Numerous factors may influence on the com-position of oral flora. By the studies of previous investigators, they possibly act as a pathogens in odontogenic infections. But there was no description of the organisms which are found in the simple extraction socket immediately after the tooth has been removed. If the valid theories are to be advanced concerning the relationship to postoperative inflammation, knowledge of the early bacterial study is essential. Fifty-patients were chosen for this study who visited Catholic Medical College Hospital, department of dentistry, during the period of March to May 1984 under the diagnosis of pulpitis and periodontitis. They all had been swabbed from saliva. And with local anesthesia, all had been pulled out single tooth. From the extraction socket, swabbing had been done like sampling of saliva. Those samplings were transported to the laboratory as soon as possible and cultured aerobically : anaerobically. The obtained results were as follows; 1. Total cultured strains were 565 strains. The average number of bacteria identified was 11.2 strains per person. 2. Total aerobic strains were identified 355, anaerobes,208 with the average of 7.1 and 4.1 strains per person respectively. 3. Total cultured strains of saliva were 276 strains. Total cultured strains of Extraction socket were 287 strains. Their aerobes and anaerobes were 184,92 strains, and 171,116 strains respectively. 4. In comparison between bacterial species in saliva and extraction socket, moat frequently identified groups were as follows; In saliva aerobic groups were streptococcus viridans 45 strains (24%) Haemophilus patwainfluenzae 33 strains (18%) Branhamella catarrhalis 29 strains (16%) Anaerobic groups were Bacteroides oralis 22 strains (24%) Bactoroides melanioosicus 13 strains (14%) anaerobic streptococci 10 strains (11%) In extraction socket aerobic groups were streptococcus viridans 42 strains (25%) Branhamella catarrhalis 31 strains (18%) Haemophilos p arainfluenzae 26 strains (15%) anaerobic froup were Bacteroides oralis 24 strains (21%) Bactreoides melaninogenicus 23 strains (20%) Fusobactreium nucleatum 11 strains (9%)restrictio

[์˜๋ฌธ] The relationship of nutritional supplements and cancer is receiving renewed attention. Vitamin E(ฮฑ-tocopherol) is accepted one of essential nutrients for man and thought to have antioxidant function and free radical scavenger action and etc. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of vitamin E on the hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis induced by DMBA. 75 syrian golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus), 6 weeks old, were used in this experiment and were divided into normal(5), control โ… , โ…ก(10), experimental group โ… , โ…ก, โ…ข(60). In experimental group and control group, the left buccal pouch of hamster was painted three times a week with 0.5% DMBA in heavy mineral oil and only heavy mineral oil respectively. But in experimental group โ…ก and control group โ…ก, animals received 10 IU of vitamin E twice a week on days alternate to the DMBA painting. In experimental group โ…ข, animals received vitamin E also, but they received 4 weeks before DMBA painting in order to investigate the long term effect of vitamin E. All animals were sacrified serially at 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, and 16th week. Buccal pouches were photographed and excised. Tumors in the left buccal pouches were measured and counted for statistical analysis. Excised tissues were examined light-and eclectromicroscopically. The results were as follows; 1. In experimental group โ…ก, โ…ข received vitamin E, there was a significant delay in tumor formation up to 12 weeks, and that from 12 to 16 weeks, there were fewer tumors and their average size was smaller than group โ… . But there was no difference between group โ…ก and โ…ข. 2. In experimental group โ… , mild dysplasia with hyperkeratosis and acanthosis was observed at 8 weeks, carcinoma-in-situ and dysplasia at 10 weeks, frankly invasive carcinoma at 12 weeks, extensive tumors with invasion and surface necrosis at 14, 16 weeks. 3. In experimental group โ…ก, hyperkeratosis and acanthosis was observed at 8 weeks, carcinoma-in-situ and mild dysplasia at 10 weeks, frankly invasive carcinoma at 12 weeks, invasive carcinoma and carcinoma-in-situ at 14, 16 weeks. 4. In experimental group โ…ข, mild dysplasia and hyperkeratosis was observed at 8 weeks, moderate dysplasia at 10 weeks, carcinoma-in-situ and dysplasia at 12 weeks, invasive carcinoma and carcinoma-in-situ at 14, 16 weeks. 5. Electromicroscopic studies of developed tumors in each group observend moderately differentiated type of epidermoid carcinoma. They showed nuclear pleomorphism, clumping of tonofilaments, less frequent number of desmosomes widened intercellular spaces with microvillus-like structures and degenerated mitochondria. This results suggest that vitamin E has some inhibition effects on carcinogenesis but there was no long term effect of vitamin E.restrictio
