Nuclear fusion in charge-asymmetric muonic molecules

    No full text
Nuclear fusion reactions in hydrogen-lithium muonic molecules, hμ6,7Lih\mu^{6,7}{\rm Li} (where h=p,d,t) are considered and fusion rates from rotational states J=0 of the molecules are presented. Results obtained depend on the isotopic composition of the molecules and range between 103s110^3 {\rm s}^{-1} and 107s110^7 {\rm s}^{-1}. The upper limit for fusion rates from rotational states J=0 of hydrogen-helium muonic molecules, dμ3,4Hed\mu^{3,4} {\rm He} and tμ3,4Het\mu^{3,4}{\rm He}, equal 106s110^6 {\rm s}^{-1}, is also found

Muon Transfer in Hydrogen Isotopic Mixtures

    No full text
Direct and inverse muon transfer between atomic orbits of muonic hydrogen isotopes is considered in the WKB approximation. The corresponding cross sections, calculated as functions of collision energy, are different above the thresholds for the inverse transfer and approach common limits depending on the principal quantum number and hydrogen isotopes. The comparison of results obtained by integration over impact parameter and by summation over angular momentum is also presented

The paper presents the issues concerning the modeling and calculation of the multilayer wound composite structures of tubular shapes. The starting point was to design and prepare two types of composite samples based on glass and carbon filaments. When it was done, the group performed a microscopic analysis of their cross sections in order to determine the volume content of the fibers in the matrix. The mechanical properties were obtained by means of a homogenization method. In the next step, distributions of radial and circumferential stress in the tubular multilayer structures were determined according to the developed computational model

This study was aimed at determining the effect of housing systems on the growth, feed conversion ratio (FCR), meatiness and size of muscle fibres of Pekin (P44) and Muscovy (MR71) ducks. Each genetic group included 360 birds (180 males and 180 females). The ducks were divided into four experimental groups according to their sex and housing system: intensive system (IS) and outdoor system (OS). A significant effect of housing system on the final body weight and FCR value was noted only in P44 birds of both sexes, with OS birds having higher body weights than the IS birds. As a result, the OS MR71 drakes were characterized by a significantly higher slaughter yield, weight and content of breast muscles in the carcass. The OS MR71 ducks showed a lower slaughter yield and a higher content of leg muscles in the carcass compared to IS MR71 ducks. In contrast, the housing system had no significant effect on the meatiness of P44 ducks. A greater diameter of muscle fibres in both sexes of P44 ducks and in both sexes of MR71 ducks was observed in the OS compared to IS flocks. A greater cross section of muscle fibres was also noted in the ducks from the OS system, however with significant differences confirmed only in pectoralis superficialis and biceps femoris in MR71 drakes as well as in the biceps femoris of P44 drakes. These data show differences between duck genotypes and indicate the efficiency and potential of outdoor poultry systems. Keywords: Poultry production; outdoor system; intensive system; Pekin; Muscov
