Local correlations in the 1D Bose gas from a scaling limit of the XXZ chain
We consider the K-body local correlations in the (repulsive) 1D Bose gas for
general K, both at finite size and in the thermodynamic limit. Concerning the
latter we develop a multiple integral formula which applies for arbitrary
states of the system with a smooth distribution of Bethe roots, including the
ground state and finite temperature Gibbs-states. In the cases K<=4 we perform
the explicit factorization of the multiple integral. In the case of K=3 we
obtain the recent result of Kormos et.al., whereas our formula for K=4 is new.
Numerical results are presented as well.Comment: 23 pages, 2 figures, v2: minor modifications and references adde
Travelling with a Stoma: A literature Review
This document is the Accepted Manuscript version of a Published Work that appeared in final form in Gastrointestinal Nursing, copyright © MA Healthcare, after peer review and technical editing by the publisher. To access the final edited and published work see http://www.magonlinelibrary.com/toc/gasn/currentGiven the daily challenges that unfamiliar environments, food and culture bring, many ostomates find the prospect of travelling with a stoma stressful. Yet with good advice, international travel can be enjoyed, whether experienced for leisure or work purposes. To practice safely, nurses require knowledge of research evidence, combined with a wealth of practical knowledge, derived from patient experience. This article examines how these types of knowledge can be brought together to ensure that people with a stoma are able to anticipate travel in a more positive way.Peer reviewedFinal Accepted Versio

Constrained pre-equalization accounting for multi-path fading emulated using large RC networks: applications to wireless and photonics communications
Multi-path propagation is modelled assuming a multi-layer RC network with randomly allocated resistors and capacitors to represent the transmission medium. Due to frequency-selective attenuation, the waveforms associated with each propagation path incur path-dependent distortion. A pre-equalization procedure that takes into account the capabilities of the transmission source as well as the transmission properties of the medium is developed. The problem is cast within a Mixed Integer Linear Programming optimization framework that uses the developed nominal RC network model, with the excitation waveform customized to optimize signal fidelity from the transmitter to the receiver. The objective is to match a Gaussian pulse input accounting for frequency regions where there would be pronounced fading. Simulations are carried out with different network realizations in order to evaluate the sensitivity of the solution with respect to changes in the transmission medium mimicking the multi-path propagation. The proposed approach is of relevance where equalization techniques are difficult to implement. Applications are discussed within the context of emergent communication modalities across the EM spectrum such as light percolation as well as emergent indoor communications assuming various modulation protocols or UWB schemes as well as within the context of space division multiplexing
My Employer’s Prestige, My Prestige
Employer branding is an essential component that attracts potential candidates to companies. Social media, particularly employer rating platforms, provide many opportunities to present a company’s employer brand. Individuals use these platforms to collect information and evaluations about potential employers and companies could utilise these platforms to present themselves favourably. Based on social capital theory, this study examined the variables of support and benefit as reasons why
individuals share information about their employers on employer rating platforms. The influence of demographic factors on the use of these platforms was also investigated. Data was collected from 309 respondents via an online survey, and analysed using
the t-test, Spearman’s correlation, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the least significant difference (LSD) method. Only descriptive statistics, distribution of responses, and statistically significant results are presented
