Reproductive biology, spawning season, and growth of female rex sole (Glyptocephalus zachirus) in the Gulf of Alaska
Rex sole (Glyptocephalus zachirus) have a wide distribution throughout the North Pacific, ranging from central Baja California to the western Bering Sea. Although rex sole are an important species in the commercial trawl fisheries off the U.S. West Coast, knowledge of their reproductive biology is limited to one study off the Oregon coast where ovaries were analyzed with gross anatomical methods. This study was initiated to determine reproductive and growth parameters specific to rex sole in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) stock. Female rex sole (n=594) ranging in total length from 166 to 552 mm were collected opportunistically around Kodiak Island, Alaska, from February 2000 to October 2001. All ovaries were analyzed by using standard histological criteria to determine the maturity stage. Year-round sampling of rex sole ovaries confirmed that rex sole are batch spawners and have a protracted spawning season in the GOA that lasts at least eight months, from October to May; the duration of the spawning season and the months of spawning activity are different from those previously estimated. Female rex sole in the GOA had an estimated length at 50% maturity (ML50) of 352 mm, which is greater than the previously estimated ML50 at southern latitudes. The maximum age of collected female rex sole was 29 years, and the estimated age at 50% maturity (MA50) in the GOA was 5.1 years. The von Bertalanffy growth model for rex sole in the GOA was significantly different from the previously estimated model for rex sole off the Oregon coast. This study indicated that there are higher growth rates for rex sole in the GOA than off the Oregon coast and that there are differences in length at maturity and similarity in age at maturity between the two regions
Exploring the Feasibility of Incorporating Sexual Education into Routine Adolescent Office Visits
Preventative sexual education can reduce the negative health outcomes of sexual behavior in adolescent populations.1 The objective of this pilot study was to determine if sexual education can be delivered as a scripted five-minute module during a routine adolescent office visit in a manner that is non-disruptive of clinic flow and acceptable to both patients and providers.
• 85% of providers reported the intervention did not interrupt clinic flow
• 86% of patients reported the intervention to be appropriate and 92% of providers were satisfied overall with the intervention
These pilot data highlight that the incorporation of brief scripted sexual education into routine adolescent preventative office visits is both feasible and acceptable to patients and providers.https://jdc.jefferson.edu/cwicposters/1024/thumbnail.jp

Pengaruh Susceptibility To Global Consumer Culture (Sgcc) terhadap Minat Beli Konsumen (Survei pada Mahasiswi Universitas Brawijaya Angkatan 2013)
This research is intended to know and explain the influence of Susceptibility to Global Consumer Culture (SGCC) variables, that consist of conformity to social norms, quality perception, social prestige, and internet technology readiness toward consumer purchase intention on global brands cosmetic. The research was conducted based on quantitative research with used explanatory method. Population of this research were female student of Brawijaya University class of 2013. Proportional random sampling was used as a sampling method with total of 100 female students were collected. Data was collected through questionnaire which validity and reliability have been verified. Multiple linear regression was used as analysis technique. The result showed that, they had positive influence of SGCC variables toward purchase intention with the for each variable were greater than (1.985) and the significance value for each variable were smaller than 0.05. The four SGCC variables simultaneously affect the purchase intention, which the (51.408 > 2.467). Therefore, this research can help researchers to understand more about a specific consumer segment‘s motivation in buying global brands cosmetic. So, the SGCC scale can help firms identify how a global brands cosmetic be positioned along with those variables
Potensi, Pencapaian Pengumpulan Zakat Dan Permasalahannya Di Kabupaten Banyumas Dan Purbalingga
The purpose of this study was to: 1) Exploring the potential magnitude of zakat in Banyumas and Purbalingga; 2) Identify the payer profile ZISWA 3) Inventory problems that arise in OPZ marketing . The results of this study indicate that the potential of zakat in Banyumas district until 2012 to reach Rp 104 430, 38 990 million up to Rp. 224 525, 3382 million. Potential zakat in Purbalingga reach Rp 56.913.2666 million to Rp 122,363.5232 million. This study also shows that the achievement of the collection of zakat through OPZ is still very small compared to its potential, 0.2 to 1.37% with an average of 0.65% for Banyumas and 0.96 to 1.22 percent with a mean average 1.61 percent to Purbalingga. Muzakki generally Muslims who live in the region of OPZ, 46.7% were in the age group between 31-40 years, 60% male and 93% have some college education, 63.3% have an income between 2-5 million. They are most abundant (36.7%) worked as a civil servant, private sector employees and employers respectively of 23.3 percent. Some of the constraints faced by OPZ is public awareness in how to calculate and distribute funds through OPZ ; limited budget for the operational management of ZISWA, the shortage of human resources and competence to OPZ, dualism centralized leadership and organizational management systems, the lack of commitment to the existence of the agency board. In general OPZ yet fully run relationship marketing in increasing the amount of fundraising ZISWA. OPZ not give sufficient attention to the long time contributors. OPZ not pay attention to the level of satisfaction with the services OPZ contributor, does not have a profile database of contributors. OPZ less involved in the management of long contributor ZISWA. Few donors are willing to participate actively in the management ZISWA in OPZ. Some implications are given in this study

However, there is little information on the pattern of CD4 (Th1) and CD8 (Tc1) T-cell response to AFP in patients with HCC and their association with the clinical characteristics of patients.
Methods: We therefore analysed CD4 and CD8 T-cell responses to a panel of AFP-derived peptides in a total of 31 HCC patients and 14 controls, using an intracellular cytokine assay for IFN-γ.
Results: Anti-AFP Tc1 responses were detected in 28.5% of controls, as well as in 25% of HCC patients with Okuda I (early tumour stage) and in 31.6% of HCC patients with stage II or III (late tumour stages). An anti-AFP Th1 response was detected only in HCC patients (58.3% with Okuda stage I tumours and 15.8% with Okuda stage II or III tumours). Anti-AFP Th1 response was mainly detected in HCC patients who had normal or mildly elevated serum AFP concentrations (P=0.00188), whereas there was no significant difference between serum AFP concentrations in these patients and the presence of an anti-AFP Tc1 response. A Th1 response was detected in 44% of HCC patients with a Child–Pugh A score (early stage of cirrhosis), whereas this was detected in only 15% with a B or C score (late-stage cirrhosis). In contrast, a Tc1 response was detected in 17% of HCC patients with a Child–Pugh A score and in 46% with a B or C score.
Conclusion: These results suggest that anti-AFP Th1 responses are more likely to be present in patients who are in an early stage of disease (for both tumour stage and liver cirrhosis), whereas anti-AFP Tc1 responses are more likely to be present in patients with late-stage liver cirrhosis. Therefore, these data provide valuable information for the design of vaccination strategies against HCC.Association for International Cancer Research and Polkemmet Fund, London

A nearsurface, daytime occurrence of two mesopelagic fish species (Stenobrachius leucopsarus and Leuroglossus schmidti) in a glacial fjord
The northern lampfish (Stenobrachius leucopsarus, family Myctophidae) and northern smoothtongue (Leuroglossus schmidti, family Bathylagidae) are mesopelagic fishes, defined by their vertical distribution in the mesopelagic zone (200–1000 m) during daylight hours. Northern lampfish range from the Bering Sea to southern California (Shimada, 1948), where their abundance is highest along the continental slope and decreases over the continental shelf. They are the most abundant species in the mesopelagic zone of the Bering Sea (Pearcy et al., 1977; Sobolevsky et al., 1996), the Gulf of Alaska (Purcell, 1996), and the eastern North Pacific Ocean off Oregon (Pearcy, 1964; Pearcy et al., 1977). Northern smoothtongue also concentrate in areas bordering the continental slope and are widely distributed from southern British Columbia to the Bering Sea (Peden, 1981) and are very abundant in the Okhotsk Sea (Sobolevsky et al., 1996)
