Department of Dental Medicine, The Graduate School, Yonsei University (Directed by Professor Chung Suck Lee, D.D.S.,Ph.D.) The purpose of the study was to suggest the use of laser energy in the the field of operative dentistry without considerable pupal damage and significant effects on the dental hard tissue, additionally fo find out the methods which could control the temperature rise. The laser bean (CW CO^^2 laser, output: 6W, beam diamethe: 1.5mm) was focused on the center of the occlusal surface of extracted lower molars. A Gelens (focal length 200mm) was used to focus the primary laser beam. In order to vary the total amount of the same irradiated energy, experimental subjects were devided into three groups: continuously irradiated group, intermittently irradiated group, and water-cooled group after continuous laser irradiation. Temperature changes in the pulp chamber after laser irradiation were measured and recored by the digital thermometer and recorder. The following results were obtained: 1. Temperatures in the pulp chamber were raised up in the order of the continuously irradiated group, intermittently irradiated group, water-cooled group after continuous laser irradiation. 2. In the continuously irradiated group, the temperature was raised up 1.7℃, , 3.8℃, 7.3℃, 17.2℃, after 2. 4. 8. 16 seconds of the irradiation of laser. [영문] In order to observe the frequency of visits and the distribution of ecdodontically treated parients according to age, sex, diagnosis, type of teeth, the author had surveyed the 17,250 outpatients of the Infirmary of the College Dentistry, Yonsei University from January 1976 to December 1978. 773 cases, 660 patients among 728 endodontically treated patients were studied. The obtained results were as follow; 1. The average frequency of visits were 5.95 in uppers and 5.88 in lowers. 2. The average frequency of visits were 5.79 in males and 6.02 in females. 3. At the age of under 14, the average frequency of visits were 7.42 in uppers and 6.76 in lowers. 4.
