A case is reported in which docetaxel was used to treat a patient with hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer. The treatment was terminated at the third course of docetaxel following the development of hemorrhagic cystitis. This reaction was unexpected, as it is not a known reaction to docetaxel. Hemorrhagic cystitis has been associated with cyclophosphamide, where the metabolite acrolein has been implicated. The mechanism of this reaction from docetaxel is not yet known

A survey of incentive development in agroforestry establishments in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State was conducted. Villages around Forest Reserve Areas were randomly selected namely; Igbogila – Ayetoro, Imala – Ayetoro, Idafo, Ajoda – Ayetoro, Ibese – Igbogila and Oke Akanni. A well structured eighty (80) questionnaires was administered to a total of eighty (80) farmers in the area. The number of respondents in Igbogila – Ayetoro, Imala – Ayetoro, Idafo, Ajoda – Ayetoro, Ibese – Igbogila and Oke Akanni were 10, 14, 7, 17 and 13 respectively based on the population of each village. In all, 61 respondents were available to give information on kinds of incentive received, sources of incentives, mode of land acquisition, its benefit of incentives, problem encountered and many others. Descriptive analysis was used to analyse the data. The result shows that 70.4% of men were engaged in agroforestry practices with little or no education. Majority of the farmers in the area are between the ages of 30 – 41 years which is the productive age. They engage in the agroforestry system in order to cater for their families. The sources of incentives provided for the farmers were majorly from the local government (52.46%) and cooperatives (19.6) 50.82% of fertilizer and seedlings as well as 18.03% of financial assistance are given to farmers by the local government .These incentives give the farmers job opportunity (32.79%), income (39.34%), and food (26.23%) among others. It is therefore recommended that incentives in the area of inputs should be used to support the establishment of Agroforestry system so as to boost food production and wood supply across the country.Key words: Incentives, agroforestry, forest reserve, food production, wood suppl

Aims: Selection of suitable soil amendment is a very crucial attempt for improving seedling production and growth of Massularia acuminata as a forest nursery plants on a sustainable basis can be enhanced over a given period of time. Study Design: Comparative effects of different organic manures on the seedlings growth of Massularia acuminate. Place and Duration of Study: Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, between February, 2019 and August 2019. Methodology: Various concentrations of different types of organic manures; poultry manure, cow dung and horse dung were mixed with the topsoil separately to raise the seedlings of Massularia acuminata, comparative seedlings height growth, the stem diameter growth and the number of leaves per seedlings were examined to determine the development of the seedlings. Results: The results revealed that, organic manure application generally enhanced the growth of the seedlings, improved seedlings height, number of leaves and collar diameter. Also, with increasing rate of application of organic manures from 0 g to 50 g per seedlings, all seedlings growth parameters were improved. 10 g and 30 g manure had significant effects on plant growth with seedlings height 15.29 cm and 15.10 cm, number of leaves per seedlings (19.80 and 19.43) and collar diameter (6.58 mm and 6.57 mm) with Q2 and Q3 respectively as compared with the control (5.18 mm). Highest seedling growth was observed in poultry application with seedlings height 14.42 cm, number of leaves (19.63) and collar diameter (6.31 mm). Conclusion: The use of poultry manure and cattle dung at increased concentrations of 10 g and  30 g are recommended to be beneficial for sustainable healthy seedling production

AimTo evaluate the effectiveness of external beam irradiation in bone pain secondary to metastases; with emphasis on the onset of symptoms relief, the duration of response and relate onset of pain relief to age in = 40 years and = 40years patients.                                                        SettingAhmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, Nigeria.ResultBreast cancer is the commonest cause of metastatic bone pain from solid tumours in Zaria, Nigeria. Females were more commonly affected. Two out of every 5 patients were less than 40 years old. Eighty-six percent of the patients obtained significant pain relief in the first week of treatment. At 12 weeks, the mean pain score and analgesic scores were 0.67 and 0.16 respectively.ConclusionExternal beam irradiation is an effective treatment modality in an African population with metastatic bone pain.Key Words: Bone, metastasis, radiotherapy, pain, contro
