From July 9โ€“13, 2012, we conducted an online survey about teachers attitudes toward the difficulty of the curriculum for Korean language arts (KLA). The results of this survey lead us to make four policy recommendations related to KLA: (1) We need to emphasize basic and essential reading/writing skills. (2) We need to make current Korean language arts curriculum (KLAC) easier especially with regard to grammar and its application, developing ideas for speaking and writing, positioning and reasoning. (3) The writing section in KLAC is currently too difficult. We should adjust the level of 1st-grade curriculum in KLA, especially the writing section, in response to students ability. (4) The Nuri (K-level) and 1st-grade level curriculum should be designed by people coordinating with each other in order to strengthen the connection between Nuri and 1st-grade curricula
