Verification of ZVS boost converter with resonant circuit & modelling of an accurate two-diode PV array system simulator using MATLAB simulink
This thesis proposes a MATLAB Simulink simulator for Photo Voltaic (PV) Array system. The main contribution is the utilisation of a Two-Diode model to represent a PV cell. This model is preferred because of its better accuracy at low irradiance levels. A PV of Kyocera (KC200GT) 50*10 Array is taken & the characteristics curves are plotted. The same simulator can be interfaced with MPPT algorithms & Power Electronics converters for better efficiency. The P-V & I-V Curves of this simulator is found in exact with that given by the manufacturers. It is expected that the proposed work can be very useful for PV professionals who require a simple, fast & accurate PV simulator in order to design their systems. A detailed analysis of a resonant circuit based soft-switching boost-converter for PV applications is also performed. The converter operates at Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) turn-on and turn-off of the main switch, & Zero Current Switching (ZCS) turn-on and ZVS turn-off of the auxiliary switch due to resonant circuit incorporated into the circuit. Detailed operation of the converters, analysis of various modes, simulation as well as experimental results for the design has also been aptly presented. The systems are modelled & simulated in MATLAB 2013a 64-bit version and the output waveforms are shown
Traditional processing associated changes in chemical parameters of wild Yam (Dioscorea) tubers from Koraput, Odisha, India
268-276Wild yam tuber considered as famine food and played a prime role in the food habit of tribal people of Koraput district of Odisha, India. The tribal people employed a range of processing of these yams such as boiled, soaked and sun dried for detoxification of antinutrients in accordance with their needs. There is a scarcity of documented information on their nutrient composition/retention by traditional processing methods. The current study assessed the traditional processing (boiled, soaked and sun dried) associated changes in chemical composition and physico-functional characteristics of 6 wild and 1 cultivated Dioscorea tubers collected from Koraput, India. Different processing led to a significant reduction of proximate compositions and nutrient content compared to the raw tuber, whereas physico-functional parameters increased significantly (pDioscorea tubers as safe food sources for mass consumption and should be used in boiling form, as it retains higher nutrients coupled with significant removal of antinutritional compositions

A comparative study between plating versus titanium elastic nail system in mid-shaft clavicle fracture management
Background: Clavicle fracture is one of most common bony injuries. Despite of high frequency, choice of proper treatment is still a challenge. So a comparative randomized study was planned to compare Plating verses TENS for clavicle fractures management.Methods: Study was conducted in Department of Orthopedics, M.K.C.G Medical College, Berhampur from November 2015 to October 2017.Patients aged from 20-55 years with closed displaced were included in study. Patients were randomized in two groups- One group (25 pateints) treated with TENS and second group (25) with plate. Outcome assessed by pain VAS score, Constant & Murley score, DASH score, cosmetic result, radiological fracture healing time.Results: Mean fracture union time in TENS group was 11.4±2.12 weeks and in plate group 13.4±3.46 weeks (difference was significant p=0.016). Mean pain VAS score in TENS group was 2.56±0.91 and in plating group 3.12±0.8 (p=0.023). Tens group were cosmetically more satisfied (mean score 4.48±0.7) than plate group (mean score 3.8±1.0, p=0.009). Mean DASH and Constant Shoulder Score in TENS group were 1.87±3.4, 9.36±7.04 and plate group 4.8±9.0 and 15.08±9.4 respectively. Both were significant (p=0.039, p=0.000).Conclusions: Our study found that patients treated with TENS showed excellent outcome in 84% cases while 60% in plating group for displaces mid-shaft clavicle fracture. Plasma lyso-phosphatidylcholine concentration is decreased in cancer patients with weight loss and activated inflammatory status
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>It has been observed that ras-transformed cell lines in culture have a higher phosphatidylcholine (PC) biosynthesis rate as well as higher PC-degradation rate (increased PC-turnover) than normal cells. In correspondence to these findings, the concentrations of the PC-degradation product lyso-phosphatidylcholine (LPC) in cancer patients were found to be decreased. Our objective was the systematic investigation of the relationship between LPC and inflammatory and nutritional parameters in cancer patients. Therefore, plasma LPC concentrations were assessed in 59 cancer patients and related to nutritional and inflammatory parameters. To determine LPC in blood plasma we developed and validated a HPTLC method.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Average plasma LPC concentration was 207 ± 59 μM which corresponds to the lower limit of the reported range in healthy subjects. No correlation between LPC and age, performance status, body mass index (BMI) or fat mass could be seen. However, LPC correlated inversely with plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) and whole blood hydrogen peroxides (HPO). Further, a negative correlation could be observed between LPC and whole body extra cellular fluid volume (ECF) as well as with relative change in body weight since cancer diagnosis.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>In conclusion, LPC concentrations were decreased in cancer patients. LPC plasma concentrations correlated with weight loss and inflammatory parameters and, therefore, might be a general indicator of severity of malignant disease.</p
No spin glass phase in ferromagnetic random-field random-temperature scalar Ginzburg-Landau model
Krzakala, Ricci-Tersenghi and Zdeborova have shown recently that the random
field Ising model with non-negative interactions and arbitrary external
magnetic field on an arbitrary lattice does not have a static spin glass phase.
In this paper we generalize the proof to a soft scalar spin version of the
Ising model: the Ginzburg-Landau model with random magnetic field and random
temperature-parameter. We do so by proving that the spin glass susceptibility
