이병철의 일본 모방과 추월에 관한 시론

이 글은 삼성 창업자인 이병철의 용일(用日)에 관한 것이다. 이병철은 삼성의 성장 과정에서 일본을 적극적으로 활용했다. 일본을 통해서 정보와 지식을 얻는 등 배움의 터전으로 활용했다. 더불어 일본은 모방의 대상이었다. 부족한 자본과 기술, 경영방식을 일본과의 제휴를 통해 보완하면서 일본처럼 되려고 노력했다. 1970년대 중반까지 일본에의 의존도가 매우 컸던 것은 이 때문이었다. 그러면서도 이병철은 일본을 극복하려는 의지를 가지고 있었다. 일본을 모방하면서 자본과 기술력이 어느 정도 축적된 1970년대 후반부터 이병철은 기술 및 자본 제휴선을 미국과 유럽 쪽으로 돌렸다. 더불어 이병철은 일본을 추월할 수 있다는 자신감을 가지고 있었다. 하지만 이병철은 생전에 극일을 이루지 못했으며, 아들이자 후계자인 이건희에 와서야 이룰 수 있었다. 한편 이병철의 일본인식은 식민지기를 살았던 대부분의 한국인들처럼 이중적이었던 것으로 추정된다. 그가 남긴 단편적인 기록에 따르면 한편으로는 피해의식을, 또 다른 한편으로는 경외감을 갖고 있었던 것으로 해석된다. 하지만 설령 이병철의 일본인식이 매우 부정적이었다고 해도 이것이 이병철의 용일에 큰 영향을 미치지는 않았을 것으로 짐작된다. 기업경영은 인식보다 실리를 추구하는 경제적 영역이기 때문이다

Strauss on Rousseau: The System of Regression

이 논문의 목적은 레오 스트라우스가 루소에 대해 쓴 두 편의 글 「루소의 의도에 대하여」 그리고 『자연권과 역사』의 「루소」를 방법론의 측면에서 재검토하는 것이다. 스트라우스의 방법은 루소의 사유 전체를 모순과 역설로 구성된 체계로 재구성한다는 점에서 20세기 중반 루소 연구의 조류에 동참한다. 하지만 그의 루소체계화는 근본 모순의 규정, 구성요소의 선별, 의미부여 등에서 동시대 프랑스어권 연구와 구별되는 특성을 가진다. 독자적으로 루소의 체계를 고민했다는 것에서 첫 번째 장점을 가지는 스트라우스의 해석은, 고전주의 문학과 계몽주의 과학의 문제를 루소 해석에 도입했다는 점에서도 혁신적이다. 하지만 스트라우스에게루소의 체계는 퇴행의 체계로 규정된다. 그래서 그의 두 루소 연구의 관계는 철학자의 언어적 퇴행과 철학의 개념적 퇴행으로 이해된다. 이러한 해석은 루소에 대한 낭만주의적 도식을 강화하는 결과를 낳았고, 같은 방법론에서 전혀 다른 결론으로 나아간 프랑스어권 해석들과 함께 20세기 루소 연구의 지정학적 공간을 구성한다.N

The Mathematical Foundation of the General Will and its Pessimism: Masters, Philonenko, Radica on The Social Contract, Book II, Chapter 3

『사회계약론』 2권 3장에서 루소는 일반의지를 모두의 의지와 구별하고 그 계산법을 설명함으로써 일반의지의 실재성과 정당성을 증명하려 한다. 하지만 모호한 수학적 진술이 분석의 난관이다. 우리는 일반의지의 수학적 토대에 대한 세 해석을 소개하고, 이 해석들의 정치적이고 철학적인 함의를 생각해본다. 먼저 상식적 산술 모델로 일반의지의 억압적 형식주의를 고발한 마스터스(Masters)가 있다면, 다음으로 미적분법을 그 토대로 도입하여 형식주의에 최대한의 개념적 힘을 부여하는 필로넝코(Philonenko)가 있고, 끝으로 칸트적 요소를 통해 형식주의의 엄격함을 누그러뜨리고 둘을 화해시키는 라디카(Radica)가 있다. 하지만 연대기적으로 일종의 변증법을 구성하는 이 해석들은 개념적으로는 해소될 수 없는 역사철학적 대립을 간직한다. 그것은 계몽주의를 지탱했고 여전히 일반의지에 대한 회고적 관점을 지배하는 낙관주의와, 필로넝코로 하여금 일반의지의 진정한 정치철학적 효과를 발견하게 함으로써 이것이 어떻게 하나의 세기를 끝내고 새로운 세기를 열었는지 이해하게 해주었던 비관주의의 대립이다. In book II, chapter 3 of The Social Contract, Rousseau proves the existence and the legitimacy of the general will by distinguishing it from the will of all and explaining its calculation. However our comprehension runs into difficulty due to the mathematical language that dominates this short chapter. Three interpretations have been presented on this problem, which chronologically constitute a dialectical process, but conceptually still reserve an essential opposition between two historical philosophies. Masters criticizes the oppressive formalism of the general will, Philonenko refers to the infinitesimal calculus to reconceptualize this formalism, and finally Radica attempts to find a reconciliatory way to moderate this confrontation by introducing a Kantian element. However, it is brought to light that this dialectic is structured by a conflict between optimism and pessimism on the possibility of the general will and on the history. Only by demonstrating the pessimistic perspective through the specific mathematical model, Philonenko could have shown the powerful effect of the general will that had put an end to the optimism of the Enlightenment

Prevention of insulitis by BCG administration in NOD mice of the neonatal period

의학과/석사[한글] 인슐린의존형 당뇨병은 면역 조절 이상에 의해 초래되는 자가면역질환으로 이해되며 여러 가지의 다양한 물질들을 면역 조절제로 사용하여 인슐린의존형 당뇨병의 발병을 억제시키려는 연구들이 있어 왔다. 이중 BCG(Bacillus Calmette Guerin)는 NOD(nonobese diabetic) 마우스에 투여시 강력히 당뇨병의 발병을 억제한다고 알려져 있다. 사람에 있어서도 BCG를 신생아기에 투여한 경우와 투여하지 않은 경우에 인슐린의존형 당뇨병의 발생 비율에 유의한 차이를 보인다고 보고되어 있다. 이에 신생아기 BCG 투여에 의한 당뇨병 발생의 억제효과를 살펴 볼 필요성이 있어 저자는 인슐린의존형 당뇨병 모델인 NOD 마우스의 신생아기에 BCG를 투여하고 당뇨병 발생률과 췌도염에 대한 BCG의 억제 효과를 혈당측정과 조직학적 검사로 확인하였다. 실험군의 경우 9마리의 NOD 마우스 중에서 3마리가 당뇨병이 발생하였고 대조군에서는 8마리의 NOD 마우스 중에서 4마리가 당뇨병이 발생하였으나 통계학적 의의는 없었으며 당뇨병이 생기지 않은 NOD 마우스의 췌장 조직에서 췌도염의 정도를 계측한 결과 대조군에 비해 실험군에서 더 적게 췌도염이 발생하였고 통계학적으로 의의가 있었다. 따라서 NOD 마우스 신생아기의 BCG 투여는 당뇨병 발생을 다소 억제하는 경향을 보였고, 췌도염을 의의있게 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. [영문] The concept arises that the autoimmune response in IDDM (insulin dependent diabetes mellitus) involves some disturbance in the immunoregulation circuits. By this concept recent studies in animal models for human IDDM have revealed that immune adjuvants made a significant reduction of IDDM. Among these agents, BCG(Bacillus Calmette Guerin) has a protective effect against the development of diabetes mellitus. Recently published cohort data reported that BCG immunization at birth caused a significant reduction clinically and statistically in the development of diabetes mellitus. This study was Performed to examine the Preventive effect of DM development and insulitis with administering BCG vaccine at birth, NOD(nonobese diabetic) mice were divided two group: experimental group was injected BCG within 24 hours after birth and control group was not injected BCG. The result of DM development was that 3 out of 9 experimental animals and 4 out of 8 control animals developed DM. This result showed the preventive tendency of DM development in experimental group but had no statistical significance . The result of insulitis was that experimental group showed lower insulitis score than control group. This result showed that BCG had significant preventive effect of insulitis. In conclusion, administration of BCG in neonatal animal has the preventive tendency of DM development and has significant preventive effect of insulitis. Further study should be followed to determine the most effective period of BCG adminstration and the preventive mechanism of insulitis.restrictio
