[์˜๋ฌธ]This study was done to investigate differences in importance and satisfaction with medical treatment service for consumers who use medical institutions. Four medical institutions were selected, all of which were secondary or tertiary institution in Wonju city. The period for data collection was September 17 through October 5, 2008. Questionnaires were sent to 280 patients and 240 (82.8%) were returned and were used in the data analysis. Frequency, t-test, F-test and multiple regression with SPSS 12.0K were used to analyze the data. The results of this study are as follows: Analysis of the expected difference for importance and satisfaction showed that importance was rated higher in areas where the consumers related to physicians and that service that were rated high for importance were also high for satisfaction. The expected difference for importance was lowest for nursing, but while importance was high, expected difference for satisfaction with nursing were low. Types with low satisfaction, in which larger items had lower scores for importance resulted in a greater expected difference. In choosing a medical service, importance was not different according personal characteristics, but for admission, importance was higher in choosing a tertiary medical institution as compared to choosing a secondary medical institution. In recommending one hospital over another, medical services were found to be more important when the hospital was not recommended. For reliability of service, no difference was found for personal characteristics or for hospitalization variables. For consumer satisfaction with medical service the findings showed that consumers with lower incomes had higher satisfaction. Consumers who chose secondary medical institutions reported higher satisfaction than those choosing tertiary medical institutions. Consumers who would recommend the hospital where they were treated reported higher satisfaction than those who would not recommend the medical institution. According to personal characteristics, the expected difference was greater for women, younger consumers and those whose education level was higher. From hospitalization related variables, the expected difference for medical services was greater for consumers using tertiary medical institutions compared to those using secondary medical institutions, for patients admitted to a room with more than one other person, and for patients not recommending the hospital that they used. For the category of general medical treatment services, the expected differences were younger patients, women, those using tertiary hospitals. As the sample was small and both secondary and tertiary hospitals were selected, generalization of the results of this research should be done with caution. Further research with a larger sample is recommended. Research in which the variables affecting expected differences in medical services are identified is necessary as well as research to develop strategies to address these variables.prohibitio
