ΞΌM. Rat liver mitochondrial pyrophosphatase is two orders of magnitude less sensitive to this compound but extremely sensitive to imidodiphosphate. By contrast, fluoride is highly effective only against the mitochondrial pyrophosphatase. It is concluded that the mitochondrial pyrophosphatase and the H+-pyrophosphatases of chromatophores and vacuolar membranes belong to two different classes of enzyme
