Near-threshold production of omega mesons in the pn -> d omega reaction

The first measurement of the p n -> d omega total cross section has been achieved at mean excess energies of Q = 28 and 57 MeV by using a deuterium cluster-jet target. The momentum of the fast deuteron was measured in the ANKE spectrometer at COSY-Juelich and that of the slow "spectator" proton p(sp) from the p d -> p(sp) d omega reaction in a silicon telescope placed close to the target. Anomalous dimensions at twist-3 in the sl(2) sector of N=4 SYM

We consider twist-3 operators in the sl(2) sector of N=4 SYM built out of three scalar fields with derivatives. We extract from the Bethe Ansatz equations of this sector the exact lowest anomalous dimension gamma(s) of scaling fields for several values of the operator spin s. We propose compact closed expressions for the spin dependence of gamma(s) up to the four loop level and show that they obey a simple new twist-3 transcendentality principle. As a check, we reproduce the four loop universal cusp anomalous dimension governing the logarithmic large spin limit of gamma(s).Comment: 26 pages, JHEP styl

Transverse Momentum Distributions for Heavy Quark Pairs

We study the transverse momentum distribution for a $pair$ of heavy quarks produced in hadron-hadron interactions. Predictions for the large transverse momentum region are based on exact order $\alpha_s^3$ QCD perturbation theory. For the small transverse momentum region, we use techniques for all orders resummation of leading logarithmic contributions associated with initial state soft gluon radiation. The combination provides the transverse momentum distribution of heavy quark pairs for all transverse momenta. Explicit results are presented for $b\bar b$ pair production at the Fermilab Tevatron collider and for $c\bar c$ pair production at fixed target energies.Comment: LaTeX (27 pages text, 8 figures not included, but available on request
